Well, another Pokémon movie down. I must say, I liked this one better than the first. The movie was faster paced than the first one. Also ,in the first movie, the moral was really in your face. In this one, it was more subtle. I got my Ancient Mew card, but as I write this I'm trying to think of how to get my hands on the other three promos... At any rate, here are my opinions on the two movies: "Pikachu's Rescue Adventure" and "The Power of One."

In my opinion, the short was a bit disappointing. I was expecting a bit more. However, I'm glad there wasn't any freaky transitions this time. We got to see a few more new Pokémon: Elekid, Bellossum, Hoot-Hoot, and Ledyba. I liked seeing that Snorlax doing all that stuff. If it wasn't for it, Togepi and those Exeggcute would've been lost. I wonder what exactly Meowth was doing in the woods all alone, but whatever. There was an error in this short, too. The Poliwhirl kept saying "Poliwrath"! It was good to see the Pokémon working together, just like last time. I'm don't really understand how the Pokémon got back, though.

Now for the main attraction. It was significantly better than "Mewtwo Strikes Back" and it was chock full of allusions to the fact that Ash and Misty like each other. Also, we found out Mrs. Ketchum's, Professor Oak's, and Professor Ivy's first names! I'm not 100% sure, but I think they were Samuel Oak, Deliah Ketchum, and Felina Ivy. I was a little surprised both Slowking and Lugia can talk, as I had made sure not to read about it until I saw it. This is the second time that Ash has saved the world. They movie had just enough comic relief to make it funny, but not corny. I hear that the movie is different from the one in Japan, but so was the first one. I really liked the ending, too. Another thing that made it better than the first movie was the music. They chose much better songs that fit what was happening. I really liked "Polkamon" by "Wierd Al" Yankovic. The soundtrack as a whole is better, since all of them but one make direct references to Pokémon whereas the first one only had three or four. My rating of "Pokémon the Movie: 2000": four stars.
