Need some new study habits . . .
what TIPped you off?
LOL. Now, onto the tips!
1 Turn off appliances if they distract you (radio, TV, etc . . . no, lamps do not count!)
2 If it helps, turn on a little music (no singing along! It'd probably be better if the music had no words - i.e., classic or instrumentals in jazz or something)
3 Try to figure out if you are an auditory (listening) learner or a visual (seeing) learner.
a If you're auditory- Read your notes/highlighted parts of your book out loud. Do this several times if you need to. You can also try making up an acronym (that's one of those things like My Very Educated Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas for the order of the planets). One more thing - try saying your notes into a tape recorder and playing them back.
b If you're visual- Read your notes/highlighted parts of your book several times. You can also try making up an acronym (that's one of those things like My Very Educated Mother Just Sent Us Nine Pizzas for the order of the planets). One more thing - try writing parts of your notes or make up a sample quiz or ask a friend to.
4 Get some sleep! Do not try to stay up too late (especially all night!) This actually lowers your scores. It's better to study for a little while and then get some sleep than to study all night (you probably won't remember it if you're so drowsy anyway). |
