These are useful tips for better playing and dealing with pokemon.
NOTES:
.It's highly recommended that you read the game manual to familliarize yourself with the basics of gameplay.
.The pokemon you choose has a direct bearing on which one your Rival ends up with. If you choose Charmander, your Rival will choose Squirtle.(etc.)
.You don't have to raise all of your low level pokemon if you don't want to. But if you decide that you want a cartain pokemon in your main group of monsters, its better to grab one while its young than to wait until you can capture it at a higher level. Also, there are some pokemon that appear in later stages of the game where you won't have that luxury; there are also some pokemon that you won't want to use regardless what level you capture them at.
.Evolving a pokemon with an Elemental Stone is riske business. The majorits of creatures that evolve this way will either lose their ability to pick up learne skills or will learn different skills than those set for the first or second form. Because you can use the stones at any time,it's a good idea to wait till the pokemon is well trained and then upgrade the monster.
.Unlike pokemon who evolve through use of Elemental Stones, the four pokemon brought around by trading aren't penalized when it comes to learning new skills. In fact, they reatain the same learning rate as their second-form counterparts.
.Once you've gotten your Town Map from your Rival's sister, you can use it to get clues as where to go next. Pushing up on the D-pad will move the cursor to the next town or route that you should take and,for the most part, will describe the path you meet the Elite Four from the Pokemon League.
.Whenever you go out capturing pokemon, your six slots are filled up firsr. Then, any extra pokemon are teleported into storage boxes on your Computer account. Pokemon can be saves this way until the box you've currently selected becomes full. When you know you're going to be entering an area with a lot of new pokemon, like the Safari Zone,it's a good idea to stop by a Pokemon Center and exchange for an empty box.
.Before you go up against any type of Trainer or Gym Leader, you'll want to make sure you've spent some time fighting random battles and capturing Wild Pokemon. A good rule of thumb is to make sure that you have as mant pokemon ready to fight as the Trainer does and that they are all at least at the same level of experiance if not higher! This may be overkill, but it will prevent you from fainting most of the time.
.There are five Hidden Machines in the world of pokemon that you must find and use if you want to complete your journey. These skill machines differ from Technical Machines in that they are reusable and that the skills they contain can be used in battle or while you're traveling on the Field Map. One warning though-once a pokemon uses a Hidden Machine,it can never unlearn the skill it contains.
.Consider the Junior Trainers in each Gym a warm-up for the big battle with the leader. The pokemon they use are similar types and levels to what the big boss will use against you. Blowing away through the Junior Trainers is usually a good sign that you're ready to go up against the Leader.
.Before going into Mt.Moon,be sure to search the long grass for a Jigglypuff. These cute balls of fluff and big eyes are extremely rare and can't be found in the wild anywhere else! If you're into magical and mysterious pokemon, make this a part of your collection without fail. |
