Well, what is a GOOD Angle? First, you have to know what exactly an Angle is. For those of you new to Wrestling in general, an Angle is basically a story line that creates an 'Arc' or series of events that often leads to a gigantic conclusion (like the Bret Hart/HBK conflict that ended at Survivor Series 1997's fateful main event due to a MAJOR real life screw job by the WWF Owner, Vince McMahon Jr.). Anyway, a good angle has several key components in it for it to truly succeed:
1) It has AT LEAST 2 people involved in it, since this is a Angle/Arc, NOT a story line, which might encompass only one individual in the course of his/her RPs.
2) It has a continuing Arc that can last over 1 month, perhaps several, with key events already plotted out at certain PPV's/Special Events/Shows
3) It is ORIGINAL
To mix these 3 factors would cause a magical thing called an ORIGINAL angle! Not to say that all feds are unoriginal, but even the best sometimes alter a bit WWF/WCW/ECW/NJPW/AJPW/FMW/Etc. and some Indy promotions major story lines. It's ok once in a while, but to be at the TOP of the game, you must think fast, and be able to do Angles frequently and interlocking. Failure to do so brings down the quality in a fed. I have some examples of both poor and good Angles in some of the 'big' feds |
