Jimmy Hart
Pro wrestling¥s greatest manager is Jimmy "Mouth of the South" Hart. Shouting instructions with his trusty megaphone while clad in his multi-color jackets and dark shades, Hart has directed the most famed careers in the squared circle.
Raised among the rich Memphis musical tradition of world-famous blues and rock and roll, Jimmy Hart first reached notoriety as a singer for The Gentrys, who exploded with the gold hit "Gotta Keep on Dancin," which reached #3 on the Billboard charts ¥ right behind the Beatles. The Gentrys made four albums, appeared on Dick Clark¥s American Bandstand and toured with Sonny and Cher, Steppenwolf and the Beach Boys.
Following musical success, Hart segued into pro wrestling in his hometown of Memphis, where he began managing Jerry "The King" Lawler. Hart's most famous feud was with comedian Andy Kaufman. His matches have been shown in tributes to Kaufman's life on E! Entertainment, Comedy Central and the Jim Carrey movie Man On The Moon. Hart's athleticism in his matches came naturally to this all-city football receiver from Treadwell High.
Hart's managing stable reads like a who's who among wrestling tough guys from mega-star Hulk Hogan to The Hart Foundation with Bret Hart. He has also watched over the Dungeon of Doom, Nasty Boys, Meng, Barbarian, Adrian Adonis and the First Family. This feisty fireball has inflamed fans and opponents alike with his tirades and ring antics.
Still very musically active, Hart has written, produced and performed the music for many wrestling superstars. His album Hulk Hogan's Wrestling Boot Band was among the top-ten selling children's albums, and the first WCW release entitled Mayhem features many Hart tracks. Hart has also made celebrity appearances on Baywatch, Family Feud and various specials on MTV and VH1.
Behind the scenes, Hart is a creative force who influences all WCW programs with an emphasis on WCW Saturday Night, the longest running wrestling show on television.
Whenever Hart finds time to relax in his home in Tampa, he enjoys collecting sports and wrestling memorabilia. There is only one musical and wrestling legend known as the "Mouth of the South" and that's Jimmy Hart.
