"Let's play!" This phrase is just one of many players can say to their Pokemon in the first-ever Nintendo game to incorporate voice-recognition technology. Nintendo of America Inc.'s Hey You, Pikachu! for N64 lets Pokemon fans make friends with Pikachu on an entirely new level by talking to and playing games with Pikachu. A microphone and voice-recognition system will be included with the game, available November 6th for a suggested retail price of $89.95.
One-on-one game play lets fans share activities and become closer friends with a completely interactive Pikachu. Players gain "friendship points" by keeping Pikachu happy, for example, with lots of compliments. But be careful what you say -- make Pikachu mad and it'll run away!
"With fresh and innovative technologies such as voice-recognition, Pokemon's popularity will expand even further," says Gail Tilden, Nintendo's vice president, product aquisition and development. " Hey You, Pickachu! is an irresistible game that's a guaranteed hit this holiday season, further building the franchise's thrill level for Poke-fans!"
Hey You Pikachu! teaches children the importance of friendship, cooperation and teamwork through activities, such as fishing, gathering recipe ingredients, and even searching for treasure on a beach.
Pikachu interacts with a variety of Pokemon to perform several tasks. It cooks up a stew with Bulbasaur, baby-sits a group of caterpie, and helps some lost Poliwhirl find their way out of the swamp. The game also features cameo appearances by some of the most popular Pokemon characters, including Charmander and Squirtle.
