A sonnet is a 14 line poem which has 10 syllables (a unit of spoken language consisting of a single uninterrupted sound forming a word - e.g person has two syllables - per and son) in each line. It can be of anything, but as it wa used by Shakespeare - most of it is love.
Here is my Summer Sonnet...hope you like it!
Summer is here, the days are long and hot
Tasting all flavours of every ice-cream
And playing with buckets and spades a lot
Or playing tennis and sports with a team.
Going to parties, and other meetings
Six weeks off school! So do what you like
Making new friends with some happy greetings
Showing off in front of mates on your bike.
Many laughs to handle, its all too good
Swimming in cool pools, as the sun goes high,
Having much more fun, then you thought you would
Sun is going down, to the edge of the sky.
It's night now, but never mind, days will come
Just make sure you have all your homework done! |
