| We pull our babies at about 2 weeks of age, to band them and start handfeeding. This makes for better pets, and gives Mom a break. The little Blue one is a Blue ringneck, the 2 with red eyes are Lutino ringnecks. The rest are Plumhead babies! |
| These are all in the parrakeet family. They wean out at about 6-8 weeks of age. They will grow to be about 16 in. in length. This family of babies are hatched with not a bit of fuzz or down on them. The Indian ringnecks are related to the PlumHeads. They all get their adult color between 2-3 years of age. That is when I call it blooming. The Male Plumheads get their beautiful brilliant heads, and notice all the other colors on the picture of the adult. The hen will have a gray like head. The Indian ringneck male will have his ring around his neck about the same age. The Hen will not develope the colored ring. We can have the babies DNA sexed early on and they will then have certificates of sex. This is a cost of about 25.00 per bird. |
