The gang find out that Vegita will be running out of fuel soon and sure enough, he arrives back on earth looking for Goku. While Vegita and Yamacha are argueing, they sense 2 amazing powers as does everyone else and they realise that it's Frieza. Frieza barely alive after the destruction of Namek was found by his father King Cold floating around the debry. He was then remade as a cyborg and on his way to earth he overtook Goku. Frieza sets out to find the others when a mysterious youth arrives. He easily desposes of Friezas men and then goes super saiyen. Frieza doesn't believe and he fires a blast ten times stronger than the one which blew up Namek. The youth disposes of it and kills frieza with one sword swipe. He then kills King Cold and tells the others that he's going to meet Goku.
They all follow him and soon begin to trust him. They comment on his similarities to Vegita and the youth seems to be interested in Bulma and Vegita. Trunks says the exact time and place of Gokus arrival and when Goku lands, he talks to him alone. When they begin to trust each other, the boy tells him the truth. His name is Trunks and he is from the future. His father is Vegita and his mother is Bulma. He came for 2 reasons. The first was to say that he is born in two years time and the second is that in 3 years, some androids will arrive and they will kill everyone (Vegita, Tien, Yamacha, Chowzu, Picollo and Kryllin) except for Gohan who survives but later they get him to. Their creater was Dr. Gero and they are amazingly strong. Goku wonders what happens to him and he finds out that he dies from a heart virus. Goku is annoyed but is then given a cure. Trunks returns to his time leaving Goku having to tell the others what happened.
The gang meet at the island where trunks said to go and they find Bulma holding a baby. Goku tells the truth so the baby is called Trunks. Nobody knows what the Androids look like but Yamacha spots one who easily disposes of him! The 2 androids decide who to fight and Goku eventually goes one on one with Android 19. Goku is winning but getting weaker. The heart condition is only just kicking in. Suddenly, Vegita saves his life becoming a super saiyen. He then finishes off 19. 20 flees and they find out that he's Dr. Gero. He goes to his base and activates 17 and 18. Trunks comes back through time and says that they were the wrong androids and when he sees them, he tells themwho they are, pointing at 17 and 18. Vegita challenges them but is beaten. He also finds out that the 2 killed their master Dr. Gero and activated android 16. The androids head to find Goku because there purpose is to kill him.News goes to Chi chi who moves Goku. Meanwhile, Bulma finds an identical space capsule to trunks.
Something is rwaking haveck in the city and absorbing people. Picollo seeing this flies up to Kamis lookout and convinces him to fuse making a super namek. He then goes down and finds the thing who is called cell. It is an even match but the thing suddenly flies off. At the lookout, Vegita trunks gohan and goku are met and they find a room where you can have 1 year of training in 1 day. Trunks and Vegita go first while Goku and Gohan wait. Picollo finds the androids but as he starts the fight, Cell arrives. He reveals that he was made by Dr. Gero from te cells of Garlic junior, Vegita, Frieza and Goku. However, he is imperfect and to become perfect, he must absorb Androids 17 and 18.
