| A great defender who is an England International central defender. He is quick, and strong in the air and on the ground. He is difficult to tackle, when he have the ball. He is an excellent defender, who can be even better than the great Paul McGrath. Ehiogu is improving his passing, but it is difficult for a tall person with long legs. Ehiogu is the main heart of the Villa defence. He is very consistent, as he rarely has a bad game for Villa. He is very popular with the fans. Some called him Son of God (McGrath). He had an incredible game at Wembley helping Villa to win 3-0 against Leeds. Ugo then improve his game slowly, as he have to play without McGrath who went to Derby. He is no 1 central defender at the club, looking after Southgate and Scimeca. Ugo have a reasonable season this season. Ugo leave his native East London, to join West Bromwich Albion for YTS for two years. He have studied in local college doing a Business and Finance Diploma, He learn his trade at West Bromwich. West Bromwich offer an contract for Ugo to turn professional, Ugo wanted £10 more a week, so he can travel to London easier. Albion refused. Ugo was advised by PFA to write to other clubs. Ugo got a reply from Villa, offering him a trial. Big Ron sign him up for Villa afterwards. Ugo have left West Bromwich with 2 substitute appearances. Ugo make his debut for Aston Villa against Arsenal, by helping Villa to win 3-1 in August 1991. Ugo as a kid love to play central forward. Ugo have to be patience waiting for an opportunity to break in the first team, as Big Ron favour Paul McGrath and Shaun Teale partnership in 4-4-2 formation. Ugo have some games, he began to play regularly in 1993-94 season. But He was very unlucky not to make Villa's 13 for Wembley against Manchester United. Ugo have been great form since then, helping Villa to survive relegation battle, play his part in Europe by beating Inter Milan and co. Ugo benefits from Brian Little's management as he find his job easier with 3 man central defender system. Ugo show his class, and help Villa to win the Coca~Cola Cup and improve the league form quickly. Ugo now become one of top central defender in English football, which enable bids from Leeds United for £5 Million, but whether it is true or not. Ugo now worth more than £5 million. We can't afford to sell him, after losing McGrath to Derby. Ugo have shown his part by scoring some invaluable match winning goals. Ugo made his debut against China at Beijing. He only has about 15 minutes of England International experience by coming on a substitute. Ugo was unlucky to miss out a chance in Euro 96, thank to Terry Venables's love of Tottenham Hotspur players. He was a former England U21 captain. Glenn Hoddle have not picked Ugo Ehiogu yet. It is time for him to have another chance. Ugo was tipped to become the England captain, according to Big Ron, but who listen to Big Ron these days. A lot of Villa fan believe Ugo Ehiogu is must better defender than overrated Sol Campbell of Tottenham and England. Ugo couldn't get into England team because England like defenders who is comfortable on the ball. Ugo Ehiogu's form for 1998-99 have been outstanding for Aston Villa as he help Villa to stay at the top of premier league for several month from September to January, his season come to shock end thank to an dangerous accidently kick into the eye from Newcastle United and England captain Alan Shearer which force Ugo to stop playing for a few months while his eye is under repair. His tower of strength is sorely missed by Villa as Villa struggles without Ugo in the defence which seen Villa losing seven out eight games since January. Recently Ugo Ehiogu made a comeback against Nottingham Forest for the last 20 minutes since having 3 operation to repair his eye. Ugo say his eye will never be the same, but is ok to play football with his eye. Since his comeback he made two appearance before End of 1998-99 season. Ugo his part in restoring the strength of heart of Villa defence. He with Gareth Southgate and Colin Calderwood as Villa central defensive trio. Since Ehiogu's return Villa have kept 4 clean sheet, with 4 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat thank to an own goal from the giant. Outside football, he is an nice easy going bloke who is an extremely fussy eater. He fancy to work as stockbroker in the City when he retire from football. According to unreliable newspaper Ugo Ehiogu is a £13,000,000 target for Manchester United, any transfer would not happens as Villa didn't want to pay 50% of transfer fee to West Bromwich Albion.
