A LITTLE RED NIGHTSHIRT
You have a little red nightshirt
that you wear most every night.
It's pretty short, and it's awful cute,
and it hovers at your mid thigh.
You snuggle up really close to me,
and gaze into my eyes.
I see a perfect love;
one that will never die.
As I kiss your sweet, soft lips
and hold you...oh so tight,
I feel your heartbeat quiet
as you drift off into the night
We sleep right through the darkened night
all cuddled up as one.
As I awake in the morning light,
I see you sleeping in the sun.
You are a heaven-sent angel.
You look so fine to me
without that little red nightshirt
that rested above your knees.

WOULD YOU
If I caress the strings of your heart,
would you orchestrate beautiful music in part?
Would you perform a symphony of love
that would inspire the angels up above?
Would you hold me close and tight
all through the darkest, coldest night?
Would your pounding heart increase its beat
as I gently massage your sensuous feet?
Would you look at me always bursting with love
streaming forth as it radiates from above?
Would you swim upstream beside me
through life's vicious currents -- and not flee?
Would you kiss and hug me throughout the night,
and just boldly love me with all your sweet might?
Would you always stand entrenched beside me,
no matter what terrible troubles in life there may be?
Would you forever remember that I am just a man,
but I'll love you truly, Baby, in every way that I can?
And...would you always please just realize
you are the only love for these two eyes?

TAKE MY HAND
Take my hand, and I'll
walk with you;
guide you through;
be with you;
always be true.
Take my hand, and I'll
always care;
always be there;
be here or anywhere;
never forswear.
Take my hand, and I'll
forever love you;
always be true;
never make you blue;
cry if you do.
Take my hand, and I'll
hold you so tight;
cuddle all night;
kiss you so right;
protect you with all of my might.
Take my hand, and I'll
be sure you're never scared;
never make you despaired;
not keep you ensnared;
always be prepared...
to just love you, Baby,
with every sinew and fiber of my being.

A LOVE THAT BURNED AND DIED
I had allowed myself to dream;
dream that it could be true with you;
permit myself to think
that your love for me was true.
I lived in that dream unawares,
and danced like a puppet on a string.
All I could ever hear
was your sweet voice as it did sing.
It sang a song of love
as wondrous as a symphony
performed by the angels up above
just for you and me.
As my heart wandered
through the clouds,
lost in total bliss;
I never once did think
our love would go amiss.
Then on that fatal day
when you said good-bye,
I awakened from my dream
to a love that burned and died.

YOU SAY THAT YOU LOVE ME
You say that you love me,
but Baby, it isn't so.
You took your sweet love,
and away you did go.
True love weathers
the heavy storms of life,
and makes two lovers
husband and wife.
The two come together
and function as one,
and their sweet, sweet love
can never be undone.
Their love is as strong
as a mighty oak tree,
but Baby, you took
your sweet love from me.
I guess you do love me,
but your love isn't strong.
It's self-serving love,
and Baby, that's so wrong
not to love with a fire
that burns madly in your heart,
and produces a love
that can never be apart.

NO STRINGS LEFT TO PLAY
The grand orchestra is all silent now,
and the old ballroom's floor is cold.
Dust is settling on most spots,
and soon will turn to mold.
There is no more laughter now;
eerie silence is the norm
that reigns over this once gala place,
where true love raged like a storm.
There was much laughter and happiness then;
musical voices harmonized in song
singing of our love so true
that would endure forever long.
We would be the special ones
and love to the end of time.
We would never leave each other,
and life would be so fine.
But the ballroom of my heart
is all dusty, moldy, and gray.
The orchestra residing within it
has no more strings to play.

THE FEATHER'S TOUCH
Falling gracefully through an azure sky,
floating softly on the wind-blown currents,
having no sense of urgency or of time,
weighted by no cares or predicaments.
As if frozen in endless times gone by,
continuously repeating its performance
for new generations of seekers,
who, as I, long for its remembrance.
I watched hopefully as it appeared
to direct itself towards me,
guided by some mysterious force,
with which I could not disagree.
I offered it two outstretched hands,
and it yielded itself shyly to me;
landing so lightly and delicately
with no thought of attempting to flee.
As I observed its infinite beauty,
my thoughts were also of you.
As this feather was mysteriously sent to me,
I believe you also were too.

THE SACRED PLEDGE OF LOVE
When a pledge of love is given,
it becomes a bond...a sacred trust;
not something to be broken,
like the smashing of a cold, ceramic bust.
The pledge binds the two together;
two lovers merge as one;
their hearts and souls united;
never to be undone.
'What God has joined together,
let no man put asunder.'
These words are powerful indeed,
but sometimes I have to wonder.
Does the pledge of love
mean anything to anyone today?
Or is it freely given,
and tomorrow taken away?
Does anyone really care
about the meaning of their words,
as they pledge their love to one another,
only to break that pledge undeterred?

MY EMPTY CUP
When I tenderly take you into my arms
and cuddle you throughout the cold nite,
will your body be eager and warm?
Will you hug me with all of your might?
Will you snuggle up to me really close
with your little heart pounding so fast?
Will you lay your beautiful head
gently upon my furry chest?
Do you think that you'll be afraid
while I hold you tight and close?
Or will you truly understand
that I sincerely love you the most
of any woman I have ever met
throughout all of my lonely years?
As I fruitlessly searched and wandered,
I shed so many desperate tears
Until finally,
I realized no woman exists
who wants more...than anything else
to be loved, cuddled, and kissed.
Then one glowing, sunny day
after I'd long since given up,
you waltzed princess-like into my life
and filled my empty cup.

OUR MOM
There is a beautiful lady so great,
so wonderful, and so sweet.
She loves us with all of her might,
nearly knocks us off of our feet.
She has a smile that brightens the sky
of an otherwise darkened, bleak world.
Her voice is like sweet, soft music,
a concert that forever unfurls.
Her presence is like that of an angel
dispatched from above by our God
A beautiful, caring angel, who
attracts wayward kids like a lightning rod
All of us kids...we just love her,
and need her serenity...her calm.
That beautiful, precious angel,
Of course...she is our Mom
Dedicated to Mom,
who has so much love in her heart
that she is everyone's Mom, and is
constantly taking in another wayward kid.
We love you so!
