Perfect Dark is going to boast an arsenal of over 40 weapons. What better way to learn about them that reading about them. This is a list of most of the weapons. Pictures of these weapons can be seen at pdark.com and there is also information about some of the bond-like gadgets. Definitely worth a look!

-AR34: A later model of the AR33 family. Just like the AR33, it is a rapid fire machine gun.
Secondary Function: Scope - you are constantly zoomed in, yet you can still walk around.

-K7 Avenger: Another rapid fire machine gun with zoom. It has a magazine of 25 which takes just two seconds to dispose of. Similar to GE's KF7.
Secondary Function: Threat Detector - which is very nice. This tells you where there's danger, guns and enemies.

-Callisto NTG: This is what we had labelled as the alien Maian SMG, and it fires a suitably green laser.
Secondary Function: Fires high impact shells.

-CMP150: Fast yet quiet automatic. Magazine of 32 bullets. The gun is used by several of the dataDyne guards. Sounds a bit like something from Transformers, but that's just my opinion. It can lock onto four baddies, and auto-target them, making sure you never waste a bullet.
Secondary Function: Lock On - locks on automatically to any four enemies in the room.

-Crossbow: That's right...a crossbow. It's the ultimate weapon of stealth, and is automatically set with sedating arrows.
Secondary Function: Instant Kill - lethal arrows that kill on contact.

-Cyclone: It's an automatic with a magazine of 50 and rapid fire. Used by the Presidential Guards.
Secondary Function: Discharge Magazine - it will shoot off the whole magazine with one pull of the trigger. Once you pull the trigger you won't be able to stop it.

-dataDyne dy357 (Magnum): Looks a little like the Cougar Magnum, but it has a more rapid fire. It only carries 6 bullets though. The picture shown here is of the excellent reload animation.
Secondary Function: Pistol Whip - like the Falcon 2, it can be used to, as Joe puts it, 'bosh' enemies at close range.

-Devastator: It's a grenade launcher of some sort. It fires "orbs" which basically look like round balls which kind of plop out of the gun.
Secondary Function: Sticky Grenade - sticks to walls. Falls down and explodes after about 5 seconds.

-Dragon: It's an automatic, and it has a big daddy, the Super Dragon. Holds thirty bullets, with a fire rate of around 10 bullets per second.
Secondary Function: Turns into a still-gun-form proximity mine that blows up enemies nicely. Has the potential to be a great multiplayer weapon because of this.

-Tranquiliser: What was previously called the 'Drug Gun.' The primary function doesn't kill, but it does calm down/make unconscious your enemy by shooting a drugged projectile at them. In multiplayer, it has the fun quality of making your opponents' screens all blurry.
Secondary Function: Instant Kill - does not shoot a projectile, so you have to be right next to your foe to inject this into them. However, it will kill them instantly, obviously.

-Falcon 2: Joanna's parallel of Bond's Walther PPK (PP7), advanced of course. Uses a laser-sight for efficient targetting. Can be fitted in some missions a scope and/or a silencer. Magazines hold eight bullets. There are also two special versions of the gun, with a (+) indicating the gun being silenced, (s) indicating a scope on top of the gun, giving a zoom capability.
Secondary Function: Use the gun as a hand-held 'boshing' weapon, like the Sniper Rifle in GoldenEye. Bosh.

-FarSight XR20: Ever seen the film Eraser? Well this gun can see through walls (using infra-red to see enemies' heat), lock on and then shoot through walls. It's a poor weapon if you don't know how to use it, but hold down R then the left C button and it'll scan for it's prey and lock on to them. Excellent.
Secondary Function: Locks on to enemis and follows them around.

-Golden Magnum: Say goodbye to the Golden Gun, here comes the more stylish Golden Magnumwith a stylish tiger skin handle.

-Grenade: Fundamentally the same as in GE, the grenade does, yes, blow things up. Coming in a fashionable grey cylinder, the grenade is rumoured to be able to carry more things than explosives, so I'm assuming it can be used as a gas or smoke bomb. I hope I'm right.
Secondary Function: Pinball Mine - bounces around, comes to a halt and then acts as a proximity mine.

-Combat Knife: Like the hunting knife in GoldenEye, the primary function of the combat knife is to hack 'n' slash.
Secondary Function: Poison-tipped Knife - word has it that Joanna literally tosses up the knife, and catches it in the throwing knife postition, as can be seen in the screenshot. Then she throws it.

-LapTop Gun: One mean automatic with zoom capabilities. LapTop, hmm, will our small PCs one day be able to magically transform into automatic weaponry. We think not. The magazine holds fifty bullets which takes four seconds to shoot off. Disguised as a lap top obviously.
Secondary Function: A great idea - just aim the gun, throw it on the wall or floor and it becomes a sentry tower, like the drone guns in GoldenEye (although on your side this time). It can be picked up and moved by Joanna.

-Laser: Remember Bond's watch laser in GoldenEye? Well it's just like that, but it's mounted on Joanna's left arm. And it cuts stuff.
Note: There are screenshots of this weapon, although they are not released on the web and so cannot be shown by us. Go get a magazine, that'll probably have it.

-N-Bomb: Apparently 'assaults the neural activities of opponents, incapacitating them so they can no longer hold their weapons.' In layman's terms, it manks up their brain so they drop their shooting wotsits.
Secodary Function: Becomes a proximity N-Bomb - detonates when opponents come near.
Note: The N-Bomb looks the same as the grenade on the outside.

-MagSec 4: Standard pistol. The MagSec holds eight bullets per round. Named the "Lee's Gun" at E3 after Rare's Lee Shunemna (probably for legal reasons), at ECTS the gun could only be held in a sideways fashion. Strange.
Secondary Function: Three-Shot Burst - fires three shots in very quick succession.

-Mines (Timed): All three mines make a comeback to Perfect Dark. This one, the timed mine, detonates automatically 5 seconds after it has been thrown.

-Mines (Proximity): Another flavour mine - the proximity. Get too close and it will explode.

-Remote Mine: Like the Remote Mine of GoldenEye. primary functions simply throws out the "Remote Explosive," while the -
Secondary Function: Detonates the mine with a tap of the 'B' button.

-Mauler: This speedy and powerful pistol has a definite "alien" look to it, and so was originally coined the "alien gun" by several people. The mauler holds 20 bullets in one magazine. From the videos it sounds like the noise a Game Boy would make.
Secondary Function: Charge Up Shot - will charge up if you hold Z, until it goes red and then fires a big fat mega shot, and they're dead.

-Phoenix: This is the Maian pistol. It has a very weird morphing or liquid-metal reload animation.
Secondary Function: Fires bullets that explode on impact.

-Psychosis Gun: Turns enemies into good guys, so they fight for you.
Note: This is not a multiplayer weapon - it is only used in one mission, a special ops level where you play as Elvis the alien, rather than Joanna.
Note: The Psychosis gun looks exactly the same as the Tranquiliser on the outside, but delivers a different payload.

-RC-P120: A later model of GE's RC-P90 but up against PD's armory it isn't such an undisputed king of weapons.
Secondary Function: Cloak - it has a built-in coaking device which makes you invisible. Excellent for multiplayer - but you cannot fire when cloaked.

-Reaper: Automatic with 300 rounds of bullets and a fire rate of around 28 bullets per second. It's held at the bottom of the screen and is hugely inaccurate, scattering bullets all over the shop. It was meant for stronger life-forms than humans...
Secondary Function: Grinder - kind of like the chainsaw that you will find in most FPS games. The fans on the end of the weapon rotate and somehow cause massive damage to anyone hit by them. But beware, this is a very close range weapon.

-Rocket Launcher: It says "Caution" on the side. It launches rockets...duh.
Secondary Function: Fires "lock-on" missiles.

-Shotgun: Every good first person shooter needs a good shotgun. Good stuff. Cocks automatically after every shot. Has a very slow reload - Joanna puts in each cartridge seperately.
Secondary Function: Fire two shots with one pull of the trigger.

-Slayer: A rocket launcher whose rockets arrange themselves into jets. It's held over the left shoulder and has to reload (about two seconds) after every shot.
Secondary Function: Secondary function is a first-person perspecive controlled rocket (like in Unreal Tournament) that is pure coolness. You see the rocket-eye-view through a yellow fish-eye lens.

-Sniper Rifle: A new-look sniper rifle, that is sure to provide hours of stealthy goodness.
Secondary Function: Crouch - you crawl along the ground like the enemy snipers, making you a very hard target.

-Super Dragon: It's a powerful automatic holding 30 bullets to a round. Looks just the same/exactly the same as the Dragon.
Secondary Function: The gun turns on its side and becomes a long range grenade launcher , making this gun not unlike the Assault Rifle of Half-Life.

-Combat Boost: Probably a multiplayer only weapon, although we're unsure. When activated, this causes all players' screens to slow down to about a third of their normal speed, with no drop in framerate. Reputedly absolutely great fun in multiplayer games.
Secondary Function: This weapon has no secondary function. Isn't the primary function enough? Joanna will come equipped with her fair (and large) share of gadgets that'll help you complete the missions. There will be the less original items like tracking bugs and data-thieves although Rare will put them to good use. For example the data thief can be used for communication and re-programming electronic devices.

Joanna will come equipped with her fair (and large) share of gadgets that'll help you complete the missions. There will be the less original items like tracking bugs and data-thieves although Rare will put them to good use. For example the data thief can be used for communication and re-programming electronic devices.

Shooting up surveillance cameras isn't always wise, so on some levels Joanna will have ECM (Electronic-Counter-Measure) Mines that jam them. For example on the first level she has five and has to disable the cameras.

You'll be able to see things in different ways using night vision goggles and infa-red vision goggles. If you shoot lights out then putting on the night-vision goggles would be a good idea and everything is tinged with the familar green. If you have them on when the lights are on however the screen will be an unhelpful white. An example of when these are used is when in the dataDyne complex after you've switched all of the level's lights out. Infa-red vision is used to show up where enemies are hiding, and is the same kind of thing as is used by the FarSight rifle. Its main use though will be for seeking enemies who are cloaked.

There was body armour in GoldenEye but in Perfect Dark there will be a shield that'll have the same general purpose. It appears to be a yellow translucent block surrounding the player.

The ultimate in miniature surveillance will be the flying camera called the Eye Spy. It is a tiny camera pilotted by yours truly, that is used to infiltrate the enemy's base and find out anything you want to know. Enemies will notice (and destroy) it if it comes into their direct line-of-sight.

This last 'gadget' is just slightly quirky. Apparently it is Dr. Carrol as a floating computer with eyes...that helps you with your mission objectives.

Perfect Dark features a weapon selection method similar to that of Turok 2, although with words rather than pictures, whereby one has to keep down 'A' and move the control stick in the desired direction to select a weapon. Changing weapons in GoldenEye was a pain when you had to scroll through several guns before you reached the one you needed. At ECTS we found this method of selecting weapons difficult at first, but getting far easier after a few attempts. You can still scroll through guns though, with taps of 'A'.

Other than weapon select differing from that in GoldenEye (although all of the GoldenEye guns will be there as well), Joanna holds her weapons in different ways. Perhaps this doesn't actually affect the guns' performance but speculation is that when guns are held sideways you can fire faster, while you can run faster when you're holding the guns up by your side.

Holding down 'B' will use the secondary function of the weapon you are using. The secondary function of each gun is shown above, in the weapon's list. The secondary functions range from unique functions such as forming a sentry gun or detecting danger, to more familiar functions such as throwing grenades. Tapping 'B' will reload or operate a machine, as in GoldenEye.

In GE you were able to carry two guns of the same kind in some circumstances, but only in single-player. In PD you can also do this in multiplayer - and apparently with every gun. It is not known whether or not you'll be able to customise sets of guns as you could, with a certain amount of difficulty, in GE. Every gun has a reload animation but when you hold two guns they just disappear off screen for a while and come back with the good stuff.
