| Love it or Hate it? To choose, just read the book. Then you can tell for yourself! |
| If you don't want to read it because your worried what your friends will think and it's "not cool" than forget it. If your not brave enough to take a step out of your comfort zone, you won't have the mind to enjoy it anyway. |
Whether you love it or hate it, you must admit, these books have really got the spotlight. Some say it was stolen others believe the attention is all well deserved. This page is for the curious who have not chosen sides. however it is being written by a fan, but i will try to include reasons why people loathe the series.
First of all to understand this, the basic plot is a young boy with a stupid life (so far) finds out he has a bit of a magical connection. In other words he's a wizard. he enrolls in a wizarding school called hogwarts, and has some great adventures. As the years go by he gets older, which i think really makes them better, because he's 14 about now.
THE FACTS! GOOD? SATANIC? or just STUPID?
Good Facts:Harry lets you escape into a magical world of your own while keeping the reader enthralled. The ties within the stories are phenomenal, and the books promote alot of imagination. I would think that Most (not all) Redwall fans would enjoy this book, because redwall also creates i6t's own world so I would actually recomend it to the majority of avid redwall readers. Some believe these statements like wishing it were real makes us want to join a cult. NOT TRUE. even in the book they are against dark magic, and any sane reader should realize that even J.K. has stated the books are not real, and the world of harry potter is only accesible through a strong imagination.
Satanic Facts: I'm really sorry, but SOME (not all) anti harry potter sites crack me up. For example, one is even called "Harry potter books are driving your kids insane!" really, thats the name of the site! Well that way of looking at it states children acting abnormally and wanting to become part of this world. They say these books promote witch craft, and satan. (note: alot of this abnormal behavior includes, simple things like acting out the story or pretending it to be real. I however, realize this is only an expresive imagination.)
STUPID FACTS: Well some people think the books are just too stupid to read. Reasons why? Well one is the fact that the book series starts when harry is 11. So they say it's a little kid book. (Note:he'll be 17 when it ends, and I thought alot of material in the 4th book is a bit mature aqnd hard to understand for the younger audience.)
Others say it was too boring, and just...dumb. Well okay thats an opinion. I really don't care, but the only way i can figure out why is because they really have no need to escape because they are perfectly happy in their social surroundings and see an escape as stupid. So they don't bother to imagine something different.
Then the last is they aren't avid readers, and started the book cause someone recomended it, and they barely read the first three chapters when putting it down, because they couldn't make the words flow enough to graph it in their mind. Which is okay really. rowling has a diffent style some enjoy it, and some don't.
