Religious Records
Since the government of Poland did not start recording actual births, marriages and deaths until about 1876, you will find yourself relying on religious records. There are sites on the Internet that can provide you with addresses of churches. You will find church records to be the most accurate in Poland since the priest usually spoke Polish, and could correctly write the Polish language. Some of the funeral and marriage records listed where they were born, their parents' names and survivors of the deceased. When you write for records, remember to ask for all notations made by the priest. These notes may prove to be very important in your research. Always remember to send a thank you note and a donation to the church. This helps perpetuate their willingness to assist others. We must not make genealogists look like ungrateful people.

Catholic:

There is a site on the Internet to locate all the churches, temples and shrines in Poland. I have added a site by extracting data from the site with the addresses of the churches. Please go to Poland Border Surnames Genealogical Research Helper site. You will find two sites listed. The first one can be used to possibly determine the parish your ancestors attended. The second one will help you locate the address of the parish.

Polish Cities with Churches, Temples and Shrines These are set up by province with cities that have churches, temples and shrines within them. Use this site before moving on to the site just below this one. If you do not find your city, village or town, you will need to find one that is close which has a church or temple.

Locating Addresses for Churches, Temples & Shrines in Poland When you go into the site, click on the British flag to get the English version. In the box indicated as SIC type in the numbers 866101 (code number for Churches, Temples & Shrines). Next click on Select across from the word Voivodship, which is under the box you in which you just placed the numbers. On the next page click, on the word Reset. Then you check the box of the Province where your ancestors resided. This list has the old names of the provinces. Next click on Return. There are three words on the next screen: List, Report and Results Format below all of the boxes. Click on List, and then on Search, and that will give you all the parishes in that Province. You will need to click on the links with the name of the church, temple and/or shrine to obtain the addresses.
