Hi. Once again, I tell you wierd and wacky facts about Pokemon. This page tells you how pokemon got their names. I may skip past some pokemon sometimes, but I'll update this site until I get all of them. If you know any I don't have, e-mail it to me. Also, this was yet another idea I got from Shadow9277, and Bulbasaur-Blastoise was given to me by her. Thanks!

Bulbasaur-It has a BULB on its back, and SAUR is latin for lizard.
Ivysaur-IVY is a type of plant, and SAUR is latin for lizard.
Venusaur- VENUS is a type of flower, and SAUR is latin for lizard.

Charmander-CHAR is to burn, and MANDER comes from salaMANDER.
Charmeleon-CHAR is to burn, and MELEON comes from chaMELEON.
Charizard-CHAR is to burn, and IZARD comes from lIZARD.

Squirtle- Combination of SQUIRT and turtLE.
Wartortle- Combination of WAR, TOR which is the japanese turtle god, and turTLE.
Blastoise- Combination of BLAST and torTOISE.

Caterpie- Comes from CATERPIllar.
Metapod-
Butterfree- Comes from BUTTERFly.

Weedle-
Kakuna- It is in a cocoon, pronounced KAKUN.
Beedrill- It is a BEE, and it's hands are DRILLs.

Pidgey- Comes from the bird PIGEon.
Pidgeotto-
Pidgeot-

Rattata- Combination of RAT and
Raticate- Like eRATICATE.

Spearow- Comes from the bird SPARROW.
Fearow- Comes from the bird SPARROW.

Ekans- Backwards, it reads SNAKE.
Arbok- Backwards, it reads KOBRA, like cobra.

Onix- ONIX is a type of hard rock.
