| Final Fantasy X: Square reveals more |
Square has become much more loquacious as of late regarding the upcoming Final Fantasy X; the latest installment in the company's famed RPG franchise. The president of Square, Hisashi Suzuki, went on record recently to comment on several aspects on the hyped title. Specifically, Suzuki-san had a good deal to say on the title's economic goals. In a logical statement, Suzuki-san commented that the installed base of the PlayStation 2 at the time of Final Fantasy X's release will hold the key to the title's success. The Square president continued to boast an optimistic goal of 2.5 Million copies sold for the first double-digit Final Fantasy.
Square also commented that the previously stated goal of 2.5 million units will be relatively feasible if the PlayStation 2 achieves its released target of 5 Million units sold in the Japanese market by next year's March. Despite the arduous battle ahead to achieve their goals (even if the PlayStation 2 does meet its Japanese goal, one half of the user base would have to buy FFX in order to make Square's goal a reality), Suzuki-san has retained confidence in Square's upcoming product.
