| Here are the things you'll need to get started in this wonderful hobby called Quilting. Batting - used as an interlining between quilt top and its backing. Tape measure Protractor Tissue paper Scissors Paper for patterns Metal non-skid quilt marking templates (or cardboard) for tracing directly onto material. Metal window templates (or cardboard) for making patches. Graph paper - used to enlarge designs or do quilt layouts. Tracing paper for copying designs. Medium sized round quilting hoop for small areas to be quilted. 100% cotton quilting thread for all handwork, piecing, applique, and quilting. Quilting needles have round eyes and sharp points Dressmaker's tracing paper - used for marking quilting designs - to be used with dressmaker's tracing wheel. Oval hoop for quilting the piece in sections. Beeswax to strengthen regular sewing thread and to reduce tangling. Embroidery scissors Dressmaker's pins See-thru ruler for marking straight-quilting lines on fabric Thimbles Embroidery needles for hand piecing and applique Dressmaker's marking pencil for marking quilting design |
