Wakaba Town
-----------
After going through the title screen, you start a new game. There you will
see Professor Oak explaining about Pokémon, using Mariru as an example.
Name your character whatever you want, but his real name is Hiroki.

You'll end up in your house, where you first walk down the stairs. After
doing so, you'll come across your mother. She gives you something, and then
you must set the time. Go to Professor Utsugi's house next, it's just a
little northwest of your house, and walk inside. Talk to the professor and
he'll allow you to choose one Poké Ball containg either Chicorita, Hinorashi,
or Waninoko.

keep going west until you get to...

Yoshino City
------------
Go to the Pokémon Center (labeled P.C. on the building) and heal your
Pokémon if needed. Don't bother trying to get Poké Balls because they aren't
being sold just yet. Head west then north up a path. You should come up to
see two people battling a little further into the path. Talk to one of the
guys and then head north till you reach a house. Go inside and it's Professor
Oak. Talk to him and he'll give you a Pokédex. Oak will then leave the house
and talk to the other guy to heal your Pokémon. After that, Professor Utsugi
calls you on the Poké Gear telling you to return to Wakaba Town.

Head back the way you came and exit Yoshino City, but first, someone
approaches. It's your rival, but he is named ??? for now. He'll battle you
with the Pokémon he chose. If you chose Chicorita, he has a Hinorashi. If
you chose Hinorashi, he has a Waninoko. If you chose Waninoko, he has a
Chicorita. Just beat him if you can to earn some money. I don't think it's
required to beat him, but just try. After winning/losing to your rival, he'll
leave and you should head back to Wakaba Town.

Wakaba Town
-----------
Go into Professor Utsugi's laboratory and then you'll talk with a police
officer. The police officer will say that a Pokémon was stolen from Utsugi's
laboratory. It was your rival who did it, so now you can finally name him.
Name him whatever you want, but Kamon is his name.

Leave Professor Utsugi's place and head back to Yoshino Town. There you can
buy some Poké Balls at last. (Now go back to the section titled 'Useful
Pokémon at this Point') Head up back to where the two people were fighting
and you'll see that they're gone. Go through the path and you should arrive
in Kikyou City.

Kikyou City
-----------
There is a GYM there in Kikyou City that uses Flying type Pokémon. Don't go
there just yet, head over north to a tower. This tower is called Bellsprout
Tower, and it's obviously named that because all the people inside mostly
use Bellsprouts. Defeat the Trainers as you make your way up to the top.
Your rival is there and he is seen leaving, aftering beating the main guy
of the tower. Beat the main guy of the tower as well to receive your reward,
the Flash HM.
Heal now and if you want to get a Geodude, head east to the cave and catch
one. If you don't want one, just go straight to the GYM. It is very, veryeasy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER INFO:
Hayato,
Hayato is a very easy GYM that will use Flying type Pokémon.

Pidgey: Very easy to beat. Just use whatever you want on him, except a Geodude.

Pidgeotto: Just like Pidgey, but a little bit harder.

once you defeat Hayato you will earn the wing badge

Wing Badge: Allows you to use Flash.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For beating Hayato, you will earn the Wing Badge. Leave the Kikyou GYM and
go to the Pokémon Center. Talk to a guy by the counter and he'll give you
Togepi, but still in its egg form. I've read that he hatchs after 2,000 steps.

Leave Kikyou City and head south. Go through the rock like tunnel that has a
few Trainers in it. When you exit, head west and you'll enter Hiwanda Town,
a place that Team Rocket has taken over.

Hiwanda Town
------------

You should notice that one Team Rocket member is guarding a well-like
structure. Ignore this for now, but remember where it is. Go to the northern
most house in the town and talk to a man. He should be inside with his
daughter. The man will soon run out of the house. Go back to the well-like
structure and you'll see that the Team Rocket member is gone. Go down the
well-like structure and beat the Rockets down there. Soon, you'll find a
bunch of Slowpokes, which were stolen by Team Rocket. Team Rocket is soon
defeated and you return them to the town.

After doing so, head over to the Hiwanda GYM, where you should encounter
a bunch of Trainers with Bug type Pokémon. Make your way up to the GYM
Leader, Tsukushi.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER INFO:
Tsukushi,
Tsukushi seems like a push-over at first because she has a Metapod and
Kakuna, but you must be aware of her Scyther.

Metapod: Do you really need strategy against this...?

Kakuna: Be ashamed if you lose against a Kakuna...

Scyther: If you have chosen Hinorashi as your starting Pokémon, you
should have no problem using its Fire attacks on Scyther. If you don't
have Hinorashi, use Geodude if you have it. Scyther has no Grass attacks,
only weak hits that will barely affect Geodude. If you don't have Geodude
either, then try anything you can.

Insect Badge: Level 30 Pokémon obey you
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Leave the GYM and heal your Pokémon at the Pokémon Center, because when you
head west to exit the town, you'll encounter your rival. Your rival will now
have a Zubat, Gastly, and the second stage of his starting Pokémon. He may
seem a bit hard for some of you. If he is, then I suggest you build up a few
levels and then fight him.

Defeat your rival and head the way you were going, west. You'll end up in
a dark forest area. Walk up north and to the east a little until you see
a bird. It's a Farfetch'd. Talk to it and it'll run away. Keep on following
it until it leads you to a police officer and its owner. The police officer
will give you the Cut HM when you talk to him. Equip Cut on Otachi or
Chicorita and cut your way through the bushes till you find a building to

the west.Kogane City
-----------

Possibly around this time, Togepi should be hatching. Head straight to the
GYM if you want, but I advise you, it is a bit harder than the last two.

If you don't wish to go to the GYM right away, you can do a few things.
First, get the Bicycle to travel faster. Just go into the Bike Shop located
east in the city and talk to the man behind the counter. You can also get
the Radio in the Radio Tower, located west. You can tell it's the Radio
Tower because of its large size. Talk to the woman at the east end of the
counter. To obtain the Radio first, you must answer he questions in the
correct response. The answers are Yes, Yes, No, Yes, and No, I believe.

To obtain an Eevee, go to the house west of the Pokémon Center in this
city. Go inside and you should see Bill with a few other people inside.
Talk to him and make sure you have an open slot in your line-up. After
answering 'Yes' to Bill, he will give you an Eevee. Now go to the GYM.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Akane
Akane is a GYM Leader that will use her powerful Normal type Pokémon.
Don't be caught off guard by her using Normal Pokémon, Mirutank is hard.

Clefairy: Very simple to beat, just hope that it doesn't hit you with a
powerful move, because it does have Metronome already.

Mirutank: Probably the hardest thing you've fought up to this point.
Mirutank uses a Tackle attack, which is very powerful. My suggestion is
that if you can't beat it, use Togepi to make its attack go down by using
its screaming move. Then, have a Pokémon use Leer to make its defense
lower. Finish Mirutank up by attacking head on with your most powerful
Pokémon.

Regular Badge: i don't know much about this badge
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Akane doesn't give you the Regular Badge at first, but talk to her after you
lost and she should give it to you. If she didn't give it to you when you've
talked to her, try exiting the GYM and going back in. Then talk to her. She
should give you the Badge now.

Next go to the house to the east of the GYM. Find the lady near the flowers
and she should give you some Squirtle Liquid. You'll need this for later.

Head north and defeat all the Trainers. If you want to do a Safari Zone
related thing, go into the building and talk to the guy standing by the door.
Sometimes, this guy is behind the counter, so that means he won't do a thing.
If the guy in that building never moves, go north through the park and east
into another building. There should be another guy standing by the door.
Same thing, if he's behind the counter, he won't do anything. It all depends
on what time it is. Anyway, when he finally stays by the door, talk to him.
He'll give you 20 Safari Balls and ask that you only bring one Pokémon.
Choose your Pokémon and head into the grass. Caterpie, Weedle, Venonat,
Scyther, and Pinsir are the few to name in the area. Scyther and Pinsir seem
to be the only ones worth getting, but Venonat may be something you want to
get, because it is partially Psychic.

Leave this place and head east. You should find some kind of tree blocking
your path. Press the 'A' Button and you'll shake it. Now use that Squirtle
Liquid the flower lady gave to you and it should pop out at you and attack.
This is Usocky, a Pokémon obviously. Catch Usocky if you want, then head
north into Enju City.

However you might want to pick up TM 8, which breaks cracked rocks. Talk to
a fat man just east of where Usocky was who should give it to you.

Enju City
---------
Heal up and head straight for the GYM. This GYM uses Ghost Pokémon, but the
first thing you'll notice is that the path to the GYM Leader is completely
black. It's a very simple invisible path, and you should reach the GYM
Leader, Matsuba in no time.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER INFO:
Matsuba,
Matsuba uses all the known Ghost type Pokémon. Use anything except
physical attacks on his Pokémon, because physical attacks go through the
Ghosts. I think this is one of the toughtest gym leaders you will have to fight.

Gastly: Easy to defeat, use something like Water Gun, Razor Leaf, or
Ember to knock him out.

Haunter: Only a little bit harder than Gastly, because it's Gastly's
evolved stage.

Gengar: Use very strong attacks on Gengar, because it is the strongest
Pokémon Matsuba has.
Haunter: It's not over yet, just use the same strategy you used on the
previous Haunter. You'll notice that the Ghost Pokémon will use a move that involves stabbing themselves. This move takes away half of their HP, but it also creates some kind of curse on you, so watch out for it.

Phantom Badge: Level 50 Pokémon obey you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Don't leave Enju City just yet. There are two more places to go.

First go to a large house in the city and you'll find that there are
dancers in there. Talk to all five of the dancers, each one should fight
you. They use the Eevee evolutions, so they're not hard to beat. After
beating them, talk to the man watching and he'll give you the Surf HM.

Next, go to the tower located in the northwest area of Enju City. Equip
TM 8 on one of your Pokémon and break the cracked rocks. Make your way up
the west side first, then head north. Go east and then south, falling down
in a hole. You'll arrive underground of the tower. Head north and you'll
see three Pokémon. Once you're close, the three will run away in different
directions. Those Pokémon were Raikou, Entei, and Suikun, the Legendary Dogs.

Now head west and then south so you'll reach Asagi City.

Asagi City
----------
As you enter the city, your rival exits the GYM, telling you it's empty.
Go to the Pokémon Center and heal, then go to a house in the most southwest
of the city. Talk to the man in there and he'll give you the Strength HM.

Equip Surf and Strength on your Pokémon now if you haven't, and Surf
southwest to Tanba City.

Tanba City
----------
Go to the Pokémon Center to heal if needed and go to the GYM. Inside this
GYM they use Fighting Pokémon, but they're really not that hard. You'll soon
be done with the Trainers and meet up with three boulders. Use Strength to
move the left boulder up, then use Strength again to move the right boulder
up. You'll be left with the center boulder untouched, so either move that to
the left or right and the path to Shijima will be opened.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER INFO:
Shijima,
Shijima is a strong Pokémon GYM Leader that uses Fighting type Pokémon.
Don't be afraid of his Primeape, but watch out for Poliwrath.

Primeape: Have a fast, strong Pokémon attack Primeape head on for a fast
win.

Poliwrath: If you have Mokoko or Denryuu already, use it because
ThunderShock will bang up Poliwrath. Also, if you have Chicorita, then it
should also be simple, just use Razor Leaf.

Shock Badge: Level 70 Pokémon obey you.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heal your Pokémon and go to a house south of the GYM. Inside you should
find a guy with sunglasses on. Talk to him and he'll give you medicine. Now
Surf back to Asagi City.

Asagi City
----------

Go east and you should find a large tower. Make your way to the top after
beating Trainers to find Mikan, the Asagi City GYM Leader, with her sick
Pokémon. Give the medicine to her and she'll thank you by going back to her
GYM. (If the guy with the sunglasses didn't give you the medicine before, go
back to him now. I'm not sure if you had to talk to Mikan first to get the
medicine, that's why.)

Now, the Asagi City GYM is inhabited, but only by one person, Mikan. (Two if
you're counting the guy that's always near entrance of the GYM.) Make your
way up to Mikan and talk to her. A battle for the Steel Badge will start.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER INFO:
Mikan,
Mikan is a GYM Leader that uses the new Type of Pokémon called the Steel
Type.

Magnemite: Magnemite may not be as simple as you think. It uses SonicBoom,
a cheap attack that lowers your HP by quite a bit. Try using a high Rock
or Ground Type Pokémon if you can.

Magnemite: Same strategy as the other Magnemite.

Hagane-Ru: Very simple to defeat, even if it does look threatening. Use
a few Water attacks on him and he should faint in no time.

Steel Badge: i don't know much about this badge
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Choju Town
----------
Go back to Enju City and head east through a building. Surf east a bit and
you should arrive in Choju Town. Someone's blocking the GYM, so there is
no way to enter it just yet. Head up north and you'll see a Gyarados in the
water. Surf to it and you'll fight it. Capture it if you want, since it's
a strange red color. After that, go back on land and go south a little till
you see someone looking at a sign. Talk to him and it's Lance. He'll talk
to you and then disappear.

Go back to Choju Town and enter the Shop. Lance will reveal it's a Team
Rocket base, and lead you down into their basement. You and Lance must now
stop Team Rocket's operations, so you're left on your own. Walk around this
place and pick up everything you see. Soon you'll encounter a researcher
by a computer. Defeat him and look at the computer. These things are telling
you passwords, which are required to open up those irritating gates like
in the previous version of the game. On the next floor, Lance will meet up
with you again and talk. Your rival should also meet up with you, but he
doesn't want a fight this time. Soon you'll reach the top and fight the
male Team Rocket boss. He's pretty easy. After defeating him, talk to the
bird in that room and you'll get the final password.

Go back down to the floor with the gate blocking you from entering the area
with machines inside. The two Team Rocket bosses, male and female, will
appear and Lance will help you fight them. This time, you're fighting the
female Team Rocket boss. She's also easy, so defeat her. After beating them,
they'll run away by disappearing. Go into the area with the machines now
and help Lance destroy the Electrodes supplying the base with electricity.
There are three of them, and they usually do SelfDestruct.

When that's all through, Lance will give you HM 6, titled Whirlpool. Go
back outside and you'll see that the man guarding the GYM door is not there.
Go inside now and get ready to fight Ice Trainers. There is a small puzzle
inside the GYM to get to its leader, Yanagi. It's another pretty simplepuzzle.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GYM LEADER INFO:
Yanagi,
Yanagi is an old man who is a GYM Leader. He uses average Ice Pokémon
which seem to be real pushovers.
