Get the Mimic TM
Buy a Pokedoll in Celadon Mart, then FLY to Saffron and talk to the Copycat. She will give you the Mimic TM.
How to get two HMs in Fuchsia City
If you are stumped on where to get the "Surf" HM, Here's what you do. It's in Area 3 of the Safari Zone. You will have to get there fast as well. (I used a bike, I suggest you use it if you have it.) If you get into the secret hideaway in area 3, the man will give you the "Surf" HM. The gold teeth item is also in Area 3. Give the gold teeth to the owner of the Safari zone and he will give you the "Strength" HM. Use that to move the boulder and claim the item in the owners house.
Secret Coins
At the Game Corner there are secret coins lying around. You can get these coins by
walking around and pressing the A button.
Clone Pokémon
Works for all versions.
Set up a trade with the game link cable. Make sure one Game Boy has a Pokémon that will not matter if it is deleted. This would mean Magikarp, Ratatta, etc.
When the person with the good Pokémon, such as Mew or the Legendary Birds, screen says "Waiting...!" there will be a very small pause. The person with the good Pokémon should shut off his Game Boy instantly at this time. The other person may now turn off his Game Boy.
If you did the code correctly, when the game is turned back on, both people will have the good Pokémon.
Code Rating: 9/10
Although this is a very awesome code and always works, there may be a chance it will delete your game.
The 100+ Code
Works on Red/Blue only.
This is a SEVERE warning! Contacting Missingno. at all during your game will glitch it in many ways and possibly ruin the entire game. Use these codes at you own risk.
This code will give you over 99 of any item you choose that has a number next to it. Put this item as the sixth one in your inventory. Go to Viridian City and talk to the man there that shows you how to throw a pokeball. Say "NO" to his question.
After you are done talking to him, FLY down to Cinnabar Island. SURF up and down the right coast of the island. Eventually, you will come to Pokémon that are over L100, which was previously thought to be impossible. Catch these Pokémon if you wish. Eventually, you will come to the Pokémon named MISSINGNO. Defeat him and when you are back outside of the battle check your sixth item. It will be duplicated past 99.
Rare Candies, Master Balls, and Celadon City coin cases are all good items to use in this code.
Code Rating: 9/10
This is a very powerful code, but if used incorrectly will most definitely destroy your game!
Glitch City
Submitted by: Gargoyle
Works for RBY (Not while Playing on Stadium, though)
Go into the Safari Zone and say YES that you want to catch Pokémon. Walk around for a little bit, and then try to leave Safari Zone. When he asks you if you are leaving early, say NO. It will make you walk back into the Safari Zone. Leave again, and once more say NO. When you go back into the Safari Zone, save your game and then shut it off. Turn it back on and go out of the Safari Zone.
This is when the first glitch appears. Instead of asking you if you want to leave early, he asks you if you want to join the hunt. When he asks you this, make sure to say NO again. Walk out of the house and FLY to Cinnabar Island. SURF up and down the coast until there is the gong you usually hear in the Safari Zone, although it may take a while. The game then warps you back to the Safari Zone and the man asks if you had a good haul and so forth. Leave the building, and when you go outside you are in a strange "Glitch City."
It is very easy to get trapped in here, and the different glitches make it hard to move around. Some things to try are fishing, SURFing, and trying to find new paths. Just remember, nothing is what it seems. If you want to get out of the city, you must FLY out and save.
It really doesn't matter where you FLY to; instead of Cinnabar Island, try Cycling Road or any other city and see what the difference is when you enter the "Glitch City." Cinnabar Island was just posted here because it makes the most interesting glitches in my opinion.
But be Warned, this code could delete your game data.
Code Rating: 9/10
This is actually the first glitch code that I like.
Missingno. Code
Works for Red/Blue only.
This is a very interesting code. Dangerous, yet almost irresistible. Click HERE for all the details.
Code Rating: 8/10
Although this cheat can give you almost anything you want, the danger involved lowers it a notch.
Fight Pokémon Near Cinnabar
Works for Red/Blue versions.
Enter a cave with rare Pokémon, the Safari Zone, or fight a trainer. Exit this and FLY to Cinnabar Island. Surf up and down the right coast of the island and you should eventually encounter different Pokémon from where you just were.
Code Rating: 7/10
This is a very helpful code. When I used it in the Safari Zone in Red, I was able to catch rare Chanseys and Scythers.
Raise your Pokémon's Stats
Submitted by: Masamune and Tripred
Works for all versions.
Take one Pokémon out. After battling many Pokémon, heal your Pokémon at a Pokémon Center, then deposit it into the PC. Take it out again and its HP and stats will have risen.
This code works because every time you fight a Pokémon, you get a percentage of that Pokémon's stats added into a "pool." It accumulates no matter what Pokémon you fight, so if you want higher HP, fight many Chanseys. If you want higher speed, fight Pikachus. When you place a Pokémon that has been accumulating this "stat experience" into the PC, the experience is applied and your Pokémon's stats have risen.
Code Rating: 7/10
This code is well thought out and really helps your game. It deserves its high rating.
Color Code
Submitted by: BRASS MONKEY and Steven Billups
Works for Red/Blue only
You must use a Game Boy Color system for this code to work. When the words Game Boy Color flash across the screen when you first turn on the system, press the following buttons to change the colors of your game.
B and Right - This will turn all of the light colors dark and all of the dark colors light.
B and Left - This combo makes the colors go black and white, as if you were using an old Game Boy or Game Boy Pocket.
A and Right - This makes all of the colors have a green tinge, as if it is spring in the game or you are playing Pokémon Green.
B and Down - This makes all of the colors a light brown as if it were autumn in the game.
*When you set the colors to Autumn, if you enter Rock Tunnel all the characteristics of the cave that were previously hidden in the darkness will now be visible. -Ryan*
B and Up - This turns all of the colors into a dusty brown, darker than the autumn brown.
Down - Gives everything pastel colors.
Right - Turns every color into Christmas colors, red and green.
Left - Changes all of the colors to blue.
Up - This gives everything a chocolately color.
Code Rating: 7/10
This code adds great replay value even after you have beaten the game
Get Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle
Submitted by: MLPikachuLover99@aol.com
Works for Yellow only.
In order to get Bulbasaur, train Pikachu until he is super happy and jumps up and down when you speak to him. Then in Cerulean City, go to the house with Melanie in it and she will give you her bulbasaur.
To get Charmander, simply beat Nugget Bridge. Go north and there will be a ledge with a boy on it. He will give you Charmander as long as you promise to take care of it.
Finally, to get Squirtle, beat Lt. Surge. After obtaining the Thunder Badge from him, speak to Officer Jenny outside and she will give you Squirtle.
Code Rating: 6/10
This code helps you along in the Yellow version, plus you can clone with your friends in Red/Blue!
Truck Code
Works for RBY
There are three ways to do this code. The first is you may use a cheating device such as a Gameshark or a Game Genie. Skip the S.S. Anne entirely and use the cheating device to get a CUT HM. The codes can be found at the links on top of the page. Go through the game normally until you get SURF and you are able to use it. Go back to the S.S. Anne and walk past the man. When you are on the little walkway, turn to your right and SURF. You will immediately see the tiny pickup truck. There is no significant meaning at all to this truck.
The next two ways you don't need a cheating device. Get the CUT HM from the captain of the ship. Go out from that room and talk to a trainer you haven't fought yet. Purposely lose to them. You will faint and be transported off of the ship, but it will still remain there. Don't go back on it! Continue through the game until you get SURF. Once again go on the little bridge and SURF right. You will see the truck.
The final way is to skip the S.S. Anne entirely and have a friend trade you a Pokémon that knows the CUT technique. When you get SURF, go back and SURF to the right. It will still be there. It is just something cool to do in your spare time. You can see a picture of the truck HERE.
Code Rating: 6/10
It is impossible to get Mew in the RBY versions of the game except through a device or a Nintendo official! It is also impossible to move the truck at all!
The Invisible PC
Submitted by: Greg
Works for all versions.
Go to the people hotel in Celadon City. Go all the way to the center of the right wall. Go one step up and press A. You will log onto a PC just as if there were one there.
Code Rating: 5/10
This code is short but sweet. I don't know why, but I just seem to like it more than the other glitches!
Infinite HP
Submitted by: Machoman2k@hotmail.com
Works for Red/Blue only
First, do the Missingno. code (See Missingno. code) and catch a Pokémon over level 100. Feed him HP ups until it can't take any more, but don't heal the excess damage at all! Use Rare Candies on him until it grows over level 255.
It should be on level 0, but it will have a strange symbol in front of the number. If you go into battle and get hit you will receive heavy damage, but you will never faint. Don't try to use potions, because you will keep on healing forever. Also, don't heal at a Pokémon Center or it will go back to normal.
Code Rating: 5/10
Ho hum, yet another Missingno. code....
Enter Safari Zone Free
Submitted by: eeliasn@aol.com
Works for RBY
First, get less then $500, but not $0. Try to enter the Safari Zone. The man will say, "Would you like to join the hunt?" Say YES. He will say, "Oops! Not enough money! Oh well, pay me what you have. But, I can't give you all 30 Safari Balls."
Play the Safari Zone Game as usual. When you come back, try to enter the Safari Zone again, but this time you don't have any money. You should try to enter 3 times without paying. After the third time, he'll say,"Read my lips, NO! Get it? Boy you're persistent, aren't you? Oh well, I'll let you in for free. But just this once!" You enter the Safari Zone free, but with only one Safari Ball. You can do this as many times as you want!
Code Rating: 5/10
It's a good one if you are running low on cash!
Make Pikachu Super Happy
Submitted by: Tiff and MarmaBlueZ@aol.com
Works for Yellow only.
After beating a Gym Leader with Pikachu, walk 1-2 steps and talk to Pikachu. He will be super happy for a short while.
Another way to make Pikachu super happy is to heal him at a Pokémon Center. After he is healed, use potions and antidotes on him even though it says it does not affect him. Do this 10-15 times and Pikachu will have hearts over his head.
Code Rating: 4/10
These codes are great if you want to earn Melanie's Bulbasaur, especially the second part!
Make Pikachu Dance
Submitted by: osgood31@hotmail.com
Works for Yellow only.
To make Pikachu dance, jump over a ledge with Pikachu following you. When you hit the ground, don't move. Talk to Pikachu after about 3-5 seconds and he will be dancing.
Code Rating: 4/10
Once again, I know these aren't the greatest, but I just love that little Pikachu!
Pikachu With Bucket on his Head
Submitted by: Daniel
Works for Yellow only.
If you fish with Pikachu beside you in Yellow and then talk to him, he will have a bucket on his head.
Code Rating: 4/10
Although this isn't the greatest code, I'm giving this rating to all the different poses for Pikachu.
Battle Cheat
Submitted by: NeoSyrex
Works for all versions.
Try this code out with a friend, then use it in actual play if the chance ever comes up. Have your opponent use Substitute. Use Explosion or Self Destruct while it is in effect. You will not lose any HP, and your Pokémon will temporarily lose its graphic. In order to get your picture back, you must let your opponent hit you or you must switch your Pokémon. Unfortunately, you can't do the trick again until he uses Substitute again!
Code Rating: 4/10
Although this situation is unlikely to come up in a real battle, doing the code with a friend is fun!
Skip the Seafoam Islands
Works for all versions.
If you don't know how to get past the Seafoam Islands, FLY to Pallet Town. Surf in that body of water all the way down to Cinnabar Island. You will not fight the trainers you would in Seafoam, and you won't get Articuno, but you do save a lot of time, and you can always go back!
Code Rating: 4/10
I always like a trick that saves me time during my game!
Cut Grass
Submitted by: Stephe Brown
Works for RBY
Get a Pokémon that knows CUT and step in front of grass or walk into it. Use CUT and your Pokémon will hack away the grass leaving the bare ground.
Code Rating: 4/10
I know a lot of people probably already knew this, but I never did! COOL!
Battle Without Pokémon?
Submitted by: nsider2@hotmail.com
Works for Red/Blue
Connect a link cable between two Game Boys, but don't use the cable club until instructed. Have at least two Pokémon with you. Go outside and faint one of them. Deposit all your Pokémon into the boxes at the PokéCenter except the fainted one.
You will be able to walk 2-5 steps if you quickly press the D-pad before it says you are out of useable Pokémon and black out. Go up to the receptionist in the cable club and enter a battle with your friend! When you fight them, your Game Boy will instantly say you lost to your rival, whereas your opponent will see that you sent out Missingno.!
Code Rating: 4/10
I don't recommend using this code unless your rival doesn't mind the effects of Missingno.
Cool Ditto
Submitted by: James Jin and Spaz Scyther
Works for Red/Blue
Take a Ditto and go to the strip of grass near Nugget Bridge and the Unknown Dungeon. Fight a Pidgey and use Transform. You'll get Gust, Sand-Attack, and Quick Attack.
Using the SELECT button, switch Gust with Sand-attack. Defeat the Pidgey. Transform will be erased and will be replaced with a nameless move that has the type "Cooltrainer."
Now get a PP up and an item, such as Max Elixer, that restores PP. Use PP-Up on Ditto's new attack. The game will show a glitch that imply's the attack's PP went up. These won't be restored in a PokéCenter, so in order to use the attack you must use Max Elixer, Elixer, Ether, or Max Ether to restore the PP. Now it is possible to use Ditto's new attack. It hardly ever hits, but if it does it will show two flashes of light and then do damage.
Code Rating: 3/10
A glitch, but a good and long one at that.
Pokémon Without Embarrassing Nicknames
Submitted by: Eric Hansen
Works for Yellow only.
In order to catch a Farfetch'd that is not named Dux, go to routes 12 and 13. There should be some there.
In order to catch Lickitung that is not named Marc, go to the bottom floor of the Unknown Dungeon and you should find some.
Code Rating: 3/10
Although this is helpful information, it is not the most absolute need to know information.
Old Man on Roof
Submitted by: michaels@brads.net
Works for all versions.
Surf up and down the east coast of Cinnabar Island. Climb out of the water so that you are next to Gym's door. Now, if you walk to the right, you will see an old man standing on the room of the Gym.
Code Rating: 3/10
Ok, I am tired of all the glitch codes. Have fun with these, because there won't be many more!
Fish and Surf in Statues
Submitted by: MLPikachuLover@aol.com and Tony
Works for all versions.
When in Misty's Gym, stand in front of one of her statues. Take out any rod and cast it into the statue. It should work as if there were water in front of it.
Also, you can use SURF in her statues. Like before, stand in front of the statue. Use your Pokémon's SURF ability and you will take off into the statue as if it were water.
Code Rating: 3/10
I gave this glitch a slightly higher rating because it is a double code, but otherwise it would have been smaller.
Ride Cycling Road Without a Bicycle
Submitted by: Mewmaster76543@aol.com
Works for all versions.
Deposit your bicycle into a PC and head over to Cycling Road. Try to walk past the guard, but he will stop you. While he is talking to you, keep holding LEFT. When he finishes talking to you, your man should continue to walk onto Cycling Road. When you enter, you will be on a bicycle even though you do not have one taken out.
Code Rating: 3/10
Even though this is a glitch, it gets a slightly higher rating because it is fun to do.
House Peeking
Submitted by: Terry Phillips
Works for all versions.
This is a cool little thing to do. Go to Pallet town and walk up to that girl that talks about "raising her Pokémon so they will protect her later." Follow her around for a little bit. When she walks up to the entrance of your house, go directly behind her. If she does not go left or right, she will go straight into your doorway!
Code Rating: 3/10
This is a fun little code to do when you are bored. It would be better if you character told her to get out though!
Link Cable Fun
Created by: CodeMaster Mark
Works for RBY
This code can only be used if you have an older universal link cable where there are three heads connected to a single wire.
Connect all three heads to three different Game Boys with each Game Boy containing a version of Pokémon. All three go into battle as usual, and when you enter, everything is wrong immediately. Game Boy A is fighting Game Boy B, while B is fighting C! When a Pokémon dies, the next Pokémon is glitched, and the entire experience is always extremely slow. It gets confusing at times, so make sure to pay attention!
Code Rating: 3/10
Interesting, but you have to have three versions of Pokémon, three Game Boys, and a cable that has been discontinued!
Save your Pokémon
Submitted by: erick4@prodigy.net
Works for RBY
If you are thinking of restarting your game, do this little trick first. Put all of your important Pokémon into Stadium boxes on your Nintendo 64. After you restart your game, go back into Stadium and retrieve your Pokémon. That way, you can have two of all the important Pokémon, such as Mewtwo, Mew, and the Legendary Birds!
Code Rating: 3/10
Common sense could have told anyone this....
Get Diploma
Works for RBY
After catching all 150 Pokémon, go to Celadon City to the Celadon Mansion. Go to the third floor, which is the Game Freak development room. Talk to the man standing in the back of the room. He will give you a diploma congratulating you on your achievement. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY to get Mew from this man in the American version of the game. I repeat, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY to get Mew in the American versions of the game except through a cheating device or a Nintendo giveaway. In the Japanese version of the games, the guy would give you Mew, but here in the United States all you get is a very lame diploma!
Code Rating: 2/10
The only reason this code is getting higher than a 1 is because it takes a long time to do it!
