My Picture

TEARS OF A CHILD

A star shimmers in the east
Radiating a light of joy
As wise men venture to hope
For peace to reign

An Angel in resplendent white
Casts rays of exultation
Over yielding shepherds
Their fears Pacified
By reverence and awe

Loving couple haul tired limbs
Beautiful woman, undefiled
Weary with child
In quest for refuge
For the Son of God

And the innkeeper mourns
As pointing finger
Guides despairing eyes
To a stable
Chilled, dark, silent

And a mother to be
Is cradled in soft hay….
As the silence is breached
By the cry of a child…
A King to the world
Is born

And hosts of angels sing
As wise men and shepherds
Render to Him their hearts
And a baby sheds His tears
For brothers and sisters
Who see him not

And as a man,
The son of God
granted to us, eternity
and his tears fell
Like gentle rains
To cleanse mankind

But beyond the grave
I fear the tears of a child
Are still falling

For me….

VOYAGE

I stand and gaze at God's mighty seas

As my heart contemplates

A journey of love

And seeking it's everlasting treasures

I set sail

Upon the breath

Of a butterfly's wing.

Gentle waves of passion caress my bow

And I lose myself

On the subtle sway of enchanted ocean

As the warm evening air

Whispers secret desires.

The glow of golden moon

Gives fire to tropical bay

Guiding me to peaceful shores

Where my anchor plunges

Into firm sands

Holding me steadfast

In exquisite union

And on tranquil shores

My vessel remains

Never to sail again.

LIFE OR DEATH

Do you hear the cry

Of dolphins and whales

Is it me

Do my tears fall alone?

And when it rains

Does the forest still drink

Of it's life?

Or do we write on the remnants

Of a forgotten existence

Then discard into hungry trash cans

Branch by branch

Piece by piece

We devour and fill

Until there is no more

Except man's lust and barren waste

and the earth will feed

Upon our forgotten existence

Life by life….

INNER SOUL

An artist performs a dream

devoted brush unhindered glides

massaging celestial vision

composing tranquil scene

Presenting to the masses

lavish masterpiece

on his canvass of tears

bearing an inner soul

but the world will never truly

understand

SUMMER NIGHTS

Summers eve portrays

her perfect creation

flaunting intimate rays

warming untold affections.

Stark hills plunge headlong

nourishing lake of peaceful waters

Gentle ripples clothed in sunlight

reflect a wave of passion

in gorgeous Romany eyes

Evening abandons a light

as night welcomes its casting breeze

encircling tranquil, peaceful solitude

Receptive fingers meet

embracing a thousand sensations

soothing, enticing, grateful spirits

as communion flows

in a fountain of tenderness

gleefully basking in our reservoir

of eternal pleasure

Oh night of treasures

your blackness conceals

gems unseen within

With your secrets to discover,

please welcome me back

to paradise.

LAST WALTZ

Come to me, enchanted Princess
let me lie with you in dreams
and bathe my soul in flawless longing
as I dissolve in your arms
on a warm midsummer's day

Oh to savour perfect elegance
embracing you in arms of affection
allowing tender feelings
to merge into a love
the Gods are unable to conceive

Can my soul utter a pledge
captured within my heart
fondly gazing into beautiful eyes
by chance to whisper endless words
I love you

Perhaps it is an illusion
how could I have risked a priceless gem
that I should cast our love to four winds
to watch the breeze embrace my last hope
as you experience comfort from another

My ears can no longer bear your silence
hearing heartfelt words I love you
now nothing but faint echoes of distant past,
how long can I reach out
and touch a dream?

You will never again want me
and yet, in my dreams and hopes
you will always love me
as I tenderly touch a soul
and make you smile

My sentence is deserved
a souvenir of my mistakes
yet it would mean so much
for one complimentary word
to show you still care

for a friend

SLEEP

A warm golden sun adorns my torso

in a symphony of light

as Chestnut trees extend their limbs

offering shade to rest.

A scene of magnificent splendour

feeds my soul

and oh to share ...

yet fertile mind conceives

my fantasy come true

as appearing unto me

an enchantress of divine elegance

in flowing dress of milky white

summoning my heart

and unveils to me streams of flowing passion

as we wrap our bodies in pastures green

and consume the aroma of daffodils

their yellow glow igniting our bodies

as we transcend the crest of enchanting love

and oh those eyes ...

bathing in joy

as I gently kiss a golden tear

yet the image of your radiant smile

still haunts me as I awake

to greet the frosty morn

and oh to sleep ...

CELESTIAL RICHES

You are a treasure
beyond belief
and oh I ache
for devoted riches
you freely offer me

Your love is a touch
of purest silk,
flowing in a wind of tenderness
delicately grazing my heart,
beating in time
with your affections

Beautiful emerald eyes
of heavenly sea green,
pure priceless gems
sparkling, glowing
bidding me to linger
deep within your soul

Mountains of gold,
oceans of diamonds
are but dust
scattered in desolate winds
for in your arms
I am truly rich.

FEAR

I bathe in her eyes
as eternal as the stars
illuminating my soul.
Yet a fear grips
a once lonely man
loved, then dismissed
to a life of emptiness

Hunger of soul reigns
and holding out trembling hands
I fill my begging bowl
with her heart,
yet I live in fear
that it should tumble
onto pavements of destruction,
splashing all hope
of happiness

Fear, take your revenge
within your cloak of pain
and cut my heart with
the swiftness of your knife
- then depart
and leave me to live
a new life

with the woman
I love

DESTINY

When I first felt
your eyes
I knew that we
had loved once before
in sweet pastures before time
and having endured
the raging tempest of fate
I seized upon your heart
as not to surrender our love

and oh I longed for you

Yet time did command
I should yield
to lesser winds
and allow a higher law
to compel me
to confine our love
for destined time
and no more I write to you
devoted words

and oh I missed you

I took upon us
a companion of pain
to visit
on lonely nights
not beginning to comprehend
the gulf of anguish
that bound my hands
as chains of guilt
compelled my heart
to cry

and oh I needed you.

But time is a master
of troubled souls
and saw fit
to deliver our hearts
to a freedom of love
that is only conceived
in fairytales and myths

and oh how I love you.

FOREVER

I beg to be counted among the crowds

Who behold your splendour

For angels conspired to paint you

- a masterpiece forever displayed

in the gallery of my heart

and yet amongst the hoards

of those more deserving

I find only me

a speck of dust in the mountain of humanity

and I raise my voice to the heavens in awe

as angels saw fit to bind together

a woman so perfect

and an undeserving man

for how can I define my love

you are all beauty God ever created

seized and bound together

in a bundle of perfection

and oh to grasp love's jagged thorn

feeling of it's pain

- and smile

safe in the knowledge

that I have given with certitude

my heart

as you travel through the depths of my being

to meet at a place where our hearts

can dwell

and when you search for my soul

I will take you there

where bodies grow old

but the love in our heart

will always burn

and when the Master beckons

I will look in your eyes

to wipe away a tear

with a final kiss…

as we begin our journey

to eternity.

LEGACY OF MAN

Mother earth perfect creation
so finely balanced
flowing streams
swelling seas
waters pure giver of
life.
Magnificent forests protecting all
in it's domain
Frosts freezing crystals
upon still waters
falling as glacial streams of ice
down mountain ranges
feeding
hungry oceans.
Storms reveal
veins of brilliance
rain soaking deserts in spring
awaking
new vitality.

African plains herald a new life
tiny hands of new born reach out
touching
a loving mother for the first time
her grateful tears
sealing
their love.

Man, self appointed ruler
over all things
Kings and Presidents
of misguided
dominance
bow to their God of printed matter.
Mountains of food
burned
in sacrifice to their
God
billows of smoke
satisfying it's value
forming clouds of
hypocrisy
as the sun scorches white the bones
of a mother and child
forgotten
in their hunger.

While millions are
sacrificed
in wars of economics
where are the tears
of the
educated
as their deity of lucre
is preserved.

Money and weapons
of no avail
as man crushes scales
of existence.

Though entrusted guardian
of mother earth
he willfully
pollutes
her body
takes her blood
spilt as black cloak of
death
upon beautiful oceans.

Tearing up forests
her heart
affording us oxygen
no more.

Man as cancer grows
will be cured
by man
in his own
self destruction

Oh Mother Earth
everlasting
We are so sorry

PRICELESS LANDSCAPE

I glance into a fire
of resplendent eyes,
leading me to a palace
immersed in dreams,
as I sweetly sip
pure ecstasy
of sacred love

You paint my memories
with gentle strokes of affection,
swelling my empty landscape
as we dance in rains
of chilling watercolour.
Your passion of red
drips gleefully across
my sharp blue eyes,
merging into Technicolor thoughts,
exhibiting sweet pictures
in my mind

yet when we part,
the spectre of emptiness
excavates his grave of nothingness
through my heart,
as rains wash away our colours
and transform our masterpiece
to a canvass of white

oh my landscape craves
your colours
Come to me
my beautiful artist,

paint my life again

BLAZING MOON

Oh Blazing moon

slayer of darkness

can you dare weave a magic

that I may witness

my endless love.

Let your light create graceful silhouette

eclipsing all nature can conceive

and cast her shadow of loveliness

across my existence,

exalting my heart

with a love that ignites

the stars.

Oh blazing moon

slayer of darkness,

grant me your light

for I must surely dwell in her shadow

than remain in this world

without her.

HAVE NO FEAR

Have no fear of what has gone on before

for if I should possess a rough diamond

I think not of it's history, origin

but make it beautiful, cut to perfection

for all to behold it's glow

and when people marvel at it's magnificence

there will be no thought of it's history, origin

but of it's eternal beauty

so have no fear for what has gone on before

it's what you become

that matters to me.

My Picture

A MISTAKE

Touching you
sharing oneness
with the elements
moving in time
to gentle rhythms
of October rains

Misty windows
obscure autumn trees
their beautiful colours
melting on a canvass
of cool
blue waters

It was so right
loving you

Autumn died
winter dawned
bringing frosts
withering, freezing
delicate feelings
and you were gone

Memories of you
haunt me
how I long
for Autumn afternoons
feeling you
close to me

Whatever your season
summer or spring
I want you to know
what we had
was so much more
than a mistake.

TAPESTRY

Oh capture my grateful heart

only you can exorcise

demons of doubt

as you patch together

my tapestry of life

proudly hanging upon your walls

of passion

displaying to the world

again my youth

rekindling my eyes

restoring a smile

You are as the angels

with a capacity for life

or death

that I should no longer repent

for my kindness

And when people look up

and marvel at this tapestry

they should not forget

the maestro's touch

she makes me….

LOVE'S RESSURECTION

Day bares final farewell

as magnificent evening sun

sheds a golden glow.

Twilight, in her gown of magnificence

seduces our dormant senses

exposing your naked splendour

and I am inevitably drawn

as craving hands aching for a touch

to reach out and consume

my loneliness.

My arms encompass soft skin

and feeling of warmth

I melt into a resurrection

of my love

for you

and gazing longingly into peaceful eyes

I quietly, gently, place you

on the foundation of our beings

as soft pillow cradles the flow.

Cleaving sheets absorb the sweat

as I grant to you my everlasting soul

crying out your name

released from depths of spirit

and my passion drips from you

as we lay together, safe in our haven.

I glimpse into flaming eyes

and wonder

as they immerse

into tranquil pools of peace

and we lie and dream of rainbows

where the sun and rain

dance in perfect union

bestowing upon us

everlasting treasures,

an eternal love

that will never be lost

PASSIONATE LIQUEUR

I could watch you

pouring yourself

as a pure white rum

with a subtle twist

of seduction

hint of beauty

touch of fire

What I would give

to drink you slowly

from a long tall glass

warming desires

on lonely cold evenings

WHY

Why do I live
your loneliness

I think of you
in solitary suite
sipping warm port
its scarlet glow
dripping from delicate
hungry lips
craving a gentle touch
reflecting intimate desire

why do I live
your passion

having not
touched your face
caressed your beauty
all I know
are your words
and my longing
to banish
your isolation
leaving you breathless
wanted

why do you live
in my minds eye

why?

IF ONLY

If only I knew
secret combinations
to liberate a heart
pulsating to my beat

if only I were with you
brushing soft lips
making love on a bed
of adoration

if only I could
remove your sheath of mystery
explore warm velvet skin
enveloping a pure desire

if only to discover
delightful treasures concealed within
watching your waters flow
on rivers of fantasy

if only you were here
if only

CARIBBEAN MOON

A cool crimson sun sets
as twilight undertakes
to paint, conceive
deep, deep blue skies
across the Caribbean

Nightfall welcomes the stars
in flawless, cloudless preparation
casting sombre hue on deserted beach
having now forsaken
robes of white

Black outlines of palm, shadowless, still
struggle to add
stark personality to a scene
they hide in shame
devoid of glory
all in darkness

Then a light, as a dagger thrusts
piercing the heart of gloom
banishing murky shade
casting romantic cloak
over cool, serene sands
its nakedness adorned
in gown of blue

The splendour of full moon
leaps on peaceful ocean
azure light performs mystical melodies
reflecting radiance
in resplendent, rich eyes
affording glimpses
of seductive angel

Pale skins of blue
unite a thousand years
of desire
as palms cast
longing shadows of approval
endorsing a passionate embrace

Adoring moon
kindles emotional fires
giving life to silent arena
creating love, bestowing passion
across the Caribbean

George Knox's book, "A Passion Liberated" was published and released early in July in the UK. It sold out completely in one month! We are fortunate that he has allowed me to publish a sampling of his poetry taken from his book. If you're interested in purchasing his book, please contact Alton McCloud, Amccl25089@aol.com who will be able to provide you with more information.

Update: George has recently completed a taped version of his book, "A Passion Liberated" in which he personally recites his poetry. If you're interested in obtaining either the taped or printed version of the book, please contact Alton McCloud, Amccl25089@aol.com who will be able to provide you with more information.

Now, I'll tell you a little secret. When George told me recently in an Instant Message that he was busy taping his book, I remarked that it was getting to be pretty expensive for me to publish some of his poetry on my website, since now I not only wanted to buy his book but also the tape. He offered to call me here in the U. S. and recite one for me personally. Of course, I thought he must be joking, but he was quite serious. I gave him my telephone number while we were still talking by IM. I kept waiting for my cordless phone which was right by my side to ring but he told me it was engaged. Of course, I didn't know that my telephone had any wedding plans but he told me that meant it was busy. I told him to hang up since no one else was home and the phone couldn't be "engaged". He did and called back. Even if you'd rather read poetry as I do, I suggest if you really want to hear it as only the author could recite it, that you also buy the tape. WOW! He has such a nice voice and his accent is fantastic and quite elegant. By comparison, the royal family doesn't speak the Queen's English half as beautifully at all! Shhhh, don't say I said that and by the way, he didn't pay me to say that. Hopefully, he won't see it. LOL
