Can I trade U.S. Pokémon with the Japanese Pokémon?
No, the U.S. version and Japanese version of Pokémon are not compatible. Do not connect the Game Link Cable to a Game Boy system containing a different language version of Pokémon. Doing so may cause the loss of your saved game data.

What the heck is Pokémon?
Pokémon is the general name given to the many creatures found in the Pokémon universe. There are over 150 different types of Pokémon, and each type has a unique name (Pikachu, Charmander, etc.). These Pokémon are the stars of video games for Game Boy Color and Nintendo 64, trading card games and cartoons.

How do you play Pokémon (Red, Blue, or Yellow) for Game Boy Color?
There are three different Pokémon adventure games available for Game Boy and Game Boy Color: Pokémon Red, Pokémon Blue and Pokémon Yellow. The main goal in each of these games is to collect every possible type of Pokémon and become the world's greatest Pokémon trainer.

As you collect different types of Pokémon, you can use them to battle other Pokémon trainers. Using a Game Link cable, two players can have a Pokémon battle to see who has the most powerful Pokémon. The more you train your Pokémon by using them in battle, the more strong they become.

What is the difference between Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow?
The only difference between the Red and Blue versions is what Pokémon you can find in the game. The story, bosses, item locations and gameplay are identical. The Yellow version, however, has a slightly different storyline which follows the Pokémon cartoon show more closely.

To collect all 150 Pokémon, players must use the Game Link cable to trade Pokémon with a friend who has a different version of the game. For more information, check out our Games department.

Is Pokémon Pinball compatible with Pokémon Red, Blue or Yellow?
No. Pokémon Pinball is based on Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, but it is not compatible with these games. Pokémon Pinball challenges players to collect 150 Pokémon by playing pinball. See our Games department for more information on Pokémon Pinball.

What Pokémon games are available for Nintendo 64?
Pokémon Snap and Super Smash Bros. are both currently available for Nintendo 64.

Pokémon Snap challenges gamers to photograph wild Pokémon in their natural habitats on Pokémon Island.

Super Smash Bros. features many of Nintendo's biggest stars, including Pikachu and Jigglypuff. Although Super Smash Bros. is not dedicated exclusively to Pokémon, there is a lot of great Pokémon action in the game.

Pokémon Stadium, which features all 151 Pokémon, will be available in March 2000.

What is the Pokémon trading card game?

What is Pokémon rated?
All Pokémon games have earned an "E" (everyone) rating by the independent Entertainment Software Rating Board. Games rated "E" are suitable for persons age six or older.
