Rival Battle #1 Cherry Grove City:The first battle against your rival is very easy. He will pick the pokemon that is super effective against yours. All you need to do is raise your pokemon to at least level 7 and then use their beginning move and you can defeat him easily.

Rival Battle #2 Azalea Town Gate:Gastly L12, Zubat L14, Beginning Pokemon evolved to 2nd evolution L16. To beat gastly all you probably need is your starting pokemons best attack that is not normal type. For Zubat you need a mareep or flaaffy that knows thundershock and he's gone. For the last pokemon If it is crononaw then use flaaffy, bayleef a fire type unown, quilava use a geodude.

Rival Battle #3 Burned Tower:Haunter L20, Magnemite L18, Zubat L20, 2nd Evolution of starting pokemon Use the same tactic as second battle but use ground or fire against his magnemite

Rival Battle #4 Victory Road: Sneasel L34, Golbat L36, Magneton L34, Haunter L35, Kadabra L35, Beginning pokemon third evolution. Use the same tactics as on the pokemon before but make sure those pokemon are strong. For Sneasel use ??(many types will work)and for Kadabra use a pokemon who knows bite or fury cutter.

Rival Battle #5 Mt Moon: Sneasel L41 Golbat L42 Magneton L41 Gengar L43 Alakazam L43 Third evolution of beginning pokemon L45. All of them are the same as above but higher and evolved make your other pokemon from before HIGH from the levels 40-45.
