Start with Any Pokemon:

When you chose a pokemon and look at its stats, it should be the pokemon you want to start off with (e.g. Mew). Professor Oak will ask you if you want Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle insted of the pokemon want (in my example Prof. Oak will say Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle instead of mew), but disragaurd him and take the pokemon anyway. When you fight your rival for the first time, your pokemon will be the one you wanted (in our case Mew). But, when your pokemon pops out of the poke ball, immedeately put the switch on the top of your GameShark to the Norm. position. Then continue as usual.
