One could say that the members of Team Rocket (TR) are the antithesis to Ash and Gary in that they're the enemy. TR cuts corners and constantly tries to cheat its way to the top. Though each member knows a great deal about Pokémon species, Jessie, James and Meowth simply don't have the desire or the dedication required to become Pokémon Masters-in-Training. But this doesn't mean they don't have plans of their own. Their primary goal is to please their leader, Giovanni, also referred to as "The Boss" by capturing Pikachu, who they feel is vitally important because of its rarity. Of course, they haven't been able to capture Pikachu. In fact, they have yet to successfully execute any of their plans!

Team Rocket has three principal members: Jessie, James and Meowth. There is a second Team with members Butch and Cassidy, but we don't know very much about them. How did Jessie, James and Meowth come together? Jessie was born into a poor family and spent most of her childhood wishing for things she couldn't have. When she entered her early teens, she decided to join a bike chain gang near Sunnytown, and was nicknamed 'Chainer Jess.' She eventually met James, who was also in the gang.
James was born into a wealthy family, and decided to run away after his parents tried to arrange a marriage between him and a local debutante named Jessiebell. He soon met Jessie and together they decided they wanted to apply to the prestigious Pokémon Technical School. Not only were they rejected, but they eventually learned their entrance exam scores were the lowest in the school's history! Feeling down and out, they joined Team Rocket.

Their boss Giovanni paired them with Meowth, his former top-cat. Meowth was replaced by a Persian and resents the substitution so much that he refuses to evolve. Meowth hopes to become the favorite cat again by capturing Pikachu.

The golden charm on Meowth's head gives him intelligence.Perhaps this is why Meowth is the brains behind most of the schemes. Also, he is only one of two Pokémon that can speak a language other than its Pokémon name.

James has a sensitive side: he often wears dresses, and has secret pockets in his pants for hiding roses. Brock and James have something in common: both go weak at the knees when a pretty girl is nearby!

Jessie's natural hair color is fuchsia, and she loves its length and natural wave. Obsessed with looking good, she loves to shop and favors brands by top designers. She's also very bossy and constantly ridicules James' ideas!
