Name Rater
The Name Rater is still located in Lavender like he was in Red, Blue, and Yellow.
Also the PokéMart has moved to next to the Pokémon Center for some reason... Oh well.
Now the rest of the game you can do pretty much however you want. But for sake of organization I'll continue on to Celadon City.
Super Rod
But before you go, if you head South of Lavender for a little bit, you'll come to a Fishing Guru's house. He'll give you a Super Rod after you answer 'Yes' to his question.
Also, if you go down a little further, there's a Pokéball with a Nugget inside.
Celadon City Gym - Erika
Erika's Gym - Look neater? Erika is still using her Grass type Pokémon. Jumpluff looks like a Water type but it's still Grass, my Magmar made sure of that.
Erika is simple enough, Fire will disintegrate all of her Pokémon in a couple hits.
After you beat Erika and earn her Rainbow Badge and TM 19, Giga Drain. Now you can head on to Fuchsia City by way of the Bike Path.

Fuchsia City Gym - Janine
Since Koga is off being a member in the Elite Four and all, his daughter, Janine, has taken over his position as Fuchsia City Gym leader.
She uses Poison and Bug type Pokémon so a Psychic and maybe a Electric type for her Flying Pokémon. Crobat is that bat Pokémon that Koga used in his Elite Four battle. Ariados is an evolved Pokémon that resembles a grasshopper.
After beating her you will get her Soul Badge and TM 06, Toxic.
Next time to head back to Vermilion City where an entrance to Diglett's Cave can be found....behind a giant Snorlax that is.

Snorlax
This has got to be the biggest, badest Snorlax ever seen, it takes up a whole 4 screen sprites!
Now that you've got your Radio Upgrade from Lavender Town's Radio Tower go to your PokéGear and go to your Radio slot. Push up to tune it to the PokéFlute station.
Then exit the Radio and press A against Snorlax. You better catch this one, he can make a good Team Member.
Attached to Snorlax is an item called Leftovers. Leftovers will increase your Pokémon's HP after each attack turn is over.
Pewter City Gym - Brock
Brock's Gym Brock still uses Rock Pokémon but just to make it a little more interesting he has added a few Rock/Water combinations for you to struggle with. But don't worry, Hydro Pump can still take them out with no problem. If not, a good Grass attack should do nicely.
And for the other Pokémon: Water attacks.
Brock will give you his Boulder Badge after you defeat him which will make your Pokémon even stronger. Now head East towards Mt. Moon.

Rainbow or Silver Wing
Depending on which version you're playing, talk to this old guy in Pewter City before you leave. He'll give you the Silver Wing (in Gold) which will allow you to catch Lugia. Or the Rainbow Wing (in Silver) which will allow you to catch Ho-oh.
Enter and Exit
Now you can enter Diglett's Cave since Snorlax is not blocking the cave anymore. Head inside, fight some Diglett or Dugtrio, then exit the other side heading for Pewter City.
Nugget
Once outside, visit the fat guy in the little house south of the exit. He'll give you a Nugget for talking to him.
Rival - Round 6
Hey, it's your Rival! Alright! This is the second to last battle with your Rival, and now his Pokémon are quite leveled up.
A strong attack should take out Sneasel pretty quickly.
Golbat can be defeated with a Psychic or Electric attack.
Magneton - Ground, Rock attack.
Gengar - Psychic attack.
Alakazam - Try using some Electric attacks, any Dark moves you just so happen to have would be the best.
3rd Evo Starter - Depends on what type it is. Grass - use Fire, Water - use Electric/Grass, Fire - use Water.

Not Much Else
There's really nothing more to Mt. Moon. It's very short now, compared to what it was like in Red, Blue, and Yellow.
Inside you can find the rare Clefairy. Find a male and female and you can breed them at the Breeding Center for a Pre-Evolution Pokémon.
Jigglypuff are outside Mt. Moon on either side. Find a male and female and you can breed them too for a Pre-Evolution Pokémon.
If you're done with that, head back to Pewter then go all the way South. You don't need to stop by Viridian City, or Pallet Town, just go to Cinnabar Island, or what used to be Cinnabar Island....
Gary
Once you surf to Cinnabar, talk to the only person there. It turns out to be Blue (aka Gary), and after he tells you a long and boring story, he'll fly away.. Don't worry, you'll get to see Blue later.
Cinnabar Island Gym - Not There
The volcano on Cinnabar Island has erupted destroying the Gym. Blaine has relocated the Gym to Seafoam Island. Surf there to fight him.
Seafoam Island Gym - Blaine
Not much here to do. Doesn't even fit the whole screen. Blaine still uses Fire Pokémon but only uses 3 this time around.
Magcargo is an evolved Fire Snail thing. Real weird.
Not much strategy here, Hydro Pump or Surf can pretty much handle Blaine's Pokémon.
After beating Blaine and grabbing his Volcano Badge, head to Viridian City to take on Blue.

Trainer House
There's an excellent place in Viridian City where you can level up your Pokémon and get some cash.
Inside the building next to the PokéMart, go downstairs and talk to the lady. Answer yes and you'll fight a trainer with the following Pokémon:
Pokémon Level Exp.
Meganium 50 2227
Typhlosion 50 2238
Feraligatr 50 2250
Prize: $5000
You can only fight once a day though.
Interestingly enough, after you get the Mystery Gift option to work and use it with a friend, the trainer will then turn into your Friend and have 3 of their Pokémon to battle.
Viridian City Gym - Gary
Gary amongst his giant Legos, has taken over Giovanni's Gym Leader position after he swore he'd give up Team Rocket.
Gary uses Pokémon similar from the old versions, with references to the show as well.
Gary's Pokémon may give you more challenge than previous Gym Leaders since he uses different types.
Pidgeot - Electric move.
Alakazam - Electric move.
Rhydon - Water move.
Gyarados - Electric move.
Exeggutor - Fire move.
Arcanine - Water move.
That shouldn't be all difficult. After getting the Earth Badge from Blue, head back to Pallet Town.

Professor Oak
After beating all 8 Kanto Gym Leaders, visit Professor Oak and he'll open up the path to Silver Cave (or Mt. Silver, both are named for the same thing).
Go to Viridian and take the Route toward Victory Road. Now it will let you in where the passages were being blocked by two guys.
From here you can continue out the door to Silver Mountain or go to Indigo Plateau to fight someone that will be a lot easier than the final battle in Silver Cave...
Before talking to Oak- There's a guard in the way
After talking to Oak-No guard
Indigo Plateau - Rival - Final Battle
Anytime after fighting your Rival at Mount Moon you can fight him again at Indigo Plateau right before you go up the stairs to the Elite Four.
After beating your Rival you can go back to that door to the Silver Cave area to fight some pretty tough Pokémon.

Route 28 - Strong Pokémon
Once you start walking through the grassy areas after the Victory Road door exit, you'll start to encounter some very high level Pokémon.
A couple new ones I encountered were Sneasel at night and Rapidash.
There's a Pokémon Center out here in the middle of nowhere, but luckily for you it will allow you to fly there later when you leave.
TM 47 - Steel Wing
To the right of the PokéCenter on Route 28 there are two cut-able bushes. After them is a house. Talk to the lady inside and she'll give you TM 47, Steel Wing, for talking to her.
Silver Cave Maze
There's different ways you can go throughout Silver Cave. But the only way I could go without a Pokémon with Waterfall was directly to Ash. Ash is really tough, so I suggest your Pokémon be at least in the high 60's if you wish to have even a slight chance.
Blastoise can be taken out with a good Electric attack like Thunder or Thunder Punch.
Charizard can be taken out with a couple Hydro Pumps.
Try taking out Venusaur with a good Fire move or Psychic attack.
Espeon can be very dangerous to you, his Psychic attacks murdalized all my Pokémon the first time I tried to take on Ash. Try using Sneasel or Tyranitar since Dark Pokémon are resistant to Psychic.
Snorlax is Ash's most difficult Pokémon. However, if you have Haunter he would be really useful right about now, being totally resistant to Normal moves and all. Also, Haunter can take advantage of Snorlax always Resting by using Dream Eater. Ha! Take that Snorlax!
Ash will usually send out Pikachu first. Even though he's level 81, Pikachu can be taken out easily with a couple strong attacks. Dugtrio or Sandslash could be quite useful here.
After that you win. Ash leaves, credits role, and you'll get the Game Over screen again. After this you can still play on and on and on. Red will return eventually, so you can fight him again. There's plenty of Pokemon to find still, like the ones i describe next.

Legendary Beasts
243 - Raikou - Electric
244 - Entei - Fire
245 - Suicune - Water
These three Legendary Pokémon have no specific location of where you can find them because they are always on the move throughout the tall grasses of the Johto map. Once you run into one of them you can always keep tabs on where they are by going to your Pokédex and then checking their location (the first choice at the bottom of their Pokédex entry).
The Tower
TM08 Breaks Rocks
Watch Them Scatter
But first, if you haven't already waken them up you will have to go to Ecruteak City. Go in the Burned Tower, break the rock in the way and fall down the little hole. Walk up the stairs and they will awaken and scatter.
Another thing about these Pokémon. They will never attack you, they'll run away the first turn so you'll have a tough time catching them. But don't worry, if you damage them they'll stay damaged until you encounter them again. So the next time I encounter Entei, I'll fight Entei with the same HP it had when it ran away from me. If you knock them out however, they are gone for good.
Entei ran away!
Now I should be able to catch Entei
Lugia - Silver Version
Lugia swimming
Lugia wants to fight!
Go to Olivine (Asagi) City and surf south trying to stay as far to the right as you can. There are 4 entrances to the Whirl Caves where Lugia is so if you follow the wall the first one you come to is the one you need to enter.
Once inside go to the right and choose the top path when it comes to a fork. Now you'll make your way to a waterfall, go down it, then surf up and you should find Lugia swimming in the water.
Lugia is also level 40 and will give you 1257 experience points if you beat him. But DON'T, what are you crazy or something!? Again, using the Master Ball at this time isn't wise.
If you wanted to know, Lugia learns Hydro Pump at level 44.
Lugia - Gold Version
Yes, Lugia can be obtained in the Gold Version, you just won't be able to get it as soon as you got Ho-oh. In Pewter City there is a man who will give you a Silver Wing. Take this Silver Wing and head to the same place as Lugia is in Silver and you will fight a level 70 Lugia.
Ho-oh - Gold Version
Ho-oh on the Rooftop
Ho-oh wants to fight
Go back to Ecruteak (Enjyu) City and go into the northern house. Go in all the stairs and you'll eventually come to a tower. Go inside, work your way through the maze inside, and once you make it to the roof you'll find Ho-oh.
You better save your game before fighting Ho-oh, because like Mewtwo, there is only one. Ho-oh is only level 40 so using the Master Ball isn't a good idea.
Ho-oh - Silver Version
Ho-oh on the Rooftop
Level 70 Ho-oh
Yes, Ho-oh can be obtained in the Silver Version, you just won't be able to get it as soon as you got Lugia. In Pewter City there is a man who will give you a Rainbow Wing. Take this Rainbow Wing and head to the same place as Ho-oh is in Gold and you will fight a level 70 Ho-oh.
Lapras
Only 1 Lapras
Lapras is another fun Pokémon to find. On the lower most level of Union Cave you should be able to find Lapras on Fridays.
Shiny Pokémon
Red Gyarados You remember the Gold...err... Red Gyarados in the lake north of Mahogany (Choju) Town, right? Well that's not the only Pokémon that is colored differently. Throughout the game, through all wild grass, there is always a very very very slight chance you'll run into a shiny Pokémon. They have beefed up stats because they have higher DV values than the normal "regular" colored ones.
To make sure you have a special colored Pokémon look at its stats and if it has 3 pluses by it's gender, then that means it's a shiny one. Also, when used in battle it will sparkle and shine when you bring it out.
Every Pokémon has a special color, even the ones that you can only catch once (though it is VERY rare for them to be shiny when you run into them), so always be on the lookout where ever you go since one could pop up at any moment.
Rhyhorn I found in Victory Road
"Free Pokémon"
Togepi
After defeating the first Gym Leader go into Violet's PokéCenter. Talk to the Scientist at the counter and he will give you Togepi.
Tyrogue - (#236)
Tyrogue is pretty well hidden in Mt. Mortar which is between Ecruteak (Enjyu) City and Mahogany City. And remember, you must only bring 5 Pokémon with you or you won't be able to take Tyrogue with you. You will need Pokémon with Flash, Surf, Waterfall, and Strength to reach Tyrogue.
Tyrogue can evolve into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop depending on his stats. If Tyrogue's Attack is higher than its Defense it will evolve into Hitmonlee. Defense higher than Attack - Hitmonchan. If its Attack and Defense are the same it will evolve into Hitmontop.
Surf passed the first mountain entrance east of Ecruteak (Enjyu) City and enter this middle one.
Surf into the water right at the entrance and head north up a waterfall.
Head through the door and you'll want to keep to the right on the other side. You'll need to surf across water and navigate through a semi-tricky maze to get near the top.
You'll find this ladder leading down at the top left corner of the maze.
This portion of the maze is pretty simple, when you enter head to the right and up and around until you get to this ladder.
Defeat this Karate guy and he'll give you Tyrogue.

Eevee - Espeon/Umbreon
House west of PokéCenter Stop by this house in Goldenrod (Kogane) City to get your own complimentary Eevee. If Bill's not home that means you haven't met him yet. Bill is located in the next city's PokéMart. Have a slot open for it though or you won't be able to get it.
To get Eevee to evolve into the two new evolutions, Espeon (Psychic) or Umbreon (Dark), Eevee must reach its "Happiness Quota". Not only that, but to get Espeon, Eevee must reach that quota during the day. And just the opposite for Umbreon, Eevee must reach the quota at night.
Talk to Bill to get Eevee
Shuckle (#213)
On Cianwood (Taban) City talk to one of the guys when you only have 5 Pokémon in your lineup and he will give you Shuckle.
Trade Pokémon
The following Pokémon you can get by trade, either from a person in the game, or trading with another Game Boy.
Aerodactyl
Route 14 Here's a trade you can find on Route 14 which is East of Vermilion City. This girl is looking to trade her Aerodactyl for a Chansey.
Chansey can be found in the same grassy area where the girl is standing but good luck running into one because they are very Scarce.
Trade for Chansey
Rhydon
Here's another trade, though I don't think it's as good as the Aerodactyl one.
Go to Blackthorn (Fusube) City and enter the house with the girl. She will trade you a Rhydon for a Dragonair.
You can catch wild Dragonair with the Super Rod in a small little pond south of Blackthorn (Fusube) City.
And with all trades the Pokémon they trade you will be the same level as the Pokémon you trade them.
Voltorb
Go to Olivine (Asagi) City and go a little west of the gym, you'll see two houses. Go to the one on the left and talk to the guy. If you give him a Krabby, he'll trade you a Voltorb.
Slowking (#199)
Equip Slowpoke with Kings Rock and then trade it to another Game Boy. It will evolve into Slowking.
The King's Rock is found in the Slowpoke Well outside Azalea (Hiwanda) Town. Bring a Pokémon with Surf and Strength to get to the guy who will give the Kings Rock.
Slowking!
Politoed (#186)
Equip Poliwhirl with the Kings Rock and then trade it to another Game Boy. It will evolve into Politoed.
Since there's only one Kings Rock in G/S you'll have to find them attached to some wild or traded Pokémon like Poliwag.
Politoed
Steelix (#208)
Equip Onix with the Metal Coat and then trade it to another Game Boy. It will evolve into Steelix.
Metal Coat is given to you by the Ship Captain of the SS Aqua after returning the granddaughter to her grandfather.
Steelix
Scizor (#212)
Equip Scyther with the Metal Coat and then trade it to another Game Boy. It will evolve into Scizor.
Since there's only one Metal Coat you'll have to find them attached to wild or traded Pokémon like Magnemite.
Scizor
Porygon 2 (#233)
Equip Porygon with the Up-grade item and trade it to another Game Boy. It will evolve into Porygon2.
You can get the Upgrade item from the guy blocking the door inside of Silph Co.
Kingdra (#230)
Equip Seadra with the Dragon's Scale and trade it to another Game Boy. It will evolve into Kingdra.
When sending Dratini through the Time Machine they will have Dragon's Scale attached to them. Or you can find one in Mt. Mortar.
Ok thats it, i hope you like my guide and please don't forget to VOTE!!!
