Super sub Parker wins it for Charlton
A Shaun Newton blast after just two minutes and a late Scott Parker goal secured a 2-1 victory for Charlton against an outclassed QPR side. Despite dominating the game for long periods Alan Curbishley's league leaders needed an 87th minute winner from their substitute Parker to move them 16 points clear at the top of the table.

Saving grace
Tampa Bay had suffered at least 10 losses for 12 consecutive seasons before Tony Dungy arrived as coach four years ago. Since then the team has improved to the point where the Bucs might become the first team to play the Super Bowl in their home stadium. Raiders release DT Maryland
In a move that had been quietly predicted by some inside the Oakland Raiders organization since the end of the 1999 season, SportsLine.com confirmed Friday night that the team has terminated the contract of defensive tackle Russell Maryland, the first player selected in the 1991 draft.
Change for the better?
After an early postseason exit vs. Boston last year, Cleveland knew moves had to be made. First, Charlie Manuel replaced Mike Hargrove as the Indians' manager, and then the club acquired lefty Chuck Finley.
