Pallet Town

Choose one of the three Pokémon in Prof. Oak's Lab.
Route 1: Pallet Town to Viridian City
Viridian City

Pick up Oak's Parcel from the clerk at the Poké Mart.
Route 1: Viridian City to Pallet Town.
Pallet Town

Deliver Oak's Parcel to Prof. Oak and receive a Pokédex in exchange.
Pick up a Town Map from your Rival's Sister.
Route 1: Pallet Town to Viridian City.
Route 2: Viridian City to Viridian Forest to Pewter City.
Pewter City

Defeat Brock at the Pewter City Gym.
Get the Boulder Badge.
Route 3: Pewter City to Mt. Moon.
Route 4: Mt. Moon to Cerulean City.
Cerulean City

Defeat Misty at the Cerulean City Gym.
Get the Cascade Badge.
Routes 24 and 25: Cerulean City to Bill's Sea Cottage.
Bill's Sea Cottage

Help Bill and get the S.S Ticket.
Routes 24 and 25: Bill's Sea Cottage to Cerulean City.
Route 5: Cerulean City to Vermillion City by Underground Path.
Route 6: To Vermillion City.
Vermillion City

Pick up HM01(Cut) from the Captain of the S.S. Anne.
Defeat Lt. Surge at the Vermillion City Gym.
Get the Thunder Badge.
Pick up the Bike Voucher from the Pokémon Fan Club.
Route 11: Diglett's Cave.
Route 2:The Other Side of the Trees

Pick up HM05(Flash).
Diglett's Cave to Route 11 to Vermillion City to Route 6 to the Underground Path and Route 5.
Cerulean City

Get the Bicycle with the Bike Voucher.
Route 9: Cerulean City to Rock Tunnel.
Route 10: Rock Tunnel to Lavender Town.
Underground Path: Lavender Town to Celadon City.
Celadon City

Defeat Erika at the Celadon City Gym.
Get the Rainbow Badge.
Get the Silph Scope from the Team Rocket Hideout beneath the Game Corner.
Buy a Soda Pop from the vending machines on the rooftop of the Celadon Dept. Store.
Underground Path: Cerulean City to Lavender Town.
Lavender Town

Rescue Dr. Fuji from the Pokémon Tower.
Get the Poké Flute
Route 8: Lavender Town to Saffron City

Give the thirsty guard a drink.
Saffron City

Rescue the President of Silph Co. and receive a Master Ball.
Defeat Sabrina at the Saffron City Gym.
Get the Marsh Badge.
Route 7: Saffron City to Celadon City

Celadon City to Route 16.
Route 16

Wake the Snolax with the Poké Flute!
Get HM02 from the house behind the bushes.
Routes 17 and 18: Cycling Road.
Route 8: Saffron City to Lavender Town

Lavender Town to Route 12.
Route 12

Wake the Snorlax with the Poké Flute!
Routes 13, 14, and 15: The Docks.
Fuchsia City

Defeat Koga at the Fuchsia City Gym.
Get the Soul Badge.
Pick up HM03(Surf)and the Gold Teeth in the Safari Zone.
Exchange the Gold Teeth for HM04(Strength)with the Game Warden.
Route 19: Fuchsia City to the Seafoam Islands.
Route 20: Seafoam Islands to Cinnabar Island.
Cinnabar Island

Find the Secret Key in the Pokémon House.
Defeat Blaine at the Cinnabar Island Gym.
Get the Volcano Badge.
Route 21: Cinnabar Island to Pallet Town.
Pallet Town and Route 1 to Viridian City.
Viridian City

Defeat Giovanni, leader of Team Rocket, at the Viridian City Gym.
Get the Earth Badge.
Route 22 and 23: Viridian City to Victory Road.
Victory Road to Indigo Plateau.
Indigo Plateau

Defeat the Elite Four, one right after another.
Defeat your Rival one last time.
Become the Master Pokémon Trainer.
