Lifes Interlude
I'm not old but I'm old enough
to understand that I'm not young,
I'm like a leaf fallen in the rough
All around blossoms are newly sprung.
I'm not old yet my furrowed brow
Has known the rising of many moons,
I have taken the handles of the plow
As new furrows fall, a new crop boons.
I'm not old yet my growing's done
Much like the wind and a pillowy cloud.
The hours drift along swiftly one by one
The veil grows thin,Time loosens its shroud.
I am not old, only mellowed a bit
I'm now the fruit in the autumn time.
Too near the wintertime now to quit
A few more steps in the ladder to climb.
I am not old, It's my Interlude
Standing between tomorrow and the past,
Goals obtained, more to be persued
Now in the shadow of lifes overcast
