Considerations before buying:
- Cockatoos make good pets if properly treated.However,they must be provided with other cockatoos to keep them company or tamed and played with every day.You
cannot leave a cockatoo in a cage and leave it.
- Cockatoos are very destructive and can be noisy if they
do not have enough attention.
- Cockatoos need a cage at least 3 feet long,1.5 feet wide
and 2 feet high for small cockatoos,3 feet long,2 feet wide
and 3 feet high for large cockatoos and 5 feet long,3 feet
wide and 5 feet high for the palm cockatoo.
Cockatoo or macaw?
When considering to buy a large parrot,many people prefer to buy macaws instead of cockatoos.You might think that macaws are larger,more beautiful and more impressive than cockatoos,and are just as easily tamed and are better
talkers.However,although they are easily tamed,they can turn
aggressive during the breeding season.Cockatoos are not likely to turn aggressive during the breeding season.They are also need smaller cages than macaw.
