Nursery rhymes are fun - send us some. If we can't be young, let us be young at heart.
RHYMES BY PINKIE -copyright 2001
MY PONY
I have a little pony
my pony's name is Tony
I love my little pony so
without me he will never go
both of Tony's legs are mine
because my pony's made of pine.
UNICORN WISH
If I had one wish come true
I'd wish a unicorn for you
but I know it will never be
a unicorn wish come true for me.
ELEPHANT
If I had an elephant
how happy I would be.
I would ride him right down town
so everyone could see.
LITTLE GIRLS
Little girls like pretty rings
ribbons, bows, dolls and things
mother's dress trimmed in lace
blush and lipstick on her face.
DONKEY GRAY
A spanking I may get today
for giving mother's hat away.
I had to give her hat away
the sun was hot on Donkey Gray.
ASTRONAUT
I'd like to be an astronaut
and blast off with a boom
I'd like to be an astronaut
and walk upon the moon.
If I were an astronaut
I'd wear a happy face
for it would really tickle me
to be in outer space.
WHY
I can cook - I can bake
and pretty dresses I can make
I can read - I can write
but as I lay awake at night
I find myself wondering
why God's world's so puzzling
why He made so many birds
why we have so many words
why June comes after May
why night is dark and light is day
why purple violets smell so sweet
why little birds always tweet
why crawly snakes scare me so
there's so much I'll never know,
WOOLLY WOOL
Little lamb - white and woolly
soon you'll be a sheep
and then your woolly wool
will make stockings for my feet.
ICICLES
Icicles hanging upside down
will all melt away
icicles always run and hide
when the sun comes out to play.
PRICKLY SPINE
Poor old Mr. Porcupine
he's sure to have a prickly spine
I'm glad the quills on Mr. Pine
are in his back instead of mine.
MY PICTURE
The doctor took my picture
and I heard him say
I see no broken bones
on this x-ray today.
GOING TO TOWN
I'm jumping up and jumping down
and on one foot I turn around
clapping hands - going to town
to see a parade - to see a clown.
A NURSE
You sew a pretty hanky
and I will be a nurse
for I have some bandades
in my llittle purse.
If you stick your finger
with a needle or a pin
I will get a bandade
and make it well again.
MY TEDDY
Horses whinny
and cows go moo
big red roosters
cock-a-doodle do
kitty cats mew
puppy dogs bark
and little green frogs
croak in the dark
grasshopers jump
with much to do
but I like my teddy
'cause he likes me, too.
WINDY WIND
Windy wind please come and blow
so my kite can up and go.
If you don't blow my kite can't fly
and sway so free up in the sky.
Windy wind please pass this way
so I can fly my kite today.
FRUITY FROG
Once there was a frog
sitting by another
one frog smiled
and whispered to the other
who are you
could you be my mother
or are you the one
who calls himself my brother?
Hey, fat frog
what makes you look so silly?
come with me
and we'll sit upon the lily.
What's the matter
what makes you look so sad?
If you're all alone
there's room upon my pad.
Wake up fat frog
must you sleep all day?
Hey, fat frog
what makes you act this way?
They call me Fruity
but you won't even talk
(ol' Fruity didn't know
he was talking to a rock).
MR. OWL
Hey wise owl
in the old oak tree
if you're so smart
then please tell me
why do you hoot
until day light
hooting keeps me
awake all night.
Don't just wink
at the things I've said
tonight, Mr. owl,
please go to bed!
PRETTY DAFFODIL
I took a walk upon the hill
and picked a pretty daffodil.
I put the flower in a vase
and saw a smile on Mother's face.
LITTLE FAT MOUSE
Oh, little fat mouse
that shares my house
when you run out
I scream and shout
and on a chair I do stay
untilyou finally go away.
Just last night in the trap
some golden cheese I gently sat
so little mouse won't you please
take a nibble of the cheese?
Good golly gee - good gracious me
you've got yourself a family.
There's only one thing I can do
this house I'll gladly give to you.
COUNTING
There are so many wonders
living in the sea
starfish
sea horse
crabs and seals
swimming happily
I wonder how many wonders
are living in the sea
I think if you should count them
still counting you would be
JOHNNY'S JACKET
Johnny wears a jacket
when he goes out to play
Johnny wears a jacket
on a cold windy day.
If the sun should shine
when Johnny wears his jacket
Johnny simply takes it off
and then he has to pack it.
NURSERY RHYMES
MY TOP
I like to spin
my twirly top
I wind it up
then watch it stop.
