Here are some tips on beating ALL of the gym leaders in gold and silver (written by the webmaster so DO NOT steal)

1. The first gym leader Falkner found at Violet City is very easy to beat. All you need is your starting pokemon at least at level 10 and you can win very easily with 3 or 4 hits each.(if you chose chikorita raise him/her to level 16 and let them evolve into bayleef. When you win you will get the Zephyr Badge which rasie the attack of your pokemon and you can now use flash outside of battle. You also get TM31(mud-slap) Lowers accuracy and hurts the pokemon.

2.Bugsy is found at Azalea town. Bugsy is fairly easy but harder than Falkner. If you chose Cyndaquil you will beat him in no time and if you didn't raise a pidgey to at least level 15(he/her evolves at 18) You get the Hive Badge which lets pokemon up to L30 obey you and you may now use cut out of battle. You also get TM49(fury cutter) Which is bug type and after every hit the poiwer raises but if you miss it decreases.

3.Whitney is at the Golden Rod City Gym. Her and the gym members use cute normal type pokemon. If you have a fighting pokemon you can wiz through this gym easily. If you don't have fighting you can use a rock type and the normnal moves will be not very effective. Whitney has a L18 Clefairy and L20 Miltank. Once you beat Whitney she will start crying and won't gie you the badge and then try and leave and the gym member will stop you and then you can get the plain badge that boosts your pokemons speed and allows you to use strength outside of battle. You also get TM45(attract)it makes opponent's pokemon of the opposite gender fall in love with your pokemon and pokemon in love fail to attack 50% of the time.

4.Ecruteak Dance Theater mini gym: All the Kimono girls have an evolution of eevee. A fire type pokemon can beat most of them pretty easily and an electric pokemon can beat Vaporeon. 4.Morty is a harder type pokemon. Morty loves to put your pokemon to sleep and eat their dreams. Stock up on plenty of awakenings and get a ground and psychic type pokemon. If you have a unown that uses hidden power and it psychic a level 20 unown will beat Morty is 1 or 2 hits for each pokemon. Also try and find pokemon who don't fall asleep that easy. When you beat Morty you will get the Fog Badge which allows L50 pokemon obey you. You can also you durf outside of battle. TM30(shadow ball) Combines a normal attack with a 20% of lowering the opponents SP defense.

5. Jasmine is an easy leader to beat as long as you have a high leveled fire type. A Quilava or Typhlosion at about L33 you can beat her easily with 1 flame wheel. Once you beat her you get the Mineral badge that raise your pokemon defense of all your pokemon. You can also get TM23(iron tail) Offers a strong attack that has a 30% chance of lowering the opponents defense by 1 point.

6.To get to Chuck of Cianwood City Gym you will ned HM04(stength) to get past the boulders. You can get strength from beating the Kimino girls and tlaking to the guy. Once you get to chuck you should use a psychic pokemon on Primeape maybe an unwown if you used one for Morty. For his Poliwrath use an electric type and kill him fast if Poliwrath uses mind reader get ready for a powerful Dynmaic Punch. Once you beat Chuck you will get the Storm Badge which allows pokemon up to L70 obey you and you can now use fly outside of battle.(exit the gym and talk to the lady after you beat Chuck to get fly) You also recievce TM01(dynamic punch) which has a accuracy rating of 50% but is powerful and ALWAYS confuses the pokemon. (good for pokemon who can learn moves that make your next hit always hit the opponent.)

7.Gettin to Pryce in Mahogany town is a bit harder, you will have to have finished off TR and then you can enter the gym but then you must slip and slide on the ice to get to him which can be hard while avoiding trainers. You should use an electric pokemon about level 30 and you can wipe out his seel and dewgong. Then use fighting or fire on his piloswine. Once you beat Pryce you will recieve the Glacier Badge which increases your pokemons special stats. You can also use HM06(whirlpool) outside of battle. You will recieve TM16 (icy wind) which hurts the opponent and lowers the opponents speed by 1 point

8.Clair is the last and hardest gym leader in Johto. Catch a JYNX in the ice path and level it up to about level 35. You should have no problem with Clair if you have ice punch and powder snow and lovely kiss. She should be pretty easy then and after you beat her you will need to surf up behind the gym and enter the dragons den you will need to surf to the left while inside and then go all the way around the bottom then to the right. You will find a pokeball it is a dragon fang. Once you get to the dragon fang Clair comes floating down and gives you the badge which allows all pokemon to obey you and lets you use waterfall out of battle. You'll also get TM24(dragonbreath) which attacks the pokemon and has a 30% chance of paralyzing the pokemon.
