I've had many email questions about how to work a pocketstation. I will post on this page the pocketstation instructions as best as I could figure them out.

________________________________________(a)
_________________________________(b)_____________(c)______(e)
________________________________________(d)

a=up b=left c=right d=down e=start

Turn it on (first time): Pull out tab in back.

Program time, date, etc.: Push direction buttons to change time, and start button to finish.

Program games: Depends on the game. See playstation game that you are getting it from for directions.

Get into game: Use left and right buttons to find the game you wnt to play, and then press enter.

Exit a game: Hold start button until "Exit or continue" screen comes up. Use the down button to select exit, and then press enter.

Turn off: In time/date screen, let it sit for about 3 minutes and it will shut itself off.

Turn on (after first time): When Pocketstation is off, press enter.

"Chocobo World" instructions:

Upload Chocobo World: Get into FFVIII and put the Pocketstation into the slot that doesn't have your memory card. Get into your FFVIII game (you must have entered a Chocobo Forest) and go into the save screen. In the slot that has the Pocketstation in it, the "Chocobo World" slot is now available. Choose that, and after a second, the "Chocobo World" screen will appear. Choose "World"to move Chocobo World into the Pocketstation, and it will do so (it takes 7 memory spaces on the Pocketstation).

Start Chocobo World: See "Get into a game".

Move: press any direction button once to walk in that direction, and hold it to run.

Menu Screen: Press start button once to get in, press it again to get out. Use Direction buttons to move to different menu screens. Menu screens, from right to left: World map (changes every time you gain a level), status (states your weapon, level, life left, etc.), Items: Tells how many items you have of A , B, C, and D (see items found for rarity), Infrared status (allows you to send or recieve info from another pocketstation. Send lets you battle another person's chocobo when you line them up.), Event wait status: Lets you choose whether event wait is on or off (on means you must press start button when you get into an event to start it, off lets it start on its own), Mog status (if you have Mog): Lets you choose whether Mog stands by or sleeps (standby makes Mog awaken and deal one hit against your opponent when chocobo faints, and sleep keeps him from interfereing in your battle), Move screen: Allows you to choose how far off course Boco goes when you are not controlling him (move 1 is straight line, move 2 allows Boco to move one space in any direction to reach an Event, up to move 6 which allows Boco to move up to 5 spaces in any direction to reach an Event). After this, the cycle repeats.

Events: When the event screen appears on the world map, it means you have (a) gotten into a fight, (b) gotten an item, (c) have the chance to get a new weapon, or (d) a very rare event has happened, ex; found mog, met the female chocobo. Events are black dots on the world map menu screen.

Items found: Cactuar appears and gives you item A (extremely rare), B (very rare), C (rare), or D (very often). They are used as items when you transfer Chocobo back into the FFVIII game.

Weapons found: Moomba has found a weapon, and is giving you a choice to take it, or to keep your old one. You should take ones with higher numbers, but if there is more than one 0, i suggest that you keep your old one.

Battles: If there is an enemy on the left and you are on the right, then you are in a battle. On the bottom, there are four things you need to know about: The enemy's life left (the far left), the enefmy's time until it attacks (left), Your time until you attack (right), and your life left (far right). Alternating the right and left buttons speed up the time until you attack. If you win the batle, you will get a stone on a tic-tac-toe board. Getting three in a row makes you level up. If you lose a battle, you sleep until you recover or until you press the start button.

Special Event: If you find Mog, he gives you a stone and joins your group. This allows you to let him join your party and try to finish battles for you. If you find a female chocobo, its just a little fun to watch what chocobo does.
