Tony Schiavone
When fans think of WCW on television they automatically think of Tony Schiavone. As host of three of World Championship Wrestling's television programs (WCW Monday Nitro, WCW Saturday Night and WCW World Wide Wrestling), Tony brings all the play-by-play action into millions of homes each week.
A graduate of James Madison University, Schiavone began his broadcasting career in 1981. As the voice of the Greensboro Hornets baseball club, Schiavone was named the South Atlantic League's Broadcaster of the Year. A year later he moved up to the Charlotte Orioles for four seasons and was honored as the Southern League's Broadcaster of the Year in 1984.
Always a devout wrestling fan, Schiavone left the baseball diamond in 1985 to pursue a career in the squared circle. He adjusted to the sport easily and quickly gained the reputation of being one of the sharpest minds in wrestling. Today, millions of fans across the nation tune in to WCW programming to get his unique insight on all the action.
Schiavone, a native of Craigsville, VA, is married and has five children. When not in the ring, he relaxes by watching his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees, and spending time with his family.
