THE ONE WITH THE PRINCESS LEIA FANTASY - PREMIERE (Episode 49)
The gang has accepted that Chandler is in love with Janice, except for Joey. Janice insists they spend a day together, and although they have fun, Joey still hates her. Monica begins the painstaking recovery from her breakup with Dr. Burke. Her Dad stops by and casually mentions that Richard is a mess, and Monica's relieved to know she's not alone. Ross tells Rachel his own ultimate fantasy - Princess Leia. Rachel tells Phoebe about Ross's weird obsession, but Phoebe assures her every single male in their generation is similarly afflicted. Later, Ross catches Phoebe teasing Rachel and is mortified. Rachel insists it's not betrayal, it's just that women tell each other 'everything.' Ross makes an effort to 'share' with Chandler and we learn why men just can't.

THE ONE WHERE NO ONE'S READY (Episode 50)
Ross is invited to be the featured speaker at a black-tie benefit at the museum. He asks the whole gang to come, but all are in the midst of a crisis, so no one is ready. Monica's a mess because she's discovered a message from Richard on her machine. They haven't spoken for weeks and she can't figure out if the message is new or old. Chandler and Joey battle over who called the right to sit in a certain chair first. Phoebe spills a drink and ruins her dress. Knowing she always takes forever to get ready, Ross tell Rachel they have to leave a half hour earlier. But she finds out and is so angry that she refuses to go to the benefit.

THE ONE WITH THE JAM (Episode 51)
Phoebe notices someone tailing her everywhere she goes. When she confronts him, he thinks she's Ursula. The two bond, and Phoebe starts dating him. Phoebe tests him by pretending she's Ursula, and he breaks up with her, claiming he can't date someone who's obsessed. Monica decides to give up on men, and get into the jam business, which quickly goes south when she realizes what she needs is a baby. She reads a profile on one of the donors and realizes it's Joey's, who is disheartened that no one has chosen him. Monica soon forgets the idea, realizing she's not ready to give up on men. Chandler grapples with his new relationship, Ross and Rachel give him advice on romance.

THE ONE WITH THE METAPHORICAL TUNNEL (Episode 52)
Chandler confronts his fear of commitment, and Joey tells him that if he wants to make it 'throughout the tunnel,' he has to super-commit. Chandler over-compensates and suggests they go on vacation, and demands to meet her parents. Janice freaks, and Chandler laments over ice cream with the girls. Ross is troubled when Ben chooses a Barbie doll as his 'transitional object,' which leads to a discussion about gender fears. Joey misses an audition when Phoebe forgets to give him a phone message. So, Phoebe becomes Joey's full-agent, but is crushed when she has to tell Joey he didn't get the part. Joey says it's okay, but not standing rejection well, Phoebe quits herself.

THE ONE WITH FRANK, JR. (Episode 53)
Excited to get to know her brother, Phoebe invites Frank Jr. down for the weekend. It's quickly apparent that the two have nothing in common. She takes him with her to work and offers him a free massage, which he mistakes as Phoebe's being a prostitute. As it turns out, Frank Jr. is thrilled to have a half-sister as cool as Phoebe. Chandler tells Ross that he and Janice each have a top-five list of celebrities they' can be intimate with, without the other getting mad, and Ross and Rachel make their own lists. The game becomes reality when Ross runs into his #4 at the coffeehouse. Joe fills his apartment with wood, as he builds an entertainment center from scratch, and offers to re-do Monica's kitchen floor simultaneously.

THE ONE WITH THE FLASHBACK (Episode 54)
Janice asks which of the gang have been intimate, and Rachel says that two of them have been close. The story unfolds three years earlier. Rachel has just gotten engaged, and tells Monica, within Chandler's earshot, that she should have one last fling. Phoebe is still living with Monica, and Chandler is looking for a roommate. Joey inquires about the place and Monica develops a crush on him. Chandler chooses Joey, and Phoebe moves out of Monica's place. Eventually, we learn Ross and Phoebe were close to being intimate. Ross's wife announced she was a lesbian, and Phoebe is there to comfort him. The line between friendship and romance gets blurry, but not enough to cross the line.

THE ONE WITH THE RACE CAR BED (Episode 55)
Joey gets a job teaching classes, and learns that one of his best students is up for the same part as Joey, who gives the student bogus advice. The student gets wise when he sees Joey's name, and causes Joey to humiliate himself. Rachel invites Ross and her father to dinner, which goes horribly. Rachel gives it one more shot, and they finally bond when they discuss how Rachel can better herself. Janice shrieks at the sight of a Mattress King commercial, as her ex-husband is the King. Monica is elated at the low prices, and goes to the Mattress King to buy a bed. When Monica gets home she's appalled to find they've delivered a little boy's race car bed, and Phoebe's signed for it. Joey discovers where she got it, and barges into the King's office, to find him kissing Janice.

THE ONE WITH THE GIANT POKING DEVICE (Episode 56)
Joey tells Chandler about catching Janice, and Chandler immediately confronts Janice. Chandler decides he can't break up a family, and encourages Janis to work it out with her husband. Phoebe has a tooth ache, but refuses to go to the dentist, because when she does, someone dies. Finally she gives in, and it looks like her curse is broken, until Joey notices that their neighbor is a little too still in his hammock. Joey pokes him with a giant poking device, made of chopsticks. Monica and Rachel baby-sit Ben, and Monica hits Ben's head on the ceiling. They cover up the bump with a hat, but Ben learns to say Monka' and 'Bang,' and the charade is over.

THE ONE WITH THE FOOTBALL - THANKSGIVING SHOW (Episode 57)
Monica cooks, while the rest of the gang watch football. Celebration turns to competition, when the guys convince the girls to play three-on-three: Monica, Joey, and Phoebe vs. Ross, Chandler, and Rachel. Monica and Ross each coach and relive their sibling rivalry. Joey and Chandler fight over a Dutch woman, Margha, who stopped by the park.

THE ONE WHERE RACHEL QUITS - CHRISTMAS SHOW (Episode 58)
Rachel must go through waitress training again, and Chandler and Joey convince to face unemployment, and pursue her dreams. Rachel quits her job at the coffeehouse, and Joey gets her an interview at a fashion house where his dad's working. She gets the job, and finds her responsibilities include making coffee. Ross knocks a cookie-selling 'Brown Bird' down a flight of stairs, causing a hairline fracture to her tibia. Ross feeling horribly guilty, and starts selling door-to-door. Joey gets a job selling Christmas trees. Phoebe feels sorry for the trees, as the trees that turn brown before they sell are put into a wood chipper. Monica and Chandler buy up all the nearly dead trees for Phoebe.
