As SmackDown! kicked off from the sold-out Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif., the DX Express pulled up. The DX Express was a bus filled with all the members of D-Generation X. The DX members, including Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Tori, exited the bus and made their way to the ring. First off, the New Age Outlaws declared that the Dudley Boyz have a "snowball's chance in Hell" of winning the Tag Team Titles. X-Pac, "thanking" his friend Triple H for putting him a no-holds-barred match with Kane, said that even though he wasn't exactly happy about the match, he'd still make sure Kane didn't get retribution. In an attempt to prove that X-Pac had nothing to worry about, Triple H said he'd take on the Big Red Machine later on SmackDown! X-Pac then declared that he'd face Cactus Jack in a Hardcore Match on SmackDown! As the game of "I can do better" continued, the New Age Outlaws were booked into a tag team match against The Rock and the Big Show!

Backstage, Crash and Hardcore Holly walked past Mark Henry and Mae Young, who were talking "sweet talk." Hardcore told "Sexual Chocolate" that he found his actions revolting. When Henry told Holly to watch his mouth, Holly responded by having Henry watch his fists! Crash pushed over Mae, and then the Holly cousins double teamed Henry, putting quite the beating on him.

The World Wrestling Federation Championship was on the line in the first match of the night as Triple H took on Kane, accompanied by Paul Bearer. The Big Red Machine had the advantage until the cavalry arrived. X-Pac and the Outlaws helped the champion gang up on Kane and Paul Bearer. The DX boys dragged Bearer and Kane all the way out to the DX Express, and then locked both of them in a baggage compartment of the bus before instructing the driver to drive away.

Next up, Kurt Angle took on Chyna. The "Olympic hero" earned himself a disqualification when he clobbered the Ninth Wonder of the World with his European Title. Angle continued his assault after the bell until Chris Jericho appeared to help his friend Chyna.

Backstage, Mark Henry paid Faarooq and Bradshaw of the "Acolyte Protection Agency" to look after Mae Young while he took care of business. "Sexual Chocolate" immediately challenged the Hollys to a No Disqualification Handicap Match later on SmackDown! Once the Acolytes realized the Mae had money, they dealt her in to their card game. But Mae clearly fared better than Faarooq and Bradshaw expected, and she even joined the Acolytes by smoking a cigar. In spite of the Acolytes objections, she also insisted that "just one" beer wouldn't hurt the baby.

In singles competition, Tazz finished off Gangrel with the Tazzmission.

After the match, Lilian Garcia interviewed Cactus Jack. He said he couldn't make any guarantees about his Hell in a Cell against Triple H at No Way Out except that he would go up to the top of the cage and fly off once again. Except, he said, this time "it won't be a table I crash through; it'll be your body."

In a Hardcore Match, Cactus took on X-Pac. The two superstars battled through the bowels of the arena.. Once they went through the exit doors, the other members of DX attacked Cactus. Just like Kane and Paul Bearer before him, Cactus was thrown into a baggage compartment of the bus, which then drove off once again.

Too Cool broke it down to the ring for a match against Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko. Too Cool was in control - no jive - but when the referee was distracted, Eddy Guerrero appeared and clobbered Scotty Too Hotty with a steel pipe, and Malenko covered him for the victory. Guerrero, Saturn and Malenko triple teamed Too Cool. Rikishi, his ankle already injured by Guerrero's weapon on Monday, hobbled to the ring to help his homies. However, the Radicals ganged up on him, sandwiched his ankle in a steel chair and hammered it with the steel ring steps. Rikishi had to be taken to a hospital as he ankle was severely injured and perhaps broken.

Guerrero, who in spite of his elbow injury had "challenged" Rikishi earlier, insisted that ring announcer Tony Chimel declare Guerrero the winner by forfeit and that the referee raise his hand in victory. He and his Radical cohorts celebrated his "hard-fought" win.

Kevin Kelly interviewed The Rock, who insisted that he and WrestleMania go together like bacon and eggs. With that in mind, he promised to beat the Big Show from pillar to post and go to WrestleMania 2000 to become the next WWF Champion. Turning his attention to his scheduled tag team match with the Big Show against the New Age Outlaws on SmackDown!, The Rock insisted that he didn't want or need the Big Show as his partner - in fact, his partner for the night would be the people.

The speed and quickness of Edge and Christian battled the sheer power of Prince Albert and Big Boss Man in tag team action. Christian tried to roll over Prince Albert into a sunset flip. When he had a little trouble, his brother Edge helped out by delivering a missile dropkick. That got the Prince on his back, and Christian and Edge picked up the victory. After the match, the Prince and Boss Man took out their frustration by putting a post-match beating on the young Canadians.

After smoking all their cigars, drinking all their beer and winning all their money, the Acolytes wondered what else Mae Young could possible want. Mae instructed Faarooq and Bradshaw to take back their money and come with her.

In a No Disqualification Handicap Match, the Holly cousins doubled up on Mark Henry. Just as the match got underway, Mae directed Faarooq and Bradshaw to the ring, where they practically destroyed the Hollys. Henry was able to easily win the match by simply covering one of the nearly unconscious Hollys.

After declaring that he didn't need a partner, The Rock went at it alone against the New Age Outlaws. The People's Champion delivered a spinebuster to Road Dogg and followed up with a Rock Bottom on Mr. Ass. The Rock had the opportunity to make history by winning the Tag Team Championship by himself. However, when the "Great One" covered Mr. Ass, the Big Show's music played, and The Rock got up and turned his attention to the Show. Within seconds, it had become three on one, with the Outlaws and the Show ganging up on The Rock. Then it become five on one when Triple H and X-Pac joined in outside the arena. The Rock put up a valiant effort, but finally DX and Big Show were able to throw the People's Champion into a baggage compartment. D-Generation X jumped in as the bus drove off, leaving the Big Show behind to wave goodbye. Unbeknownst to him, The Rock had somehow managed to make a Houdini-like escape from the bus. As the Show sarcastically waved away, The Rock came from behind and clobbered him with a two-by-four as SmackDown! came to an end!
