Cynthia and I went to see "Runaway Bride" this afternoon ... an EXCELLENT movie! The characters in this one are lovable and very REAL! We enjoyed it a great deal!

THEN we snuck into the "Blair Witch Project" and BOTH of us got so dizzy that we had to leave. I guess if you sat further away from the screen it wouldn't of been so bad, but this was dizzying!

After we got home, I went to Fogles and picked me up a hot club sandwich (it's not Shanes, but it's good) and a Pepsi. Over all, the afternoon has been nice ... actually, the whole WEEK has been nice. I suppose this is my last week to "goof" off until school starts again!

My class reunion is next Saturday. The closer and closer it gets, the more and more excited about it I am. I positively can't WAIT to see what everyone is up to these days!

Well ... it's seven now and I really want to spend time with the kids. Eric pulls an all nighter starting at eleven tonight and I want to fix him a nice dinner before he heads off.

Take care of each other ... life is REALLY amazing!

LOTS of email today from people asking if I was close to the Atlanta shootings. The answer is "yes". The exwife and children have attended my church which chills me to the bone. Their apartment was less than five miles from our home.

Backing up. Okay ... just after lunch I heard about the shootings up in Buckhead, but as far as anyone knew THEN, the guy was somewhere in the building. At five I met my girlfriend Holly at the theater and we watched a movie. About twenty minutes into the movie, my pager went off ... Eric was warning me that the guy was suspected of being somewhere in Stockbridge which was close to where Holly and I were.

All the way through the movie, pagers and cell phones were going off ... everyone seemed to be getting the word. I felt pretty safe in the movie, but still, Holly and I did worry a little over leaving alone. So, we went to Atlanta Bread company and got a bowl of soup and a cup of coffee.

It was while we were there that her brother came in and told us that the exwife and kids had attended our church. He was picking up danish and sort of ran into us. Then he left, we continued our late supper and talked about an hour.

We finished and got back in my van so I could drive her to her Jeep. We were JUST pulling out of the lot when we heard that the guy had committed suicide up in Ackworth.

It's so sad ... I can't imagine a guy being so out of touch with reality that he goes to such extremes that he shoots children. I feel especially sad for his family and the agony they must be going through this evening.

Although the evening ended on a sad note, I'm relieved that he's not on the run. During times like this, I just want to pack my family up and leave ... just get my family closer to the country ... further out ... away from the rat race of city living. Atlanta is a scary place to bring up children. I'm hoping that will all change within the next four years. The more I think on it, the warmer I grow to the idea of moving to Kentucky.

It's a thought.

Take extra special care of each other this evening. Life is too sweet to take for granted.

As Ever ...

Brownies are cooking in the oven and the house is FILLED with the sounds of giggling children! Alex and Alli have friends over and they JUST got out of the pool! Right now they are all in the living room acting like MONKEYS!

Anyway, we're going to make Hot Fudge Brownies with icecream in a bit ... the kids are decorating theirs. I've got to go in there and get out all the decorating stuff! I think they'll have a ball!

Boy YOWZA is it ever hot! I think my TEETH are sweating!

Oh, speaking of teeth. I've got to get my wisdom teeth pulled. Uuugh. But! Still, I have no cavaties (never HAVE had one)! The roots of my wisdom teeth are starting to curl around the molars. I could either have a root canal or just get them pulled. Since I don't really use them that much to chew, I opted for having them pulled. I'll keep you all posted!

Oh, by the way. The cards you all sent me about my hair was hysterical! Thanks guys ... three of you sent the SAME card! *grin*

Alright ...
Take care of each other!

Alright alright! Shut up! I know I KNOW!!!

I cut it. No ... it's not short ... it's still fairly long, it's just ... just ... spunkier. Yeah, that's the word. It's spunky. I look sassy. I like it ... it's a nice change. I'll wear it like this till it grows out. *sigh*

My girlfriend Cynthia and I took the kids to eat today and then did a little Gap shopping. We had a great time, but now I'm worn out. It's been a doozie of a day.

Take care of each other!

To cut, or not to cut ... that is the question.

I'm obviously talking about my hair. Grrrrrrr. It's long enough right now to put up into a nice little clip and look pretty nice. But then again, there's this haircut I've had my eye on for a while ... Courtney Thorne Smith (from Ally McBeal). I LOVE that haircut! But I keep falling over into the "what if I hate it?" pit.

Today I'm torn. I've got the time AND the inspiration to go out and DO it. Just get it all whacked off and .... whacked ... that just may have been the word that saved me. I really don't think I REALLY want to do that. It's a nice haircut, but I'll miss grabbing my hair, spinning it up into a knot and clipping it. You can't do that with short hair.

Alright ... thanks for listening. I'm over it. No haircuts for me today ... at least nothing that drastic. I may get the ends trimmed, but that's it.

Time to fold clothes .... uugh .... actually it's not the FOLDING I hate. It's really the putting away. Oh WHY can't they put themselves away?!?!?!

Take care of each other! Thanks for listening!

Good evening everyone! I hope everyone is doing very well! Aside from the heat, we all seem to be having a NORMAL week for once! Today was quite relaxing ... I scoured the tubs and cleaned the tile grout in the kitchen, but other than that, I kept things pretty calm. The kids swam in the pool today while I worked in the garden ... not many tomatoes left, but I'm still picking peppers almost daily!

We took off to Picadilly for dinner tonight. On a whim I just decided it was too hot to cook, so we took off for the afternoon. The kids and I are camping out in the playroom tonight. Eric goes into work in the morning at FIVE and we thought we'd take the evening to munch on popcorn and watch movies so he could go to bed early.

Oh ... get this ... my 20 year class reunion happens in two weeks on the 7th of August. It'll be REALLY interesting to see how much we've all changed. I can hardly wait ... it'll be nice to see everyone again. There were only 29 of us in my graduating class, so I'm hoping MOST of us will be there!

Two of our group has died. My cousin, David, was accidently shot in an emergency room here in Jonesboro. And another classmate, Frank, was killed in a car wreck. It's really sad ... I miss David so much sometime I can hardly STAND it! He was such a great guy ... as far as cousins go, he was the best.

Well ... I'm off to the playroom!

Take care of each other, alright?
As Ever,

Let me be the first to warn you if you haven't handed over your eight bucks to see "Eyes Wide Shut" yet.

FOR GODS SAKE DON'T DO IT!!!
It was the most agonizing forty mintes of my LIFE! Cynthia and I watched the first twenty minutes and spent it giving each other sideways glances, killing over laughing at the AWFUL writing, and the rediculous dialog. How long can two people dance and make small talk? Oh my GOODNESS!!! It was HORRIBLE!!!

So, we left and went to see "Big Daddy" ... great little movie. After it was over, we came BACK to "Eyes Wide Shut" and nearly KILLED ourselves laughing through the rest of the movie!

Yes. I would recommend it because it was Kubricks last ... the story WAS interesting. BUT! I THINK you could tell he was sick ... oh my GOODNESS! It took them three HOURS to say what I could rattle off in ten minutes! AGONY!

Tom and Nicole were beautiful on screen together ... but apart ... it was like watching moss grow. And what was with the mask on the pillow?!?!?

Anyway ... since so many people were asking about how "I" liked the movie, I thought I'd let you know. If give the choice of seeing it AGAIN or having my teeth scraped ... I'll take the scraping anyday.

G'nite All!

It's been a busy week so far. I've been trying to put things together for the upcoming school year ...now that VBS is behind me, I can concentrate a little better on what I need to get done!

It's so sad about JFK Jr. isn't it? Although I didn't feel any particular connection to him, or have a great interest in him ... I find the whole situation incredibly sad. I just pray with all my heart that their fate came quickly and that they didn't have to suffer.

It's a beautiful Georgia day here today! The kids and I went out for breakfast this morning and tonight some friends of mine and myself are heading out to the movies. Yesterday I went with a friend to have sushi ... ummmm ... I love the shrimp sushi and california rolls. Fabulous!

Last night Eric and I took the kids to eat Cuban food at our favorite Cuban restaurant not far from here! Eric had the Jerk Chicken and I had the Jamacan Stead and jerk shrimp. the black beans and rice was wonderful but I'm DEFINATELY feeling the effects of it today! *grin*

Well, the day plunders on. I'm off to the grocery store!

The day is coming to a close and I'm sincerely glad that this nutty week is over! Finally, sometime yesterday, I felt myself pop up into the sunshine again! All the kids from VBS sang in church this morning and it went famously! I was SO pleased and they sang PERFECTLY!

Now I'm back to the grind ... all afternoon I've been getting caught up on the laundry I let slide a bit this past week when things were so nutty! Earlier today, the kids and I walked down to the garden and picked a big wicker basket FULL of fresh garden tomatoes (both Roma and Better Boys), cayenne peppers, bell peppers, and purple hull peas.

I made us a batch of homemade salsa this afternoon which the kids and I gobbled up by mixing it with melted Velveeta. Ummmmm ... heavenly! I think my tomatoes this year are better than EVER!

Alex picked his pumpkin today (homemade pumpkin pies will turn up on the table in a few days) ... but three of our six watermellons exploded from the ammount of rain they've got this season. The other three are doing alright, but I'm holding my breath. I don't want to lose them.

Well ... my day plunders on. I've got clothes to fold and another load of jeans to wash!

Take care of each other, alright???

It's SO early in the morning and I've no idea what pulled me out of bed. Nevertheless, I'm up and ready for the day! It's the last day of VBS and I'm both thrilled and sad that it's over. The week has been really great despite the fact that I've been wrestling with a personal disaster since Wednesday. Hopefully, the worst part of it is over and I can get past my guilt. But as for now, I'm content to live with it and learn from it.

I suppose all really GOOD lessons are meant to be learned the hard way. I've been struggling with this one for over twenty years! I'm not exactly ready to close the book on it all together, but I CAN and WIIL put it away until another day. Sometimes, it's better to save the best chapters for later anyway.

Everything else is chaos as usual. VBS, helping a friend paint a mural, being busy with the kids, and preparing myself for college again this fall. I'd like to earn my doctorate eventually ... it'll be a LONG road, but the mind stimulation will be VERY welcomed!

Well ... the coffee pot is calling me and I want to have time to fix Eric and the kids a nice fluffy batch of blueberry muffins before I have to get dressed for VBS! (I'm the damsel in distress.)

Take care of each other ...

Our fourth of July holiday was wonderful ... not one, but TWO nights of fireworks, MOUNDS of bar-b-que and a LOT of rest and relaxation. It was everything a holiday should be only a little bit better. I won't go into all the grizzly details, but rest assured, we had a very nice weekend to say the least.

Now it's over and it's back to the grind. I'm putting in stained glass windows around my front door and in the transoms over the back windows. It's been a tremendous job so far, but I'm enjoying how it's turning out. It looks really REALLY french-country ... cozy, you know what I mean?

Next week I'm putting Eric to work building cornice boards for the windows in the living and dining rooms. I'm painting all the walls in the living room a pale butter cream yellow color, and installing new wallpaper in the dining room ... sort of a buttery yellow print. Really pretty. The curtains will be a yellow color too ... and I'll have white judges paneling below the chair rail. I'm looking forward to the change ... it'll take a while though.

Well, it's late and I'm off to bed.

Take care of each other ...

I suppose everyone needs a good distraction every now and then ... todays distraction was wonderful!

A few nights ago Eric and I watched this special on PBS about the "Best Hot Dogs In America". We lay in bed and watched as our mouths watered and we could nearly taste the onions and mustard. Today we could stand it no more, so we all piled into the van and drove to Macon to Nu-Way Weiners on Cotton Avenue ... one of the places mentioned on the special.

Now Nu-Way is this really REALLY old fashioned hot-dog place ... in my opinion, it qualifies for the title "joint". It is about as wide as a single wide trailor, SMACK in the middle of down-town Macon, the kitchen is in the front, there are round bar stools RIGHT by the grills, and a whole line of booths from the front door to the back. It's old old OLD ... founded in like the nineteen-teens I think.

When you walk in the door, your nostrils try desperately to identify the smell ... it's unlike any smell you've ever smelled. It isn't the onions, or the slaw ... it isn't even the red wieners ... I think it's just the smell of decades of the whole place. It's amazing ... you instantly want to eat what ever it is that smells like that.

We ate at a booth and Rochellanda waited on our table ... we ordered up the kid packs for the kids, I got two red dogs (that's a hot dog with chili and onions), and Eric ordered up two FULL red dogs (that's with chili, onions, mustard and slaw). We got some fries too.

In the mean time, I checked out how they'd been graded by the health department and was happy to find they got a 100 this go around and got a 100 the last time too. With that, I sat back down. Our order came ... BLOOD red hot dogs sat on our plates, drenched in the most unusual chili mixture you've ever seen and it was HEAVENLY! A soft toasted bun ... ummmm ... it was amazing!!!! The fries were everything a french fry SHOULD be, crispy on the outside, soft and creamy on the inside. It was wonderful!

But the cokes ... they have flakey ice, something they are famous for. Flakey ice is known to keep cokes colder and more wonderful than ANY OTHER kind of ice on the planet. PLUS, you can crunch it and not break your teeth out!!! But wait, there's more ... Chocolate Malteds came with every meal and let me TELL you how wonderfully creamy and delicious THAT was! It was like a little chunk of heavenly food on earth. We were in HEAVEN!

After we ate we walked around downtown Macon, bought the kids each a Beanie Baby and then took off for Warner Robbins and the Air Force Museum. Today was family day ... and Crystal Gayle was there. Of course she had a wad of people following her around like flies on honey, so we avoided the crowds and toured the hangars where NO ONE was! It was almost like having the whole place to ourselves! We enjoyed it greatly!!!
