A man named Harvey Walker had just had heart surgery, so every day he had to go on therapy walks to make his heart stronger. One day while he was out for his walk the phone rang. Harvey's wife Annette answered it.
"Hello," she said.
"Good Day Miss Walker," the voice on the other end greeted warmly. "We have excellent news. Your husband, Harvey Walker, has one $1.5 million dollars in our sweepstakes."
Annette was estatic, but she was not sure how she would tell her husband because the doctor said that any sudden surprises could trigger his heart, and he could have a heart attack. So... she called their pastor.
"Pastor," she asked, "I have a problem. Do you think that you could come over, and I'll explain the situation?"
So the Pastor came over before Harvey was back from his therapy walk. Annette explained the situation, and her pastor listened intently.
When Harvey came back, the three of them got comfortable and sat down in the den.
"Harvey," the Pastor began, "I'm taking a poll, and I must ask you what you would do if you were to win $1.5 million."
Harvey thought hard. "Well," he started, "I'd start of by giving $750,000 of it to the Church."
Then, the Pastor had a heart attack and died right then and there. |
