Pokemon is the biggest monsters to hit Japan since Godzilla ran rampant through Tokyo. They are an absolute cultural phenomena. The Japanese have entire stores devoted to these little beasts. Given the ongoing Japanese Pokemon craze, and Pokemon's growing popularity in the United States, a Pokemon N64 game was inevitable. Enter Pokemon Stadium.
Pokemon Stadium, being developed for the N64 by Nintendo, features 40 Pocket Monsters, which players must train to fight in the "Pokemon Stadium." Battles between monsters are turned based, with the player inputting battle commands and then observing the battle action unfold.
The most innovative feature of Pokemon Stadium is its inclusion of the "64GB Pak." This little wonder plugs into an N64 controller's memory card slot, and allows players to plug in their Pokemon Game Boy Pak. With this device, players can use the Pokemon they have captured in their Game Boy adventures to fight in Pokemon Stadium. Pokemon Stadium also includes a feature that allows players to play the Game Boy Pak on their television set, using the N64 controller. |
