The blue-crowned conure is one of the clowns of the conure family. They are
playful and it is not unusual to see the babies lying on their backs playing
with their toes!. They grow to be about 17 inches in length from beak to
tail. Basically a green bird, they have dark red under feathers on their
tails and a dusting of blue on the crowns of their heads. Blue-crowned
conures are very good talkers. All of the babies that we have raised have
been talking by the time they were 10 weeks old!! Blue crowns are not
usually cuddly birds, but they do enjoy riding around on your shoulder or
sitting on your arm or hand. These are inquisitve birds and like lots of
destructable toys in their cages.
