| bipedalcow 10-01-2005, 08:01 PM It was torture, being at the Ark, his destination for so long, and not being able to accomplish what he set out for. 421 had granted them access to the Master Computer while they waited.KarMegus browsed through the files, coming across an AI. It was called Odyssey, and began communicating with KarMegus. ---------------Oddesey Activated-------------------- Odyssey- Hello. This computer has not been accessed in some time. What is the current date? KarMegus- What is this? Odyssey- Oh, excuse me. I am Odessey, Artificial Intelligence 070. I must have automatically activated. Please, what year is it? KarMegus- 2552 Odessey- Impossible. Last communication dates 3022. KarMegus- It is 2552. You must have a virus. Odessey- No. I am quite certain I do not. KarMegus- That is quite strange. Odessey- Indeed. On a different matter, what can I help you with? KarMegus- Is there any way I can access Covenant computers from this console? Oddesey- Of course. One moment please... DOWNLOADING---------prog3-Cov.FILES/1100ofF----SuCcEsS Oddesey- There you go. KarMegus- Thank you. Oddesey- Will that be all? KarMegus- For now, yes. Oddesey- Well then, activate me if assistance is needed again. ----------------Oddesey Deactivated---------------- "How strange...." muttered KarMegus. He looked through the Covenant Battle Net. Apparently, Truth was still alive, and was heading to The Ark right now, with the Prophets of Pity and Disdain. Large Space Battles were still occuring, and casualties were uncountable. 421 floated over to KarMegus. "Oh, more Meddlers coming to here? How absurd, they will not cease, will they? Ah well. Prepare for battle, Meddler." KarMegus sighed. He focused on the console again. --------------Oddesey Activate-------------------- Oddesey- Oh, hello. Is this KarMegus? KarMegus- Yes. I would like access to Human computers from this console as well. Oddesey- Right away. One moment please... ---Download Commence-----File44589----Hum.----Battle.NeT------SuCcEsS- Oddesey- There you go. KarMegus- Thank you. That is all I need assistance on at the moment. Oddesey- You are most welcome. Good-bye. -------Oddesey Deactivated------------------------ KarMegus looked at the Human Battle Net. The entire Human fleet was heading for the Ark as well. Images of a large scale battle flashed through KarMegus' mind. He did not like it. Cassidy approached him. "How does everything look?" KarMegus explained about the inevitable battle, and watched as a look of horror appeared on Cassidy's face. ____________________________________________ Year 2551, Covenant Calender. Location- Near Reach KarMegus was part of a recovery squad that was after something on Reach. As he was waiting, he met an Elite Ranger, by the name of Lako 'Nurammee. They began discussing the mission, until the ship was attacked. A Human Longsword was still left, and began fired on them. Lako exited the ship, with the other Rangers. He was the only one to return, with a large burn mark on his armor. 'Nurammee was put in Intensive Care, but was soon walking. He was told countless times his armor needed to be replaced, that the burn was severe damage and the armor wouldn't last, but 'Nurammee kept it as a reminder of why he became a Ranger. _________________________________ 'Nurammee got up. The last Flood was killed. He was the only one left. As the Elites were fighting the flood that exited the Escape Pod, more had come. He knew KarMegus and the other prisoners had escaped. They were headed toward the Ark, and that they were gping to activate all the Halos. He was going to stop them. His Plasma Rifles were out of ammo, so he went to the supply tent and took an Energy Sword and another pair of Rifles. He hopped in a near-by Banshee, and set out in the direction he was sure KarMegus had gone. As he flew, he began to think of his past. His father, Ado 'Nurammee, was a Ranger. But his father was killed in a Space Battle. Lako decided to become a Ranger to honor his father. He had become well known quite fast. He was offered promotions several times, but refused them all. He narrowly missed a large boulder, bringing him back to the present. _________________________________________________ Truth watched the view screen as the Ascendant Justice broke into the atmosphere. They had easily slipped past the MAC guns that were distracted by other fighters. They were surrounded by Seraphs, Freighters, and Phantoms filled with soldiers and vehicles. They set out in the direction of the Ark. Truth approached 343. "We are almost there Oracle. Stay by me." ______________________________________________________________ They were 10 miles from the Ark when they landed. All the soldiers exited the ships, and the vehicles were unloaded. Everything was ready for the siege on the Ark. M3RC 10-01-2005, 08:51 PM The Ark. Gerrick first shuddered, but then started walking toward the main interface. The control room was empty. No noise, or sound. Gerrick couldnt see anyone else, just silence. There also seemed to be a man made of machine and flesh. Gerrick came up to him. "Please move aside? You are blocking the panel, and I am on the verge of a scientific discovery." Gerrick was too dumbfounded to care. The man also seemed to be brimming with intelect. "I am sorry, but who are you?" The man brimmed back. "I am Gerrick! Who might you be?" "I am Sanchez. You seem to be here on a mission I presume?" "Yes, I am here to study and tally the fuctioning of this machine. I would like to get started promptly as well." "Well, the old machine needs some dusting up, go ahead and give it a try." Sanchez moved over and Gerrick plugged his computer into the interface. The operating system needed awhile to get the systems working. "Well, this will take a while. In the meantime, do you know how to play chess?" bipedalcow 10-01-2005, 08:58 PM Cassidy heard a the Covenant Armada approaching the Ark. There were thousands of them. He looked around. There also seemed to be millions of Sentinals. He exited the Ark and watched as Rebel ships came, landed a few miles away, and unloaded as well. He also saw The Flood coming, and Humans. This is terrible, he thought. He looked back, and sa KarMegus, still on the computer. A Wraith fired on the direction of the Flood. "So it begins." said 421... M3RC 10-01-2005, 09:12 PM Gerrick finished a skillful game of chess with Sanchez. "Checkmate." Sanchez showed some dismay, and looked at the door as if he heard something. "Whats wrong?" Gerrick asked puzzledly. "The door may have broken, the terrors of the outside are getting closer, I want to keep us both alive, im going to reinforce the door, you keep working." Sanchez took up lightening speed and started working on the large door. Gerrick looked back at the computer screen just in time to see it finish, "Alright, let me get to work." The alien system was large, it would take years to look at everything, but instead, he looked for a search fuction. Oddessy. An A.I. of some sort, that Gerrick would have asked more questions than one, but instead only asked to know the function of the "Ark." Oddessy told him that it was a failsafe in case there was a malfuction at one Ring. Next, Gerrick asked what the Rings were. He told Gerrick they were for the annilation of all life in the galaxy, in order to eliminate the flood. Gerrick was horrified. Next, he asked one more question. "What is the flood?" The answer horrifed Gerrick twice as much. The devourer of life, the death to existance. The end of intelligence. Gerrick thought there might be a better way, he was about to ask about the other options when the door burst down. Gerrick looked over at the doorway and found a mixed group of grunts and elites pouring in. Sanchez had thrown himself in fighting with a mix of himself and the varying weapons. However, a single elite found it's way out of the mess on a jumpjet. It was heading straight for Gerrick. As Gerrick was fumbling with his pistol, the elite came down and knocked it out of his hands. Now Gerrick was at his mercy. bipedalcow 10-01-2005, 09:29 PM The total destruction outside of the Ark was sickening to KarMegus. He decided that he would have no part in it, and headed toward the Master Computer. ----Odessy Activated------------- Oddesey- Is this Gerrick? KarMegus- No. This is KarMegus. Who is Gerrick? Oddesey- A strange man. He asked the most obvious questions. KarMegus- was he Human? Oddesey- I am not quite sure. He might've been, I suppose. I do not understand how I would know something like that, thou ErRoR #224893 +!2!@#$#@DSDF+<>^^_--_+CoV.NeTHum.FiLe The console shut down. KarMegus stared at it in awe. Something was not right. ________________________________ 'Nurammee had the Human cornered. It was helpless. But "Nurammee had nothing against the Human. Since the rebellion, they were allies. So he led the Human out of the battle. "I need to get through that door." said the Human. 'Nurammee nodded, and threw a Plasma Grenade at it. It exploded, and the entrance was no longer blocked. The Human rushed through. 'Nurammee followed, hoping there was something interesting in there. He had gone only a few feet before feeling an overwhelming sense of vertigo, and then was in a desert. He saw the Human running toward a large mountain. He also saw the battle taking place in front of it. 'Nurammee knew this is where KarMegus went, so he rushed into the battle, killing all Flood and Covenant that stood in his way. M3RC 10-01-2005, 09:42 PM Gerrick had never been in a battle before, and he didnt like it. He wasnt sure who to trust, and didnt know who to confide in during the battle. Dodging through the mess he saw everything living and dead. He would often be saved by both humans and elites, but sometimes he would be attacked by the dead. Gerrick had picked up a pistol from a dead man's hand and had taken to blasting through the mess. It was not to soon however, that a brute scooped him out of the battle. Gerrick was roughly dragged along the ground, scraping rocks all the way. He finally closed his eyes. The dragging stopped. Gerrick opened his eyes. He was in a small cave, and he could see the brute along with two other brutes. The other ones looked at him, they spoke but he couldnt understand what they were saying. Gerrick thought he understood them rather well however. They were hungry. He kicked himself free, and started running to get out, but a brute cut him off, and he could see more bodies piled up in a pit, on the top, an elite was stirring. Gerrick didnt want to be there. He backtracked and while the brute chased him, he tried to dodge around it. But with no luck. The brute tossed him into the pile. Gerrick could hear the creatures underhim, that were dying give a cry of dismay. Gerrick felt something stirring behind him, and turned around. It was an elite with white armor. It pushed him into a corner. It growled in his face, and quietly told him, "Hold fast, we will make it out of here." bipedalcow 10-01-2005, 09:50 PM 'Nurammee was slicing through anything he came across. Flood ran at him by the dozens, but to no avail. He was releasing years of pent up rage. He cut through Brutes and Flood alike. His shields went out, He was being shot at by the Sentinals. How many sides were in this war, he thought. He took out his Plasma Rifles and shot them down, activated his jetpack, and began firing at an Enforcer. It turned, targeted him, and shot many missiles at him. 'Nurammee fell to the ground, and everything began to fade... _____________________________________________ KarMegus changed his mind. He got his Carbine and rushed into the mess. His adrenaline pumping, he began firing at anything that moved. Sentinal, Flood, Grunt- they were all the same to him: either he kills them, or they kill him. And he had gone through too much to die. He grabbed onto the leg of an Enforcer, and was lifted up, as it floated upward. Using one hand, he fired into a group of Flood Juggernauts. KarMegus had missed the rush of battle. M3RC 10-01-2005, 10:13 PM About an hour had passed sience he had entered the pit. It was wearing on him. There were other humans down in the pit but, none were really able to talk, or say anything other than, "we are doomed." Everything to that effect anyway. The only sane person in the pit other than Gerrick seemed to be the elite, who called himself Zarvha. Zarvha said he had been through worse, on a cursed station filled with horrors that Gerrick couldnt comprehend. Gerrick took his word for it. Zarvha said the brutes would wait for you to die before they took you out. As long as they stayed alive, the brutes wouldnt pick them. Gerrick hoped the elite was correct. He hoped he could stay alive as long as he could. The chess set was still in his backpack. He tried to teach Zarvha how to play, but Zarvha's hands were too large. Gerrick told his stories in hopes of staying awake. The marines in the pit would often laugh at them. Gerrick also had a weeks worth of food and water. Zarvha however, would steal from the pit. Gerrick thought it was disgusting, but it was also the only way for Zarvha to survive. Days passed, bodies going in and out. Zarvha monitored it well. Eventually Zarvha turned to Gerrick. "I have a way out." Gerrick questioned him, "How?" Zarvha explained, "Everytime they bring a body out, they drop a rope into the pit. All we need to do, is get someone to pull the rope down. They wont kill all of us beacuse they need us for food." Gerrick replied, "How are we going to find-" But couldnt finish beacuse a rope was lowered around his waist. It started to pull him up but Zarvha pulled it down. Zarvha wasnt enough, but other ones in the pit all grabbed on. Soon they pulled the brute down. He fell with a nice thump. Soon all of the creatures in the pit jumped upon it, and another brute jumped down to help him. The overwhelming number of prisoners however was too much. Soon all of the creatures were hoisting eachother out of the pit and then all of the brutes were dead. Zarvha pulled Gerrick out. "Me and you need to escape, the prisoners are free, and I need you to help with something." Gerrick nodded, and after Zarvha found his energy sword, they headed out, away from the mess. bipedalcow 10-01-2005, 10:27 PM The battle had raged for days. The dead were everywhere, being consumed by the Flood. KarMegus had hijacked a Ghost and was running over everything. He was on his own side. He killed everything. In fact, he was surprised he wasn't already dead. He seemed to be lucky. He felt the signature burning sensation exclusive to sentinals. He fired at it, and it exploded. KarMegus made a loud war cry, and continued killing. ___________________________________ Truth looked intently at the view screen. He sighed. "Enough of this. Get me a Phantom, I am going down there. Pity, Disdain, follow me now." Pity and Disdain looked at each other, then followed Truth to a Phantom, being loaded with Honor Guards. It exited the Ascendant Justice, and went towards the Ark. _________________________________________________________________ Cassidy could take no more. He took out his Battle Rifle, and went into the battle. There was death and destruction everywhere. He killed several Brutes, when he stumbled upon a dead Marine. The Marine was holding a Sniper Rifle, and had a large bag full of ammo. Cassidy took the Sniper and the ammo, headed back towards the entrance to the Ark, and loaded up. He had always been a good Sniper, and all this extra ammo wasn't going to shoot itself, was it? M3RC 10-01-2005, 10:30 PM And so ends Chapter two, the universal war has begun. |
