"Human, there is still time before they come here and find me, they will force me to help them, and I am not obligated to do so, you must take control of the weapons on this ship and shoot anything that gets in our way." 213 spoke on the speakers. Raynor had no idea what was going on, but decided to help out. The destination on the ring was getting closer, but so was the covenant ship, it edged closer and closer to the path 213 was guiding the ship to.
"Just a few more minutes human." 213 noted.
That was when the covenant ship started to block the ship 213 was using.
"Get out of the way or i will be forced to fire."
The covenant ship did not move, "Fire the main cannon, human."
Raynor skimmed over the controls, there were no weapons capable of taking out the covenant ship. "We dont have any weapons strong enough."
"Yes you do, just fire the main cannon!" 213 grew annoyed at the human's inability to follow direct orders.
Raynor activated the cannon. An intense beam of light shot out and took a chunk out of the hull.
"I upgraded your weapons human, next time i ask of something, you should do it."
213 guided the ship through the empty hole in the hull of the covenant ship.
"We will be at target in 30 seconds human."
"Just so you know, my name is Raynor Decan."
"Very well, Raynor."
The ship landed at the destination. Raynor was directed to leave the control room. As he walked out onto the icy metal, he noticed footprints coming from behind him. Raynor spun around to see an flood infection form heading right for him. Raynor raised his SMG and fired, but it didnt stop the flood, it knocked the gun out of his hands and flung him back a couple of feet. Raynor looked up again. It ran towards him and picked him up then tossed him against a nearby metal wall. Raynor heard a crack as his arm twisted grotesqly. He looked up as the flood got ready to deliver the final blow but a shotgun fired and the flood dropped. Raynor looked up and saw a marine standing with a smoking shotgun.
"The names Sanchez."
"Thank you Sanchez." Raynor got up and noticed a brute standing behind the marine.
The brute said something in its native language and Sanchez translated. "What was that weapon you fired?"
"I dunno, it was something the computer made." Raynor puzzledly looked on the ground, and found his SMG. He checked the barrel, to find it was dented. Unuseable. "The computer controled the ship, thats all I know."
"I guided the ship. And I did not expect boarders." 213 spoke. He was in another walker form, that looked like it was created from parts of old forerunner metals. "But the guests may as well witness the activation. Oh, and I am 213 Resonant Echo."
"What activation? Do you expect us to follow after the damage you caused?" The brute suddenly spoke in clear english.
"I dont expect you to follow, but its so much warmer inside this structure." 213 almost said tauntingly. His walker started walking toward the structure, and a door opened. He walked in and asked. "Arent you coming along Raynor, it is only fitting you witness this grand event."
Raynor nodded and walked in, he was followed by the Brute and Sanchez. They came into a control room similar to the other halos, but instead of a hologram in the center, there was a giant machine. 213 walked next to it and pushed one of his legs into it. Lights came on and the machine started moving, a beam of light came out from the center and shot up into the sky.
213 pulled his leg out. It continued working. "This is just a test fire to see if it will eradicate all of the flood on this ring." The machine stopped working. "And it looks like it worked. My machine is now ready to fire on the universe."
213 once again put his leg into the machine. But this time none of the lights turned on. "This isnt right."
213 literally evaporated and there was a flash of light that blinded Raynor, and then it was complete darkness. Raynor reached into his pocket and pulled out a lighter and lit it. He could only see the ground around him, and it didnt look as though he was still in the same room.
"Hello?!" Raynor yelled out. He wanted to find someone else.
"Hellooo?!" Raynor tried again but there was nothing, Raynor was alone.
Alone in the darkness.

KarMegus awoke in total darkness. He looked around and saw a faint green light floating around. He remembered that the mysterious AI with the Human was destroyed. "Monitor!" "Oh, hello meddler. Don't worry, that AI's device is no longer a threat. Now, you said you wanted to go to the Ark? Oh, first lets get some light in here..." The lights came on and KarMegus saw that Sanchez had a piece of that AI lodged in his chest. KarMegus also saw that the Human was in a cornor looking for a way out. "Human! Your plan was a failure. Come with me." The Human followed without question. While they were leaving the structure, they were attacked by thousands of infection forms. KarMegus handed the Human his Carbine and took out his Brute Shot. "Run to the Phantom. Dont let them get in." The Human ran, shooting anything in his way. KarMegus primed a grenade and threw it in the horde. He was not going to die. He had fought too long to die now...

Raynor sat in a corner. He felt shaken, like there wasnt any reason anymore. Something he didnt even plan had just exploded in his face, literally. And now he was trusting something that had most likely killed hundreds of humans. He had no idea what was going on and really didnt bother to see anything. He just decided to sit and think, try to get his mind straightened out. Try to see if there was reason.

The Infection Forms kept on coming. KarMegus yelled at the Human to try and get the Phantom's grav lift reversed. He jumped into the lift and rose up into the Phantom. The Monitor came up soon afterward. They went back up into the Ascendant Justice and plotted a course for Earth. The Flood will be stopped, KarMegus would insure that

Raynor found a room, and he decided to sit. He felt around in his pocket and pulled out a candy bar. It was melted. But he was too hungry to pass it up. It was sticky, and he later vomited but the feeling of food was good enough. An escape almost, from the troubles of his mind, the simple pleasue of eating. Another old human trait, eating when sad. There wasnt much to eat however. Raynor eventually decided to sleep, he kept the carbine weapon close by just in case.

Earth was now completely inhabited by the Flood. KarMegus flew the Phantom to where the entrance to the Ark was supposed to be. He looked for the Human in the Phantom, and found him huddled up and sleeping. KarMegus woke him up and the Human followed. "Keep on the lookout. Flood will be here." The Human looked like he would be sick, but nodded and raised the Carbine. They entered the Ark. It was truly magnificent, the Forerunners were great designers. But KarMegus had no time to admire. 421 followed and asked "Now what was it you wanted the Installations to do when activated?" "The Halos must be destroyed. Once activated, make it so the Rings will disintegrate or something. I dont care what. Just have them destroyed." The Human had a look of horror on his pale face. "Your going to activate the Halos!?" "Yes. Now stand aside." The Monitor went over to the control panel. A small beam of light seemed to connect the two. "Done. Now activate the Installations. This outbreak must be contained." KarMegus nodded, took a deep breath, and walked towards the control panel. He was a few steps away when he decided to stop and think. "What are you waiting for?" asked the Monitor...

Varas awoke with a heavy pain in him. He had been operated on,so that he would suffer a horrible death. He was in some sort of arena. It had the dead bodies of many elites, commanding elites. Torment was watching from a balcony about 3 stories above the arena. " Watch as you experience the pain of the Forerunners and their science!" He shouted with disgust. A large door opened and a dog like creature walked out. It had the look of a Hunter, with the Fuel rod cannon attached to its back. It stood about 5 feet tall on its six legs, and Varas didn't like his odds. Two more beasts walked through the door, and Varas was only equipped with his two wounds that hurt more than any thing he could think of.

Varas ws lucky he had a plasma gernade left cause the arena was weaponless. He quickly grabbed it and threw it in the middle of the arena, and the beasts exploded. Varas looked up at the forerunner and said " is that the best you can do?" Varas didnt live much longer, cause in another part of the galaxy. A fellow Elite was going to write history with a certain 421.

Raynor and the brute, began to enter the final sequence. When a famlilar voice came from behind,"I dont think the machine should be activated while there is still a safe and efficent way to end the flood's reign." Sanchez stood, half machine. He was twitching to a pulse. Raynor assumed it was a cause of the machine part of his body.
421 responded, "There is no other way."
"Yes, there is, and you stopped it." Sanchez responded. "When the machine blew up, I gained the knowledge of what was the cause, 213 figured it out too late, and it was you, 421."
"Yes, beacuse the machine was destined to fail. It could have ripped the fabric of space." 421 said.
"But that wasnt the only reason was it?" Sanchez walked forward to 421. "You were afraid that he might unsurp your duty, werent you? That your duty would go unfullfilled."
"My creators will come here and stop you, so that everything my happen correctly."
"Not if I destroy you first." Sanchez jumped up, and grabbed hold of 421 and smashed the orb. Crushing the metal as though it were paper.
"Now we shall conquer and feed!" Sanchez yelled out and hundreds of flood came bursting through the door into the chamber. Several enforcers came and started to battle the flood but were outmatched by far.
Raynor started out through one of the doors not currently being used by the flood to come in. He lost all sight of the brute and Sanchez, he walked into the room only to feel himself being lifted up and up until he found himself in a desert. Once again, he was all alone.

Varas did all he could to outrun the forerunner. He was so fast, not even a ghost could have beat him. The cybernetic legs and double jointed knees were never ment for slow moving. The forerunner ran ahead of Varas and stopped in front of him. " Dont try to stop us from activating the ark, it is inevidable," He said with disgust. Varas didnt have any weapons, and for him, close combat wasn't his A game. The forerunner pulled out what looked like a a Plasma rifle but with three shooting holes instead of one. The runner shot the alien gun at Varas but missed terribly. The forerunners were scientists, not soldiers, so Varas wasn't scared of him anymore. He dodged the plasma and made a clear uppercut across the runners jaw. He knew he broke his jaw, so he began to pummel the creatures face till it was pieces of bones and guts. He had defeated an enemy that seemed invinsible.
He started picking up static and heard a familliar voice. " shhhhhhhhhhhhh can shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh can you hesssssssssssss its sssssssssss shaqshhhhhhhhhhhh." Thats all he heard.

Raynor had taken to wandering around. All there was for miles was sand. Sand and more sand. Raynor had found an abandoned warthog. It was out of gas, and the radio wouldnt turn on. But there was some food and water in the back. Raynor stuffed as much as he could safely carry and he walked out into the sand again. He decided to set up camp. He used a tent and found that the night was freezing cold. He set out again and also found a small deserted town. A road led out. Although, he decided to stay and find what he could in the town.
There were signs of recent activity. Some t.v. were still on, but all that was on the screen was static. Raynor chuckled, "I guess cable was cut." Raynor found his way into the local resturant. Still noone. Raynor searched through. Some glasses were still full. He took a couple of good sips. The soda tasted nice as apposed to the stale water from the warthog. Raynor found the local hunting shop as well. He found a small revolver. He got a couple of rounds for it. He also found a rifle and some rounds for that as well. He decided to save his SMG for later.
He also found a pair of binoculars. They still worked, "Good." Raynor told himself. He walked into one of the local houses. He found a communication device. Looked as though, this was a tourist attraction town, beacuse the town looked like the older places back 500 or so years. He found a phone book and dialed the first number he could find. al's Auto Repair. He got the answering machine. But Raynor didnt really care about that. Then he found the emergency number. 9-1-1.
It rang and someone picked it up. "Theres someone still out there?"
"Yes, my name is Raynor Decan, I got lost."
"Well Raynor, where are you?"
"Looks like some old town created as a tourist attraction."
"Oh, 'Sun Rock,' we cant get to you, but you might be able to get to us, take the road out of here, and one of our partols should pick you up. But beware, strange creatures seem to have come with the covenant, some seem to not care about us anymore, but still some who will attack when they see you. And dont be fooled if they look human, be sure to look very close to theier body. Some undead looking ones are going around, and you should kill them as fast as possible. They are rather deadly up close."
"Alright, see you there."
The other end hung up. Raynor decided he would find a car to use first. He searched the houses in the town. On his third one he heard some noises coming from the floor above him. He started up the stairs and opened the door. It was a flood human missing his legs. Raynor shot it three times with the rifle, but it didnt stop moving, he shot it 5 more times before he had to reload, and it finally died. He went down stairs and left the house, hoping that flood wouldnt try to come after him. He eventually did find a car. It was a newer model, but it was a small one too. Raynor hoped he wouldnt run into any covenant on the way there. About three miles out of the town he found a road block. Derelict cars littered the road, and a tanker filled the bulk of the road. Raynor went around it and noticed some flood inside of its reckage. One of the human forms jumped out and grabbed the side of the car. Raynor slammed down on the gas and sped off.
The flood fell off as he sped up, and he checked the rear view mirror and saw several gaining on the car. He tried to go as fast as he could and he eventually outran the flood chasing him. After four more miles the car stalled out. He got out and decided to walk as far as he could before night then he would set up camp. But before that happened, he noticed several grunts patrolling around, he stopped and followed them. After awhile he came to a small crudely made camp, where a marine was on the ground in the middle of a group of jackals and drones.

Varas knew Shaq'oul was a good brute. He did what he was told and followed any leadr to death. But He was dead, Varas knew it. Varas was on the last escape pod that the brae brute let him have. But when an armada of flood attack a defensless battle cruiser, the hope for survival was slim." Shhhhhh come insshhhhhhhhhh. I am on boarshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh flood everywheshssh... calling helpshhhhhhh. On the Unholy Reapershhhh. Tarteshhhhhh alive!!" I heard Tarterus fo sure. But there is no way the flood would join with the brutes. Why would the prophets allow this? Isnt the Great Journey to Cleanse the galaxy of wrong? Varas didnt konw what he would do, but he needed to get to the Reaper. If anybody would help the brute, it would be the elite whos life he saved.

KarMegus found the camp of Covenant and took shelter. The commanding officer
was a Brute. KarMegus didn't waste his time to ask for a name. He was in the middle of explaining his plan when he saw a Human trapped in a cage. "We'll need him." KarMegus stated. He finished with his plan, and the group was eager to complete it. "The Great Journey shall be completed!" hissed a Jackal. KarMegus decided it would be better not to explain the difference between what they were about to do and the Great Journey. He turned around to tell the Human what his duties were, but he was gone...

It looked as though he was being bandanged by the creatures now huddled around him, but there were too many of them, with too many weapons, for now, that marine would have to fend for himself.
If the marine did get out of there, Raynor decided to set up some clues, which were comprised of one. "Go north dipstick." Hopefully he would want to either
a. Go there
b. be insulted
c. Get eaten.
Raynor hoped it was the first one.
Raynor got back into his small car and started out, the road streched for another mile before another roadblock was set up. It was a tunnel structure, with a large metal door in the middle, he also noticed that to either side of the block was sand dunes too tall to get over. There were also two windows and when Raynor got closer, he noticed two 50. Cals in the windows and someone screamed out. "Hows it goin?"
"A little weary, but fine." Raynor replied.
"Thought you were one of those "Zombies." Heh, come on in!" The Door opened and Raynor saw that the road on the other side was an illusion. He drove it inside and noticed that it was a tunnel that went underground. Lights illuminated the tunnel, and Raynor saw Marines lining the walls, all were ready to guard against intrusions. Raynor drove for awhile when someone stopped him. The guy was rather short and spoke with a high pitched voice.
"Hiya! Im Fred West, the origonal owner of the vintage town down there, we figured noone had survived the infestation, well, im just here to tell you that you need to get out of your vechile, and we will send you on your merry way down into the actual city. Its well guarded and suprisingly peaceful, despite the rough conditions of our current place and time, where you go from there is entirely up to you!" Raynor noticed that Fred had not taken one breath through his entire speach.
"Quite the vocal man I see." Raynor got out and walked down into the tunnel. But was stopped once again.
A marine noticed his SMG. "You need to hand that over to me sir, we need all the stuff we can get. You can keep your pistol though." Raynor handed it over and kept as much ammo for his pistol as he could. "You might as well have this too." And the marine handed over three rounds. "Its not much, but its enough for the bandits on the next main road."
Raynor questioned him, "Bandits?"
"Yeah, some of the guys that take advantage of these unfortunate citizens. Like yourself."
Raynor continued out, now weary of fighting humans as well as the other goddamn problems he had to contend with.
