Umbrella, a giant company responsible for more than hundred deaths and even a whole city's destiny. But now since the first version of RE2 got scrapped, they've had the luck to not being exposed to the public, with their research since all the evidence has been destroyed in their labs, which all have been destroyed by a explosion.

Umbrella was from the beginning only a small and unknown company for the first player of Resident Evil, the name didn't mean anything. But when playing through the game, this cooperation's true intentions and personality got exposed: Umbrella is a global corporation (main headquarter in Europe) with lots of small operation places spread all over the world. More evidences on other corporate offices (in Chicago for an example) and now also obviously a main research-base on some isolated island. This cooperation seems to be bigger than one can even imagine…

The accidents that have been accruing on different places where Umbrella has been involved may not only be the "terrible incidents" which they've been described as. The accident which spread the virus now known as the "T-Virus" in Umbrellas facility in Raccoon Forest haven't yet been fully explained. But one proof on that there was an accident is that Umbrella decides to send their former employee, Albert Wesker, to wipe out any evidence on Umbrellas involvement in the terrible things that were going on in the mansion. He had at that moment gotten high positions in the STARS, so he was perfect to send since he was a former employee and now could send his own men to investigate the scene and Umbrella didn't have to send in their own troops and show themselves on the place. It would now look like an ordinary rescue party, and that also explains why Wesker made Bravo Teams chopper to crash, then sending his own team to the rescue the Bravo Team. He then could use the STARS members as both a help to avoid the zombies and other creatures and as testing objects for the creations of Umbrella. But Umbrellas plan is spoiled thanks to Wesker, who decides to turn against Umbrella, taking over its research on the T-Virus and the Tyrant experiments and selling it to other countries as a revenge on them making him quit his experiments on the Tyrant.
But Umbrella´s plan makes it halfway, since the mansion is blown up and all proof is destroyed thanks to Rebecca/Barry/Wesker who activates the triggering system and then ensures the mansions destruction.

The knowledge of that there may be more Umbrella´s labs all over the world is in fact terrifying, and what about if there exist one in nearly every country. One must wonder actually how big this company really is, is it the small company you thought about in Resident Evil or is it something bigger, something even bigger than the government, something that is so big that it nearly controls the world. Maybe this is a company that is aiming to conquer the world, and if they now have research-bases spread all over the world, what could actually stop them from world domination? It has already been proved that they are so powerful that they can hide research base as big as the ones in Raccoon City from the public, when having police chiefs and other important people keep quiet with the help of money, and they seem to have lots of it, another reason to why they could be sponsored by...maybe a government. And to get back on the world domination theory, it is strengthen with the fact that if Umbrella would release a virus at each location they got a lab at, the virus would spread across the planet in a matter of days.
Then we come to the fact that the accidents in Raccoon Forest and Raccoon City maybe wasn't accidents. What if these places were testing sites for Umbrella, conducting how their viruses would behave when being released, maybe it was a controlled outbreak to determine the geographic propensity of the virus. We know that it is Umbrella that is responsible for the destruction of Raccoon City, but not how or why. Maybe the destruction was just a test for a global infection, then we're dealing with an organization with no moral at all, an organization that will stop at nothing....
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Resident Evil 2 when William Birkin has his virus stolen by the Umbrella Corporation's Special HUNK unit the virus that is injested by the rats is not the G-Virus, the G-Virus is a purple gelatin while the T-Virus is a different' color and a differen't state, more liquid than gel. If you watch the video carefully, you'll notice that the rat's injest a green liquid from the ground, not the purple gelitin of the G-Virus, so I assume that the case infact held both the G and T viruses. If you'll remember when Annette explains her husband she says William was the creater of the T-Virus explaining why the case would have both viruses. Also another form of the T-Virus was discussed in Resident Evil 3, it was called the NE-T Virus and spawned the new Hunter Gammas, Betas, and most of the other creatures in the game, including Nemesis.
Also RE3 states that the T-Virus infected the city, which brings me to another point.
Now this part here is actual facts that are presented throughout the RE series, I thought I'd bring 'em to your attention to help clear up a few things.
The G-Virus infects through embyos and transforms cells, through a process similar to Mitosis. If the embryos are rejected they burst from their host and spawn other creatures, like the "baby boss" found in RE2. If the embryos are accepted they create differen't sub-species of humans depending on the amount of virus originally injected, explaining the difference of lickers and the William Birkin G-types.
The T-Virus works differently instead of embryos the T-virus actually deteriorates cells instead of transforming them. Initially the virus affects the weaker skin cells and moves on the the brain and other organs quickly causing the person to lose basic nerve feeling and most of their common sense. Over a short period of time (two to five days depending of toxicity) the virus infects more and more cells until finally the person is left with only basic motor skills and primal thoughts (focusing on the main two: kill and eat). Now, if the host is infected through injection or has a high content of the pure virus and their cells are spliced with others (Reptiles for Hunter Betas, Amphibians for Hunter Gammas, and insects for other creatures) they can become more effeciant B.O.W.s (Bio Organic Weapons). Also when other insects or certain plants and animals are injected they are known to transform and mutate into larger and more violent creatures (web-spinners, Plant 42, the Yawn...just to name a few).
