| Here are my reviews on movies that I have just recently seen on video. RATING SYSTEM:  = 5 stars, THE BEST! = 4 stars, EXCELLENT = 3 stars, VERY GOOD = 2 stars, GOOD = 1 star, OK (IF THERES NOTHING BETTER) = 0 stars, HORRIBLE! THE ROCKStars: Sean Connery, Nicolas Cage, Ed Harris One of the best movies that I've ever seen, it made my top ten list. The action was astounding, and it was very dramatic. The Story: Ed Harris plays General Hummel, a man who has seen 5 or 6 wars, and seen great soldiers die under his command, with no proper buriel, and no compensation money for their families. He believes that this injustice has gone on for far too long, so he steals 15 missiles filled with a very deadly toxic gas, and takes 81 hostages on the "Rock" (Alcatraz). The military must get inside so they enlist a british intelligence escape artist named John Mason (Connery). Mason was once held captive on the "Rock", and is the only man to ever make it out alive. Stanley Goodspeed (Cage), a chemical warfare expert is to go with him to disarm the missiles. Mason and Goodspeed begin a friendship, and work together to stop a madman! The best Nicolas Cage or Sean Connery movie that I've ever seen, "The Rock" has it all! THE SAINTStars: Val Kilmer, Elizabeth Shue An excellent movie! I found this to be very exciting, and I really enjoyed it! The Story: Val Kilmer plays Simon Templar, a spy who sells out to the highest bidder. He is known as the Saint, a man who can get into anything and everything. When Simon wants to get out of this job, he wants to take $50,000,000 with him, which is what he would get for his last job. He is to steal the formula to cold fusion, the ultimate energy source. But when he finds who he is to steal it from, he falls in love with her (Elizabeth Shue). He then comes across a plan of domination over Russia, and begins to stop it! This movie is highly recommendable, and very worthwhile! DESPERATE MEASURESStars: Andy Garcia, Michael Keaton I thought this movie was very well done and it entertained me throughout the entire movie. The acting was sensational, and the story line was good. The Story: Andy Garcia plays a cop named Frank Connor whose son is in need of a bone-marrow transplant. When no one can be found as a match, Frank breaks into the police files to find a match. The person he finally finds is a ruthless killer (Keaton). As Keaton gets ready to undergo surgery, he, of course escapes. Now it is a race against time for Frank Connor, who must keep Keaton alive, so he can save his son! All in all, this was an excellent movie, and one that I would highly recommend! |
