Terry Funk

Height: 6'1"
Weight: 247 lbs
Hometown: Amarillo, Texas
Birthday: June 30, 1944
Pro Debut: December 9, 1965
Signature Maneuver: The Chicken Punch

Terry Funk was born June, 30 1944. Take that in for a moment. 1944. That makes him 56 years old, the oldest active competitor in WCW history. That feat, in and of itself, makes Terry Funk extraordinary. When you add in his multiple NWA World Title reigns, you have, hyperbole aside, a living legend. If there was one man who defined the grit, determination, glory and scars of professional wrestling, that man would be Terry Funk.

Career History
Terry Funk's career has spanned 35 years...Trained by his father, Texas wrestling legend Dory Funk... Won the NWA World Title in a best of three falls match with Jack Brisco... Defended the belt against legends Brisco and Harley Race several time... Has a high-profile title defense against his brother, Dory Funk Jr... Invaded Japan for the first time as a tag team with his brother... Retired (briefly) in 1983... Feuded with Ric Flair for the NWA Title in the 1980s... Broke Flair's neck with a piledriver on a table... Participated in the first ever Thunderdome match at Halloween Havoc (teaming with Great Muta against Flair and Sting)... Returned to Japan in the early '90s... Debuted with ECW in 1994... Retired again in 1995 only to come back once again... Joined WCW in 1999 as the new troubleshooting commissioner... Lost his position to Kevin Nash at Souled Out 2000... Shifted from front office to wrestler soon after... He won the WCW Hardcore Title and dominated that division for the first half of 2000... Continues to be one of the most popular men in WCW.

Wrestling Style
You name it, Terry Funk will do it. Barbed wire? No problem. Exploding cage? No problem. Ring on fire? Yawn. There is no question; Terry Funk has survived by being the most psychotic man in wrestling. His style isn't pretty, but it's extremely effective. Gone are the days of the Spinning Toehold. Today's Terry Funk is more likely to send a branding iron to your face than hook you in a small package.

Did You Know?
Owns and runs the Double-Cross Ranch in Amarillo, Texas... Defeated Sputnik Monroe in his ring debut in 1965... Funk's first title reign lasted two years... Has attained icon status in Japan for his long career and insane ring work... Was introduced to barbed wire matches in Japan's FMW, IWA and Big Japan promotions... Was featured in the critically acclaimed "Beyond The Mat"... An accomplished actor with appearances in "Road House," "Over the Top," and "Quantum Leap"... Was the first wrestler to use a chicken as a weapon... The Gordie Howe of wrestling.
