Deathblow

Ability List
D.blow Inflicts critical damage or misses.

Equip Effects
Luck +01

Levels
1: "D.blow" command enabled. 40000 AP to next level.
2: (Master) 40000 AP total.
Where to find this
Found in Gongaga Jungle.
Additional Notes
You can get Deathblow to work on all enemies at the same time with a Mega All materia.

2x-Cut Attacks consecutively
4x-Cut Attacks consecutively

Equip Effects
Dexterity +02

Levels
1: "2x-Cut" command enabled. 100,000 AP to next level.
2: Upgraded to "4x-Cut" command.
3: (Master)
Where to find this
This materia can be found in Gelnika, hidden in the first cargo room you enter. It is in the upper right hand corner of the room, underneath the chest on the bottom floor. (This is why it is so easy to miss -- only a small fraction of the materia is visible beneath the chest.)
Additional Notes
Double Cut allows you to attack an enemy twice in one turn (four times if on level two). If you tried this with a Slash-All materia (or with Flash, the second command of that materia) the Double Cut takes precendence. That means only the Double Cut will be activated, and Slash-All will be ignored.

Enemy Skill

Ability List
Enemy Skill See the Enemy Skill List for all 24 of them.

Levels
1: There are no levels.

Where to find this
Enemy Skill materias are found in lots of places. One is initially equipped on Red XIII. There is one in the Respectable Inn underneath the Barracks of Upper Junon, and one in a hut in the Forgotten City. You can get a fourth by talking to the Green Chocobo in the Chocobo Sage's house. There may be others.

Additional Notes
If you're a beginner to Final Fantasy VII, you are going to be confused by this materia. It is different from other materia in that it does not gain AP, and does not increase levels to earn new attacks. Instead, Enemy Skill materias learn by having an enemy do a specific attack on you. If that attack can be learned, then it will be "stored" in the materia so you can use it in a future battle. There are twenty-four of these attacks, each corresponding to a star on the materia. The box underneath will tell you which enemy skills you currently have. For a more detailed explanation of how this materia works (if you are still confused), as well as a list of all 24 enemy skills and where to find them, see the Enemy Skill List.
If you put more than one Enemy Skill on the same character, they will be combined into one single list. While this may help you, there are some drawbacks to this as well. First of all it does waste your materia space. The second, and biggest problem, comes when learning these skills. If one Enemy Skill already has the skill you want to learn, and the others don't, the game will assume you already have it because it's already on the combined Skill list. So you don't learn it. The only way around this is to know what enemies you have to fight and unequip any materia that already has the skills they will use.

Manipulate

Ability List
Manip. You control opponent's movements

Levels
1: "Manip." command enabled. 40000 AP to next level.
2: (Master) 40000 AP total.

It comes with Cait Sith, and thats the only one you get.

Additional Notes
Manipulate allows you to control certain enemies and use their attacks. The enemy being manipulated will turning blue and face backwards, and the character controlling it will not be able to use his or her normal attacks. This won't work with all enemies, though. Also, manipulating some enemies will not give you access to all its attacks. In the Monster Database, an attack list is marked "complete" when all the attacks listed show up in its Manipulation menu.
This is a good way to find and gain Enemy Skills. Almost all enemies with an enemy skill, except for bosses, can be Manipulated.

You can get Manipulate to work on all enemies at the same time with a Mega All materia. Actually, you don't get to Manipulate all the enemies. You only get to Manipulate one of them, and the rest miss. But this gives you a bigger chance of Manipulating any given enemy.

Mime

Ability List
Mime Equips "Mime" command (copies last used attack by any character)

Equip Effects
None

Levels
1: "Mime" command enabled. 100000 AP to next level.
3: (Master) 100000 AP total.
Where to find this
Mime is found in a materia cave east of Wutai. It's accessible only with a Black or Gold Chocobo.
Additional Notes
What is so cool about Mime is that you can basically repeat the last action any member of your party made, with no loss in MP (if it is a spell) or items (if it involves items). You can mime anything, except for other character's limits. (Yes, you can Mime your own limits -- say Cloud does Omnislash, then skips the other two character's turns, and Cloud Mimes his own Omnislash. You can't have Tifa or anyone else mime Omnislash, though.) Also, linked effects such as HP Absorb are also Mimed, even if the character who is miming doesn't have that linked materia.
Just for fun, try to use Mime before any other attacks are made.

Morph

Ability List
Morph Transforms opponent into an item

Equip Effects
None

Levels
1: "Morph" command enabled. 100000 AP to next level.
2: (Master) 100000 AP total.
Where to find this
Found in the Temple of the Ancients, near the purple pool.
Additional Notes
In order for Morph to work correctly, you need to use this so that it does enough damage to kill the enemy. If the enemy is capable of being morphed, it will turn into an item (usually this is shown with the enemy rotating as it dies). However, Morph does very little damage and thus requires some good timing.
Using Morph on anyone's Ultimate Weapon does tens of times more damage than with any other weapon. However, this works best with Yuffie's Conformer, which is capable of Morphing at near or even more than regular attack damage. At level 99, her Morph can do anywhere from 5000 to 9999 points of damage. On most enemies, this is Instant Morph.

You can get Morph to work on all enemies at the same time with a Mega All materia. (Yuffie's Conformer with Morph and Mega All - now that is a quick fight with rewards!)

Sense

Ability List
Sense Sense opponent's HP/MP/etc

Equip Effects
None

Levels
1: 40000 AP to next level.
2: (Master) 40000 AP total.
Where to find this
Initially equipped by Red XIII.
Can be bought for 1000g at Kalm, Upper Junon.

Additional Notes
You may have noticed by now that some enemies cannot be sensed. This includes Vlakorados, Master Tonberry, the Weapons, Proud Clod, Turks:Elena, and so on. My brother has noticed something interesting: In all these cases, the enemies all have uncommonly high health levels. The theory then, is this: that above a certain hit point threshold, which we believe is to be 30000 HP, that enemy is immune from Sense.
You can get Sense to work on all enemies at the same time with a Mega All materia.

Slash-All

Ability List
Slash-All Attacks all opponents
Flash Attacks all opponents

Equip Effects
None

Levels
1: "Slash-All" command enabled. 130000 AP to next level?
2: "Flash" command enabled, "Slash-All" disabled.
3: (Master)
Where to find this
Found in the Ancient Forest.
Additional Notes
Flash deals automatic death to any enemy who's not immune to it (provided it does not miss). It's pretty cool. One attack, and the enemies are turned to spirit form, floating to monster heaven.
Using this with Double Cut won't make this stuff happen twice (don't you wish it did, though?). Instead, the Double Cut takes precedence -- the Slash-All/Flash will be ignored.

Steal

Ability List
Steal
Mug

Equip Effects
Dexterity +02

Levels
1: "Steal" command enabled.
2: "Mug" command enabled, "Steal" disabled.
3: (Master)
Where to find this
Found in Midgar Sewer.
Can be bought for 1000g at Kalm.

Additional Notes
You can get Steal to work on all enemies at the same time with a Mega All materia.

Throw

Ability List
Throw Throws weapon
Coin What can I say? It's all about money

Equip Effects
Vitality +01

Levels
1: "Throw" command enabled. 45000 AP to next level.
2: "Coin" command enabled. 15000 AP to next level.
3: (Master) 60000 AP total.
Where to find this
Initially equipped by Yuffie.
Additional Notes
Throw allows you to throw any weapon in your inventory to do additional damage to an enemy, but be warned that once you throw it, the weapon is forever unrecoverable. Use it sparingly and only with weapons you are sure you do not want.
Contrary to what we previously stated, as well as what other people claim, you cannot throw the Masamune Blade (the replica of Sephiroth's sword) for 9999 damage. That item is completely unusable and does not do anything special, not even this.

When Coin is enabled, it appears that Throw is disabled. Actually, in the command menu, Throw and Coin alternate (switch off) so you can actually use either one. Coin allows you to throw your gil to do damage. It does 1000 points of damage for every 10000 gil thrown; the maximum amount you can throw at one time is 60000 gil.

W-Item

Ability List
W-Item Use two items at once

Levels
1: "W-Item" command enabled. 250000 AP to next level.
3: (Master) 250000 AP total.
Where to find this
When you return to Midgar near the end of Disc 2, and you are in the underground subway tunnels beneath Sector 8, keep going down until you reach the W-Item materia lying on the ground.
This can also be found in Bone Village, but only if you didn't already have the W-Item. If you missed it in Midgar, you can come here to dig it up. You should be able to get it by setting it on Good Treasure, and digging at the X spot on the lower level several times. Note: It is actually possible to dig up the W-Item at Bone Village even before returning to Midgar, so you'd have a bigger advantage if you can do that (plus you could still pick up the one in Midgar later, giving you two of these!).

Additional Notes
Many useful item combinations can be used with W-Item. For instance, if someone is dead, you can use a Phoenix Down and then an X-Potion to bring him back to life completely healed.
There is also an interesting trick with the W-Item that allows you to duplicate items in battle. Read the Cheats section for more details.

W-Magic

Ability List
W-Magic Casts two Magic spells at once

Levels
1: "W-Magic" command enabled. 250000 AP to next level.
3: (Master) 250000 AP total.
Where to find this
Found in Northern Cave. You have to take the right path in the room immediately before organizing your final confrontation.
Additional Notes
None.

W-Summon

Ability List
W-Summon Casts two Summon spells at once.

Levels
1: "W-Summon" command enabled. 250000 AP to next level.
2: (Master) 250000 AP total.
Where to find this
Win this at the Battle Square after earning 64,000 Battle Points. (Good luck!)
Additional Notes
After winning this you are able to access the Special Battle at the Battle Square.
W-Summon will not let you cast same the summon twice if it can only be used once per battle (when the level of the summon materia is 1). Since summons can be used a maximum of five times, it is possible to have this happen if you've already used W-Summon twice on the same summon.
