Experience Points:
Pokemon evolve, because they have grown to a specific level. They grew, because they have gotten enough Experience Points (exp.). Your PokeMon can recieve exp. by defeating a TAMED or WILD PokeMon. PokeMon that takes place in battle will always recieve exp., no matter what.
Evolution:
So they evolve because they have gotten enough experience points to grow one more level So what happens? Well, your PokeMon will grow stronger, and you will be able to defeat more Pokemon. Take for example, CHARMANDER. He evolves at level 16 to CHARMELEON. At level 36, he evolves into the more powerful CHARIZARD. But with some PokeMon, such as, say MR. MIME, they never evolve no matter how much exp. they gather. This doesn't mean they are weak, it just means that it is in the final form of itself.
Sometimes, PokeMon needs special items to evolve. This also means that getting exp. is not the only way that let's PokeMon evolve. The first stone that you will encounter will be the MOON STONE. This stone evolves specific PokeMon only, and no matter whan experience level it is at, it will evolve instantaneously. Here are the stones, and the PokeMon that evolve by them:
MOON STONE:
JIGGLYPUFF-----WIGGLYTUFF
CLEFIARY -----CLEFABLE
NIDORINO -----NIDOKING
NIDORINA -----NIDOQUEEN
FIRE STONE:
VULPRIX -----NINETALES
GROWLITHE -----ARCANINE
EEVEE -----FLAREON
WATER STONE:
POLIWHIRL -----POLIWRATH
SHELLDER -----CLOYSTER
EEVEE -----VAPOREON
LEAF STONE:
GLOOM -----VILEPLUME
WEEPINBELL-----VITREEBEL
THUNDER STONE:
PIKACHU -----RAICHU
EEVEE -----JOLTEON
Some PokeMon evolve, but they won't no matter how much exp. they get, and they won't be affectted by any of the elemental stones. That means that they evolve by trading. This is by trading with a friend that has PokeMon, and when you send the Pokemon to the other person GB, it will evolve in their GB, so you better have him trade the PokeMon back to you if you want it. Here are the PokeMon that evolve by trading:
TRADING:
KADABRA -----ALAKAZAM
GRAVELER -----GOLEM
HAUNTER -----GENGAR
You can stop evolution by pressing "B". The reason why someone might want to stop evoution would be because they wanted a PokeMon to learn an ability quicker. Take for example, WARTORTLE AND BALSTOISE. They learn different attacks at different levels, don't they? That is why.
WARTORTLE LV. BLASTOISE
BITE 24
WITHDRAW 31
SKULLBASH 39
42 SKULLBASH
HYDRO PUMP 47
52 HYDRO PUMP
Abilities:
When PokeMon grow to a specific level, they also recive a chance to learn new attacks. PokeMon can only remember 4 attacks at once, so you can have to discard one of the PokeMon's attack before it can learn the brand-new one. If you don't like the attacks it has, still, you can use items called Technical Machines (TM's) or Hidden Machines (HM's) to teach PokeMon new attacks. But be careful, TM's can be erased for a new attack, but HM's can never be replaced with another attack. |
