If one were to look up "Ring General" in the dictionary, Arn Anderson's picture would stand boldly next to the description. Known as "The Enforcer," this consummate professional is regarded as one of the best in ring performers of our time.
Arn started his career in 1982, working many of the independent territories, winding up in the Southeast region where he captured several titles in the area. From there he moved into the Georgia and Mid Atlantic regions, where he teamed with his cousin, Ole Anderson to form the Minnesota Wrecking Crew. The two dominated the scene, living up to their nickname, as they left a path of victims along the way.
Although labeled a tag team wrestler most of his career (holding the World Tag Team Titles six times with four different partners), Arn also held the NWA/WCW Television Title on numerous occasions, and is still the longest reigning TV Champion in history. Anderson's greatest success would come as a member of the legendary faction, The Four Horsemen, consisting of himself, Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, and Ole Anderson. Throughout the years, members would come and go, but Flair and Arn were always the rock of the group. The tag team of Anderson and Blanchard will go down as one of the best teams to ever enter the squared circle.
Arn also possesses the skills to perform, arguably, the best interview in the business. While others will scream, yell, and divert you with catch phrases, Arn will look you dead on, state the facts, and leave you trembling in your shoes. His knack on the mic is legendary.
In 1997, Arn Anderson retired from active wrestling after having neck surgery to repair damage suffered in the ring. Anderson wrote a book entitled "Arn Anderson 4Ever, A Look Behind The Curtain," detailing his life and times on the road. While unable to compete inside the ring, Arn continues to be at the forefront of WCW, and will no doubt be a main fixture in the sport as long as he is around.
