HOW TO BE A GOOD FACE

A great Face? Well, you first have to know what a Face is. A Face, short for Babyface, is a 'Good Guy' in wrestling. Famous wrestlers like The Rock (before and after the Corporate Champion Heel story line), Chris Jericho, Hulk Hogan in the 2nd half of his WWF Career and countless others. But what makes a GREAT Face gimmick? Well, that depends on two things:

1) The Fed your in, and the Heels/Neutrals/Other Faces in it

2) The current major/minor story lines between affiliations and how you could improve your status.

These two factors are crucial to the development of a Face. Unlike a Heel, where there are 3 stages of 'Heeldom', a Face is only a Face. He is always a fan favorite, and must perform GOOD deeds for the most part. Once in a while, revenge for one reason or another is good, as long as it's in GOOD TASTE! Which brings me to some examples of Real Life and E-Wrestling Faces that are GREAT!

First, I think that even though I personally hate him as a Wrestler, Hulk Hogan in the 2nd half of his career in WWF was perhaps one of the greatest Face careers I've seen. Hulk Hogan was one of the worst Heels, but as soon as he betrayed his 'friends', he become one of the great fan favorites. His 'Real American' schtick wooed the fans, which were sick of the fact that many heels 'ran' the show. Among these heels is perhaps my favorite all time one, 'The Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase, who had a lasting fed with Hogan, as well as Randy Savage for a while.

Another great Face that I can think of is Chris Jericho. Though some say he is a bad Face, I feel the opposite. He is and was a great Face. He could woo the crowds with his 'Jericholic' gimmick, and is a great talker. He is also a talented wrestler *If the WWF uses him RIGHT! * After all, he is the current Intercontinental Champion and might beat Ken Shamrocks and 1-2-3 Kid/X-Pacs streaks at winning it soon!

Finally, there is HBK Shawn Michaels. Being a master speaker and a REALLY good wrestler if given the chance to, he had, until he threw Marty Jennetty through the window of Bruno's Barber Shop a great Face career. His team with Jannetty, The Rockers, is amid the greatest tag-teams in WWF and perhaps Professional wrestling history. He was able to woo fans, and became a great one, even when he did become Heel. He knew how to manipulate people in kafaybe (gimmick) , and is witty person (I had the pleasure of meeting him once). He is also up there with the likes of Andre the Giant, Ted DiBiase, and Lyger and countless other great wrestlers.

With these views in mind, a Face must be able to gain audience support and to give back to those he receives support from in terms of a great show. If you intend to be a Face, BE WARNED: It's harder to do the right thing than it is to do the wrong thing!
