Eric Bischoff
Eric Bischoff is the mastermind behind the action-packed adventures of all WCW programming and pay-per-view specials. Along with creative partner, Vince Russo, the pair orchestrate the entertainment appeal that has powered WCW Monday Nitro Live on TNT and WCW Thunder among the most watched shows on cable television. Bischoff is one of the most influential men in pro wrestling today.
Prior to his current creative role, Bischoff served for five years as president of World Championship Wrestling. During that time he led the company to record revenues and immense popularity. WCW was cable television's rating and pay-per-view leader from 1996-'98 with a remarkable 83-week streak as the highest rated pro wrestling program. Early in his WCW tenure, he was an announcer and later became executive director. Before coming to Atlanta, Bischoff gained valuable experience with the Minnesota-based American Wrestling Association (AWA), which at the time appeared on ESPN. He was also involved in various duties in the AWA including syndication sales, event promotions, corporate sponsorships and off-line production.
As a magnetic force behind the scenes and on the screen, Bischoff attracts Richter scale cheers and jeers. He has been a front man for the New Blood and the New World Order. His other memorable ring moments include being power bombed through a table by Kevin Nash, wrestling Jay Leno and feuding with the legendary Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair. Bischoff's "evil" promoter mystique was captured in the Warner Bros. movie Ready To Rumble starring David Arquette. Broadening his exposure, he has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, E! Entertainment, Dateline, Jeff Foxworthy Show and various specials.
Eric Bischoff, a native of Detroit and longtime resident Minnesota, attended college at St. Cloud University and the University of Minnesota. Currently he spends time in Atlanta and Cody (Wyoming), with his wife and two children. Bischoff's many hobbies include motorcycles, flying planes, hunting/fishing and martial arts.
