"The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes is one of the wrestling industry's most recognizable faces.
A former NWA World Heavyweight champion with a gift for gab like no other, Dusty's hardcore wars in the now-defunct National Wrestling Alliance with the likes of Tully Blanchard, Ric Flair, Terry Funk, Kevin Sullivan and others are the stuff of legend.
When the happily-retired Rhodes visited Extreme Championship Wrestling during a tour of Georgia, it was to say hello to a few friends. Then, Steve Corino decided to take Dusty's attendance as a chance to slander him, "The American Dream" would have nothing of it, laying Corino and his henchmen out with the world famous "Bionic Elbow."
At Guilty As Charged 2000, Corino again tried to insult Rhodes, but Corino had already lit the dormant competitive fire in "The American Dream" and Rhodes came to ring. This time, however, Corino had a Plan B, and Rhino hit the ring to attack and lay out Dusty. Dusty returned the favor at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia and came to a headline shattering decision: It was time to return to the ring!
With vengeance in mind, "The American Dream" made his return to the ring here in Extreme Championship Wrestling!
